Built an i5-6500 Armor 1070 budget PC for my buddy for £729... it outperforms my i7 4790 1070 PC and would demoilish this build.

More options = better. I'm not buying this game anway have 100s in backlog, buying AAA games on PC for £15-20 on regular sales pretty much weeds out all mundane games.

The RX480 Crossfire barely competes with a 1070, I honestly was going to go with 2xRX480 before I found out the 1070 is just a better solution by a large margin... the 1080 shouldn't even be mentioned beside 2xRX480.

The term was coined to poke fun at PC elitism (by Ben Croshaw), instead of being insulted people ran with it. Over time it's morphed into a large legitimate community. The 'peasantry' term refers to people who think consoles are "objectively" better than PCs, people who insult normal console game...

The RX480 isn't anywhere near GTX1070 performance, sure you can pick Vulkan enabled DOOM or Ashes of Signularity to 'prove' this confirmation bias, but it's simply not true.

Hardware is not irrelevant.. look I completely agree H2 had a really good consistent framerate and I throughly enjoyed it, I've also owned every single Forza game, guess which one looks and runs the best? Forza 6 APEX on PC, by a country mile.

Yea well I would like the ability to play my purchased Xbox games directly on my PC (what the article is about) Plus, WIndows 10 is objectivly faster than Windows 7, the store is a seperate closed platfrom.. don't see them gaining much market share from Steam or GoG (with their UWP locked store) but as far as the OS goes, it's an improvement.
It seems most people don't even realise UWP is a seperate closed platform within the Win10 OS. Developers can still release games in exactly the same way as all previous Windows. Games on the 'walled' Win10 store can be launched with 3rd party software (e.g. Steam).
It's thier attempt to get more app developers on the Windows platform to try closing the gap with Android and Apple, one build can deploy across all devices is a nice sell.

Do you even know Xbox done cross play in 2007 on a game called Shadowrun? It was shelved as PC players dominated us playing on console... The talk of cross-play between Xbox and PS is what's new, if I remember correctly Sony have been open to the idea for a long time, it's MS who wouldn't accept it.. hence why it was relatively big news, I fail to see the publicity stunt, and I expect the first game to allow PS4 vs XBO to be rocket league.
The 770 ran battlefront well so I expect it'll still be really good on BF1, although yea the 1070 makes a huge difference, I recently upgraded and the difference is huge.
