So, if I'm reading the article right, movie studios are choosing one or the other to support...but no studios are choosing both? Why?
the game should be free!
Honestly, if you have to pay to get it onto your system, and then get charged a monthly fee on top of that....
Iwata's talking about the difficulty of getting women and the elderly interested in a game console. He said it's like getting men interested in makeup.
What they need to realize is that gaming is a community that grows with age. Younger gamers become older gamers.
Homer: "Hey how come you guys have cushy massaging chairs?"
Lenny: "Erm...it's a secret"
Carl: "Shuuut upppp...."
Interviews where they basically say "wait and see" make me laugh.
Anyone know why Nintendo doesn't attend this every year? Seems like it's right in their backyard.
This is the kind of stuff that I just love about Live. Demos/trailers straight to my console, sort of a "sorry you couldn't be here" gift.
E3 was awesome, TGS and X06 will rock!
So you might be able to place both formats on the same disc, making it more expensive for both formats! Yay!
Sorry Warner engineers, it's a format war. Even if you created the discs, people will end up buying one or the other....because hybrid players will cost more.
Maybe both will go away. I wouldn't shed a tear.
Mart, you didn't specify the game.
But it's nice to see all the RPG's on the way, especially Mass Effect and the stuff by Sakaguchi. Since I started playing Enchanted Arms, I realized how much I missed playing rpg's...and how much I missed laughing at bad voice acting too!
Spoilers:
"My arm! ARGH!!!"
But it won't dominate. And that's what I think the writer is pointing to, Nintendo appears to be taking a similar path to what they've done before.
And you know what? It's not a bad place to be. They make money right out of the gate, as opposed to Sony and MS. They won't be the market leader but they'll satisfy their Nintendo following, make a profit, and do it all over again.
As Flaming Tide mentioned, Nintendo always makes for a great second sytem.
That's what made this op-piece interesting. He was able to show that Nintendo has a habit of coming out of the gates strong, but then game releases rapidly dwindle.
And it's true that the Wii is in a poor position for multi-platform games. Sony and MS have hi-def graphics and comparable processing...Wii doesn't. So I may pay more to develop for Sony/MS, but I have two platforms I can bring the game to. With Nintendo I'm making the game just for Nintendo.
I ...
That was the shortest list I've ever seen...and the dvd playback gripe seemed half-hearted.
The only thing that would be worth griping about is if gameplay and graphics were lame...but TGS is just around the corner!
Edit: Wait...apparently Nintendo isn't showing the Wii at TGS?
If Wifi didn't work with Bluetooth simultaneously, then bluetooth would be out. As Sony hasn't made an anouncement about this, I'm going to assume there's no problem.
Just because you have to pay more doesn't make it a better buy for us. It just makes it a worse buy for you.
I'm sure it will be a good console, it will certainly have fun games. But, especially at that price point, they should have thrown in a second controller.
You don't encourage family members to game together by having one controller...and wasn't that the point of the Wii in the first place?
JRPG's (and especially FF) have felt like they've been in a rut for years. It will be interesting to see if Mr. Sakaguchi can rescussitate the industry.
They'll sell at that price, but the people buying will be the Nintendo people. After that it will come down to the games, and how fun the gameplay actually is.
The thing is, they're selling at a profit from day one...so they can always drop the price.
I still think they should have included a second controller. How do you encourage family gaming with one controller?
I think it's crap that they're saying they excluded it to lower the cost. What they mean is the cost for them, not for you. At 250 I doubt they're taking a loss, and especially when only offering one controller.
People are Wii60 people because they like the 360.
Dj, this is tiresome. You like the ps3, we get it.
I would have liked to see two controllers, rather than one. But I like that they included a game.
And although I like Nintendo, I'm waiting for a little while before I buy one. I want to see people's reactions to the gameplay before I buy one.
I thought the price was too high by fifty dollars, but it does come with a game so that balances it out.
They're releasing later than I anticipated, I expected them to release prior to the Ps3...but who knows they may still be doing that if ps3 changes release dates.
Finally...and this was likely unrealistic...I was hoping for 40 dollar games.
You're telling me that Sony isn't going to advertise the 499 version as being able to play blu-ray movies? Honestly, are you in a cult or something? MS is forcing people to buy 360's? Are you insane?
Not only are you off-topic, you're off the map.
