Eventually, everything gets hacked. I think the reason the Wii and the 360 got hacked so easily is because the tech is based on current tech out in the wild. The cell and rsx are a bit more obscured. I think cell hacking will hit an all time high once more products with it are available. RSX will have to be reversed engineered to be hacked completely.
If it was built by a human it will contain a human error to exploit.
Wow, it's like the 80's all over again.
Atari should take them up on their offer.
I would like the keep the old Atari namesake alive at least for another few decades.
I wish Nintendo would just buy them out.
I doubt we'll see a 360 with BD player...unless it's an add on.
This is probably more in tune with the next Xbox then the current one.
They had a wing commander like demo running at 27-30fps.
I'm holding off until the 3G iPhone hits later this yr.
If you want to sell games on the Wii make some quality ones and hopefully it will sell well.
Are we talking $300 PS3? or $300 stand alone players?
Because the current crop of $300+ stand alone players are all those old 1.0 players that no-one wants now..with the coming of 2.0 profile machines.
If this is a 2.0 will it be a Funai or an actual name brand product.
Maybe he's talking about the X'mas dip or something.
I get 4Mbps over WiFi. That's pretty quick for something I get free.
Waiting on that 20-30Mbps promised by AT&T.
If it's like Laser Disc the price might actually go up. (for certain movies)
Some people collect weird/rare formatted movies.
I still want Star Wars on laser disc and on beta.
The beta copies go from anywhere from $20-100 bucks depending on condition.
A true collector will buy it on every format.
I bought my HD DVD demo movies for only $24 bucks.
I got Planet Earth for only $59.
I'll probably give away the PE since it's not a combo disc.
So my next HD DVD customer will get a free PE set.
My question is why the heck would they wash it down like that anyways? I mean really?
We need 500GB options, I think...especially if we get DL happy.
22.1
You have to realize not everyone wants a gaming machine to play movies on. I know I do not.
I plan on buying a DMPBD50K sometime this yr, but then again I'm not the masses.
I wouldn't mind a slightly wider DSL with louder speakers, bigger and higher res dual screens.
I would buy another just for that. I wish Nintendo would go to a SD card type media so they can make larger and more detailed games. I'd be happy with a 2GB card now instead of the current 129mb limit.
Wow, I can really feel the love in this room.
I have no love for the voice chat...especially when every 3rd or 5th word is F this and F that.
Nintendo only really needs SSBB to sell Wii's this yr and a Kart game will just push it along.
Not to mention WiiFit. Next yr I can only hope for a new Zelda game.
I want you guys to take notice.
Whenever a BD player drops in price..it's always a older profile ver. The newer profile BD players always stay about the same price. When the new DMPBD50K hits the US watch the DMPBD30K prices drop.
Prices on media and players won't drop for some time now. Maybe they will dip by X'mas buy they'll be right back up in Jan. 09.
Only retailers can push the price down now since HD DVD is out of the picture.
As for the upcover...
Thing is not everyone wants a PS3. Not everyone is a gamer.
I bet HD DVD players are rare in Japan or are soon to be rare.
In Japan the used market is very big and thriving market place unlike the US.
I'm willing to bet HD DVD players end up selling for more used then new in about a yr or so from now in Japan. But it would only sell to collectors of that stuff.
I keep thinking about all the old consoles I see over in Japan that fetch sometimes more then what the orig. srp was.
Either buy now or wait for a price drop.
I'm actually waiting on the DMPBD50K from Panasonic with BD Live support.
When the BD50K hits the BD30K will hit the $300 range really quick. (give it 3 months)
We'll see price drops on 2.0 profile players this holiday season.
We need Atari 2600, Jaguar, and 3DO games on VC!
I wonder if the old Amiga and old Apple IIe's will get any love too?
I figure as soon as it's hacked Sony will issue a firmware update to break it.
Eventually, you'll have hackers vs Sony updates.
