Arguments about which has more power are worthless. When choosing a console really only two questions are necessary:
1) Do you like the games on the console?
2) Is the controller comfortable in your hands?
If answer is yes to both, buy said console. If unsure of either answer, wait until sure. World will not end if you choose not to purchase a console.
First off, dude needs to discover girls.
Second, dude sounds like Sony is his girl. Wtf is that line, "Sony, I should have abandoned you long ago." Abandoned you?
Loyalty to a game console is like hugging a toaster...get some perspective.
If Sony does decide to prevent sales of used or pre-owned games, do you feel it will have an impact on their sales?
As a consumer I love pre-owned games, not because I save 5 dollars on the purchase, but because if I dislike a game I have an outlet for it. You can't return a game because you think it sucks, which is horrible. But this would also preclude renting ps3 games, which I consider inexcusable.
PS3 fans may view this differently, but not being able to r...
You've all seen the cell phhones out now that act as mp3 players, or that qwerty keyboards and larger screens. Let's see MS thrown one of these out there, that will also play Live games. I'd consider buying something like that.
The point being I don't buy portable gaming systems. I'll buy a cell phone and an mp3 player, but I don't need or want a third piece of electronics in my pocket. Combine it into one, please!
It's not a stupid post, look at the title of this article: "the ps3 bandage that never was".
You're looking at this from a Johny-come-lately perspective. When the PS3 was first introduced it was announced as having 8 functional Spe's. Then it was reduced to 7 to allow for this bandage feature...there would still be 8 functional spe's, but only 7 would be utilized. That way if one failed, there was a redundant Spe to take it's place, and you wouldn't have to repair ...
There's information on Spe's at wikipedia as well, but they don't go into a comparison of power versus the 360. PS3 fan was saying how much more powerful the PS3 was than the 360, even when using 6 Spe's. That's the data I'm interested in.
And you know the processing power of an spe? I'd love to hear about it.
This seems to only be US sales, not global sales. But sales will pick up when the good games roll out.
This isn't a positive article. It's talking about how the PS3 could have had a redundant spe built in in case of breakage, but it doesn't. Add to that the story of one spe being utilized at all times by the OS (which will constantly run in the background) and you're now down to 6.
What does that mean to programmers? No idea...but I thought the redundancy was a good idea.
Fable was an okay game, but could have been so much better. As people have mentioned, it needs to be much more open ended than it was. So much of the game ended up with you following paths...no cutting across the countryside, no real discovery...a good game, but really needs to take a lesson or two from oblivion.
I see system link will still be available, which is good.
But I need co-op already! If they don't have co-op via system link and Live, I'm going to tear my ears off.
Two things I really took notice of...it looked fun to play (fps with magic support?) and seemed to be running smoothly. Yes, bland looking. But showing more promise than I'd hoped for from the E3 video.
Loved the Psp/Ds analogy. No idea if it's accurate, as I can't stand portable gaming. But it's funny.
Sony decided to not go with it, which I think is a mistake. But I find it wierd that Immersion would be pushing an informal poll to try and egg Sony on. It's a done deal, Immersion. Pray that you get your royalties from the lawsuit.
It's an ad for a white psp and a black psp...so why is the white psp kicking the sh*t out of the black psp? Aren't they the same?
I'd have to think MS has it's hands full already with Vista, Office, and the 360. Maybe a multimedia device, but a portable game console entering a market already well inundated with devices?
But it brings up an interesting question...anyone seen Allard in the last few months? Where is that guy?
Remember the Sony Playstation ad with Jesus and the crown of thorns? That was a good idea.
SOny is doing a calvin klein thing...trying to make their advertising controversial so it gets more face time. I don't know why they are, but they are.
The 360 badly needs a game like this, and seeing as it's coming from Rare and has elements of games I like (The Sims, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon) I'm really looking forward to it.
This is the worst kept secret ever, and I still don't get it. Why bother calling this an exclusive to the PS3 when it so obviously isn't going to be? This is Ubisoft!
And why would Sony pay for this type of announcement? Ubisoft would have to keep this secret (already failed, btw) until it released on the ps3.
This is precisely why MS didn't put one in the console. I'm not buying a next-gen dvd player until one of them dies or they agree to a hybrid.
Yes, it will be a lot cheaper than a standalone player...but if it doesn't get the support then it's money you might as well flush.
