I wonder is the slowness due to the PS3, the profile, the connection speed, or all of the above.
I wish we had a standalone to test against it.

Wrong 6.1, if you would've read the contest site you would've found out the hackers did not anticipate SP1 Vista. So they had to do a rewrite and do a work around. They had plan to do the same thing to OSX as to Vista...only this one got patched.
The same scenario would have played out for OSX too if it too would have been patched a few weeks prior.

$300 is kinda steep, but most places around here would charge you just as well. A local Mac store here(not a Apple one) charges $100 bucks just to look at it.

My friend had a similar issue and Sony made him pay for the shipping costs of a new one.
No extra anything.

The reason for the small price drops is due to demand. Everyone else will drop like mad to make it's similar MP3 player look a little better to the consumer when it's standing right next to a iPo...

My old G5 got hit during a lightning strike. Not directly but enough to make it not boot.
I called Apple and they took it in for about a half of a day. I got it back all in working order, with all the latest updates, and for some reason I got a free Adobe Photoshop CE.
I did however had my Applecare coverage. To me it was well worth the cost.

I try to stay away from BB. I mostly do Amazon now.

Any computer can be secure. Just unplug for the net.

I do believe OS X and Linux are a bit more secure out of the box then say Vista.

Looked good until she smiled. Now that just looked artificial.

The teeth do look a bit off as well too.

Looks like rumors are floating around the hacker actually didn't crack the Mac on the spot, but actually had the exploit code written weeks before hand.

If so it kinda makes sense he could seize control of the remote Mac in 2 mins flat.

Apple will probably issue a sec. update in the coming weeks.

How is flash media limited to it's enclosure?
They make storage jumps almost every month or so in HCSD cards...enclosure stays the same size. Same can be said for SSD. It's up to 128GB already.

Hitachi and Samsung already make 2.5" drives that have 500GB capacities. Eventually will see 1TB 2.5" drives.

He said what I said about 2 month's ago.
The future will be filled with SSD carts that will plug into OLED tv's base.
No moving parts and no disc to read = better reliability over all.

He should've compared it to the new DMPBD50K with profile 2.0 and is upgradable.
This is the BD player to own in the next few months.
It's been out over in Europe for awhile now.

The FCC says broadband is now 768kbps.

Actually Apple is 8.1% now in the US. The yr before it was only at 6%.
Apple tends to take back about 2-3% every yr.
Apple should have 10% of the US market by the end of 08'.
Everybody I know is thinking about buying a Mac.
Even my PC bias friend broke down and bought a MacMini and is now going to buy a MB later this yr.

And how much is a fastmac drive?

Tray loading $529.95
Slot loading $999.95

Cut that price and half and tell me do you want to spend $499 extra for a BD player in your already $2000 Mac Book Pro.
Put that in the faster 15" and your at $3k and the 17" is over $3k.

That only said BD drives would coming soon. That could be later this yr or next Jan at MW09' for all we know.
Also Apple always gives options like extra drives to it's Pro users first and then it trickles down to the reg consumer models(iMac and Macbook).

Apple req. the new BD players to be slot loading and slim line for it's laptop lineup.
BD players with trays now cost $200 bucks...imagine the price on a slot loading slim line ver.

Hmm let's see
Best Buy:
Sony = $399
Sharp = $399
Pana = $499
Sammy = $399

Circuit City
Same prices as BB.

hhgregg
Same as BB and CC

If you buy at a retail store the prices are pretty high right now compared to a month ago.
Though the price on the Sharp is down though it use to sell for $450 on avg.

It will work with old DVD players since it's MPEG2 SD.
This is no different then folks with profile 1.0 players trying to play 1.1 or 2.0 discs.
The movie plays, but none of the extras work.

6538d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Think about it.

BD Profile 1.0 players can not play all the bonus view stuff on a Profile 1.1 disc, but it still can play the movie.
This will be the same with the DVD2 format. Basically, you can still watch the move, but won't be able to connect online and etc..without a new DVD player that supports DVD2.

1. Video encoded in MPEG2 SD (SD what DVD's have now 480p and plays in every DVD player)
2. HD available via Super Upconversion to 960p (It won't look...
