Ouch! I can't say I am surprised by ROTR - the sales in UK pretty much pointed the way it was going for this game and now the figures for USA have confirmed the same. Microsoft and SE have done this 'timed' exclusive no favours with less than 200,000 units sold during the first week in the two biggest markets for the franchise.

@DigitalRaptor

Well said. Sniper Control talks of his experience of VR above and I rather listen to gamers like him who have actually tried VR on more than one occasion than people who say a lot but none of it based on actually trying the technology.

@ SniperControl

I was looking forward to PS VR based on what I had seen of the videos and demos at the various game shows, as well as all the reviews from gaming journalists, most of whom have been very positive about PS VR. However, it is experiences like yours that are far more important and have more weight. Thanks!

So are you sold on VR? It seems you more than most here would have better grasp of whether PS VR can be successful at least from having an experience that may be similar leaving aside the graphical differences.

I think horror will be the one of the more popular genres on VR. Sony have the sequel to 'Until Dawn' coming to PS VR and I think it won't be long before 'Resident Evil' will make the jump. A PS VR version of Kojima's aborted game would be welcome if Konami can get their heads out of the collective asses.

Had to dampen the mood then, didn't you?

Who cares about graphics so long as they are adequate and the gameplay is gun or exciting or both!

There will be just too many accidents otherwise. As much as devs can try and make instructions clear, there will always be some people who take things to extremes and end up walking off a balcony or into the edge of a door with scary consequences.

I have a disabled friend who is really looking forward to PS VR (he cannot walk unaided) and he loves the idea of being able to sit in one place and yet have the sensation of moving in an immersive experience he hopes VR will brin...

Sorry mate, but I and most of my gamer friends bought the PS3 because we knew that Sony would always have the better exclusives, would support the console longer (the Xbox was dropped like a hot brick when the 360 came out) and the PS3 had a blu-ray drive and player for god's sake! That technology alone was way more expensive than a console at the time.

Sony never got lazy - that is a myth spread by Xboners - it got arrogant and thought that gamers would pay nearly $600 ...

At first I also felt the same, comparing it to FO3 and New Vegas but stay with it, it did get better for me and I am enjoying it now.

You beast! You must have been playing it night and day. Either that or you are that good. Damn! (me on Level 14)...

The point of the article is that it is a slippery slope and that allowing loss of privacy now just because we are appalled at the carnage in Paris inevitably leads to a situation where the powers that be will use these new powers to consolidate a corporate and military led power structure. For example, they could snoop on legitimate 'watchdog' groups that are merely trying to protect the rights of the average citizen against companies like Monsanto and Nestle which have, in my opinio...

While I am on my hike, learn this - this was no abuse for ROTR but a point made about a game that should do better.

Yes, I do not like that a multiplat has been withheld from some gamers and talk to me about Sony when Sony pulls a silly stunt like this one. This was no comparision between two brands. Just a gamer expressing a personal opinion. The person picking sides and trolling is you with your comments about hypothetical behaviour on the part of Sony. All I did was ...

Sorry, but you are trying to imply that just because some gamers here are commenting on the stupidity of the media, somehow thay care more about their games and are not concerned at what happened?

The point is that the incorrect facts were reported and video games were again being painted as something that encourages deviance. A comment by C-H-E-F above quite rightly states that video games did not exist during the Crusades, Slavery, the Holocaust, World Wars I and II so who...

modlybread - Sorry, but as you just said yourself "it's a business, they will gravitate towards where they can make the most profits" and in reality these publishers WILL NOT use main titles which are successful to help fund other games. In fact, if anything, the business model is changed to that which produces more games like the one that is successful. If devs are unable to make games that generate a certain income or sell a specific amount, that game is not going to have a s...

Wow, so much for supporting 'Rise of the Tomb Raider'! Microsoft would rather spend money on TRYING to advertise for a game it does not have marketing rights and yet hardly advertise a game which Phil Spencer ("Big-Phil") claimed to love and cherish and for which they paid a lot of money to withold it from the best selling console for a year. It is languishing mid-chart having sold poorly and way less than expected in the first fortnight. A one page ad like the one for &#...

They can't let it go because Microsoft is arrogant enough to think that it is okay to behave in such a manner. Lack of class and cheap to the hilt!

They failed to get the marketing rights for whatever reason (probably blew the budget on paying for the 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' timed exclsusivity)yet they cannot just accept it and resort to such underhand tactics. Sony should object to this bullshit or at the very least demand some money back from EA until one re...

Actually I did not like the 'Street Fighter" exclusivity deal either and I am a die hard PS4 gamer. I would prefer that multiplatform ttiles that have always been enjoyed by both consoles remain available on both consoles.

As gamers we should all reject such practices and I for one will happily not buy SFV in solidarity with Xboners.

I am a fan. A real fan. I have bought every Tomb Raider game ever, on PC, PS1, you name it. I played the reboot on the PS3 and bought it again when it was remastered for the new gen for the PS4. I was super excited a sequel was coming out and then after this announcement, a week or two later it turned into what rumours suggested was an exclusive for the Xbone but which ultimately turned out to be a timed exclusive. Of course PC and Playstation gamers like myself were pissed. This was a m...

The writer is talking about all the positive things that Bethesda and Fallout 4 have fulfilled with regard to games and yet he decides to use a title that is simply going to put off anyone who might be remotely interested in the Fallout 4. Not clever!

However, I agree with most of what is in this article. Even though Bethesda does have a reputation for delivering games that are bug-fests at first, they also deliver excellent games and the amount of discovery in Fallout 4 i...

Yes, but you see as far as Xbox fanboys are concerned, and whether it makes sense or not, even the smallest advantage they can grasp at in this gen must be trumpted from the rafters.

Everyone and their aunt knows that the Tomb Raider franchise was by and large a multiplatform game with the biggest player base on Playstation as regards consoles. "Big Phil" as the writer of this article refers to Phil Spencer of Xbox wrote a big cheques to SE to withold the game fr...
