You do realize the numbers go up and down on that site.
The Wii had 200-400k bump and dump a few weeks ago.
Kain I really doubt GL went pro BD way back then. GL tends to wait on things like this. Look how long it took him to make the SW trilogy available on DVD. The only reason Indy would go blu would be because of SS...since it's more or less his baby.
All I know it'll probably be 3 yrs from now before we see a SW trilogy in HD.....
You shouldn't. Because most old folks are just buying it for it's up converting capabilities, not to play HD. Hell, I had a customer that bought 3 of the A3's just to play music and dvd's on in his business.
You have to realize most folks want HD but they don't want to pay the higher prices of HD media or players
Currently, most players still cost too much for the masses and the media is $30 plus unless it's on sale or BOGO.
Actually BD companies are giving away BD players. Sony/Sharp and Panasonic just had a free BD player deal with purchase of same brand 1080p tv. Toshiba is still charging for it's players.
If Toshiba gave away players you would see a higher number for HD DVD. Probably about a 5-8% increase...because everyone likes free.
The Wii can do 480p actually.
If they did a Wii add on then you would see a bunch sold. Especially if it only costs $120 or less.
But the Wii would have to have a firmware update to do 720p at least.
The Wii was only rumored to support 720p but was locked out by Nintendo.
Might be true might be false.
Actually, I don't think we'll see the effect of the ad until next weeks polls.
Apple is probably holding out for a format winner.
I doubt we'll see a BD drive in a Mac this yr.
I want my roms. I've never done it before but I do like the idea of 10-12 games on one SD card.
Yep, basically anything against HD DVD gets posted here. Very seldom do you see negative BD articles on here...but thats expected..it use to be a Sony fansite before going neutral so to speak.
Thanks who ever popped my bubble.
You could at least post a reply.
Boo!
Just add a portable HDD Nintendo and make me some MMO's
If GS reviewed it then it's probably more like a 7 or so.
I don't even think the laser needs to be tweaked. I think all they need is a firmware update.
Basically the player is programmed to only read HD discs which has different layering sys. compared to BD discs.
I think if it all goes to pot Toshiba should just issue a free update to BD via DL or disc to all current HD DVD owners. Now this may cut out all the 1080i users, but who knows I've seen folks playing BD discs on a 720p tv before.
Well I work for an east coast electronics chain(90 stores so far) and we so far haven't had any HD DVD players returned because of the format issue. But then again we sold the A3 for $119 and the A30 for $128.
So basically we sell them as a nicer DVD player now that can play HD DVD discs.
The only reason I would return one is if I couldn't get the difference back with the new low prices in effect now. Other wise keep it as a nice up coverting DVD player. Most 1080p up conve...
They do, but it's only to get movie playback.
Some Samsungs couldn't even playback new Fox and Disney movies once they went to DRM+.
But you can not update the profiles. You might once they get to profile 2.0.
The only BD player you can update profiles now is a PS3.
BDA should've waited until it hit profile 2.0 to release players to the public.
Stand alone players with 1.0 should've never hit the stands. Sony could've just made the PS3 it's sole BD p...
Won't matter Charter and Comcast are doing it too.
Eventually they will all do it.
They probably get paid to do it for the studios.
Are you kidding we'll be seeing pirated BD discs as soon as the format war is over.
If this is a known hack it should be exploited until Sony fixes the issue.
Did the commercial air? I watched the game, but I didn't see it unless it came on during the pre-show.
Either way it was lame like most of the SB commercial's.
Too bad because it could've helped them.
I can tell you right now that it's a good value. Most old NEC PC Engine Duo games go for major buxs on ebay and at local shoppes.
I don't really see the cost savings because normally within 3 weeks the dist. would have to send more BD discs anyways..to replenish the ones sold.
I'm willing to bet WB just put a different street date on the HDM discs and relies on the retail store chains to adhere to that said street date much like street dates for games.
First, of all where are the moderators? This shouldn't have gotten approved as it breaks numerous rules.
