Blu Ray does not only mean PS3...other companies are producing blu-ray players. What themart is saying is true, and I don't know why you're screaming at him about it.
Dvd players were common, but expensive. The ps2 incorporated an inexpensive dvd player...hell, this was the reason I originally bought one.
Blu-ray is a totally different scenario. Yes, it follows the same line of here's a less expensive alternative to the stand-alone players...but it is not comm...
I can't tell the difference. Mayb 1080p will dazzle, but the difference between 720p and 1080i doesn't do anything for my eyes.
Long load times (ps3) from day one or the possibility of disc-swapping in the future (360).
Let's face it, load times are irritating too.
You could look at the time it's taking for movies to load for both Blu-Ray and Hd-dvd. I believe it's approx. a minute. Compare that to your regular dvd player.
Now is that a proper comparison, or is it apples to oranges? I'm not a techie, so I don't know. But it concerns me.
But I respect the Oz...dude seems to know his stuff, and he's respectful in these discussions.
I disagreed, but only to the extent you said the sony has games that equal what ms is offering. Forza was superior to gran turismo in my opinion, and comparing killzone to Halo is tantamount to a crime.
I'm happy this is coming to the 360, but I want to know why the game of silly buggers?
AC was originally a 360 game. Then it was a ps3 game and provided one of the few positive points on the ps3 presentation at e3, where it was (allegedly) shown with a 360.
And now it's september 1st, and the worst kept secret has been revealed. I just want to know why this went down. Did Sony provide hush money? If so why didn't it at least hush until after release of the ps3? Di...
this is not going to be your day. Gamespot has confrmed with Ubi.
Originally called an xbox360 game....shown at e3 on an xbox360 (allegedly)....then for months sold as a ps3 exclusive...only to crawl back to xbox360.
Never during an interview did they say "we're looking into bringing this to other consoles". It was always "as of now exclusive to ps3." Was there a contract with Sony? Did MS come forward with some cash? I want to hear the full story, because frankly I feel this company has been jerking fans around for no...
40 dollars is a lot of cash...and when you're buying Dude, where's my car, which you can buy on dvd for 13 dollars, what option do you think people will choose?
This is truly insane. Dvd's are still hugely popular, and the difference in quality to a majority of consumers is nonexistant.
At the same time, if movies are pricing at this level, what are games going to go for?
I loved the last game, but maybe it's best to leave on the high note, eh?
Why do I need to buy an external hd-dvd player for my game console when it's just for movies?
Why do I need 1080p video conferencing for my gaming console? The answer is...I don't, what I need is a gaming console, and that's what I bought.
And I liked the 360 ad campaign, especially the massive water balloon fight ad. I think the ps3 ad sucks, I think the slogan is awful.
You should be happy, ps3 people. This was a fun game. But with ps3, no rumble. I'm trying to remember whether rumble was important for fnr3...
The reason you get 360 people in here is because we're interested in gaming and gaming consoles. It's interesting to see what Sony is doing in response to the competition.
The reason we don't see you on 360 boards is because you are die-hard loyal fanboys. But be honest, some of you come over to troll and gloat.
Die hard Sony fans, be honest: did you like the ad?
Love that poster with the kid doing a karate chop and the dragon coming out of his shadow, doing the same move.
High hopes for this game.
That was awful.
Geez, Sony...show some games, highlight the blu-ray drive, something! You're so confident about the product that you show nothing about it?
I do believe that once you have a piece of equipment, you're more likely to use it. If I had a blu-ray player, I'd look at buying blu-ray movies.
And because I own a 360, I'll consider buying the hd-dvd add on. I'm not buying that camera, though.
That's where this is going. If the 360 went under, MS still would be a powerhouse...because MS's focus isn't games, it's pc software.
Sony, though....the ps2 was basically supporting the company, it was (and is) a major asset. So I don't think the Wired article is wrong in saying that Sony is taking a gamble, because they are. If for some reason the ps3 isn't a home run, it will put a major dent in Sony's coffers.
Thanks Gamefly! On the way!
Really? This story has been around for 24 hours yet, and still no official response. That's all I'm waiting for.
I agree with what he's saying, I think graphics at this point are fine and AI improvement wil make good games great...but his example of the Hard Rain clip makes no sense at all. That's not AI, that's scripted.
