I'm jealous. That is all.😝
In the end, they are ALL expensive toys. It's just a matter of what enjoyment you can get out of your choice of toy.
I wouldn't call it moneyhatting. Many of the projects so far weren't getting a ton of money or attention before Sony. It's more quid pro quo. When I think of moneyhatting, I think of already known (and well funded) or big AAA franchises where the money is for some sort of exclusivity (like Destiny, The Division, CoD, or even Tomb Raider). These games likely wouldn't have the profile without the help.
Essentially, it is just a personal HD TV. (receives audio and video signals and translates to each eye) There's not even some specialized port or wire. So, unless there is no PS5 or it is without usb ports, I don't see why it wouldn't. With t cinematic mode, it should work fine. Now, if you are talking new cameras or games, we are WAY too early for that. We still have to see if VR takes off first.
Agreed! My fears for the modular future idea centers mostly around devs NOT taking the time to exploit that fact. IMO, the further that graphics have advanced the more that they rely on graphics to sell you. (generally speaking...there are still devs that are trying new ideas)
If given another chance, I think another 'The Order' game could deliver exactly that. They have the assets already. They have a story arch. They struggled through the development process and likely learned a LOT. (especially considering that this was their first big boy console game) This time around, they could spend the time focusing on gameplay.
I agree. I don't think we will feel the next jump in fidelity until we get photorealistic graphics. (not saying that they won't get better, but it won't be felt like the jump from sprites to 3d characters) As you stated, regardless, there has to be some lofe to the characters. Improved AI goes a LONG way with that. Personally I want better AI, better overall game design (like you mentioned with missions), and more realistic physics (where applicable of course).
@Frinker...the LBP franchise is innovative. LBP3 simply expanded on the tools and allowed you to be individually more innovative with your game designs.
@TFJWM...porting was probably only so difficult because of the transition from the cell and PS3 architecture to the new architecture of the PS4. The highly specialized code of the Cell and it's SPU's is totally different and thus had to be re-worked and re-routed. No doubt that aided them in their endeavors with UC4. However, with UC4, they got to write specific code from the ground up (technically from high to low level) to specifically take advantage of the PS4. That, imo, makes it ...
Oculus and Vive ship with the sensors because they have to. Nobody is likely to have one. PSVR won't because the camera has already been out. Should they have a camera+VR SKU? Maybe. But, it's not some nefarious plot by Sony to undercut a price by less than $50. More than likely, it's to reduce confusion and redundant camera purchases. Remember Sony is marketing to its core (who make up the majority of early adoption sales) who is, more likely than not, going to know what they are...
Not only that, but Sony will likely send reps to retail to explain how to market it. This would include posters (with contents and accessories) and training (at least for management) on how and what it needs to work.
For a $400 investment I'M gonna know everything I possibly can.
There's nothing false about it. The price of the unit IS $399. Period. You will need the camera (which will probably be posted on every box...plus the contents of the box are usually listed on it.) and the Move controllers are optional. They can't just bundle the camera in every unit because millions of people already have the camera. For those that don't, there's the ability to purchase a camera OR a bundle.
This is much ado about nothing.
@Corndog..while what you say is partially true, what you are missing is the part where cops are supposed to be trained to deescalate the situation. There have been countless reports where the situation is made worse because the officers just barge in, guns drawn, inciting a situation where words would have worked. Even worse, the victims not having the opportunity to speak because they were gunned down inside of 30 seconds of cops arriving on site. As someone said above, it's rarely black...
While I agree with your premise, I can't feel too bad for gamers that didn't do their research. There was a crap ton of information stating what was in the game and what was coming later.
I'm with you on not really digging the idea for every game. But, the model (if done right) does lend itself to certain types of games. Aside from CoD, I think fighting games (like how KI did) and especially sports games could work well with this. The problem is that we have to once again trust the greedy not to get carried away.
That would depend on the price of the units.
Or a PS4. They could push a simple survey through the notifications. Would be a pretty easy way to get some good initial data.
For them, it's pretty much ramping up the hype FOR Xmas.
Soooo true!
