EA's attempt at showing Madden from a similar vantage point as BackBreaker. To be sure, the Madden devs have kept a close eye on that game and heard the voices from football fans wanting a more realistic slant on the game. Sure, BackBreaker didn't necessarily pan out (from a sales standpoint still a pretty good game with the best physics of a sports game ever). But, EA Tiburon didn't know it wouldn't succeed either. I just wish, for once, that EA would show an honest trailer. ...
Whether you see it or not between a marketing campaign aimed at a rival product and a developer taking it upon themselves to trash another console or it's products. I can see how it might seem hypocritical at first. But, there IS a difference. Commercials and advertising have been doing this for years...as a pretty much universally accepted practice. (see Coke v. Pepsi, McDonald's v. BK, Mac v. PC) However, it is pretty taboo for a developer to continually make negative remarks about ...
Kinect as a name is just another psycho-marketing tool. It is supposed to evoke a combination of movement and connectivity. It might be a bit too high brow for the average person (i.e. most won't even make that connection right away). But, not the worst choice of names. Plus, the Wii proves that you can give anything a name and it still has a chance to sell! Really...Wii???
Off topic: Kinetica was pretty awesome game...if you don't suffer from vertigo!!!*LOL*
albeit misdirected. We know that urban, hip-hop culture has been the biggest selling thing for the best part of 20 years now. Sony is trying to use that and youth to target a wanted demographic...the teen. The teen, that whether white or black, probably sounds a LOT like Markus. The problem seems to be that the marketing team has bought the stereotypes as well. I am ALL for showing positive black role models (no pun intended), but that is not what this campaign is for...it's to get some a...
the money outta their parent's wallets for the PSP! This is what this campaign is aimed at. It has been proven that kids listen to kids in marketing. This is why Saturday mornings are ruled by commercials with kids telling other kids how cool something is and why they should buy it. If you are not below the age of 16...these commercials are not targeting you. It's that simple!
opposite spectrum of consumers. Marcus is geared toward the kids. That's why he is talking to and about them. He's not talking to adults...he is appealing to the younger generation of gamers that he thinks need the PSP experience.
because he knows that those things come with the Beta tag. I HATE that freezing on the insurgent's side. It sucks. But, it was a pretty fun romp. Less open than BFBC2, a bit more visceral than MW2...kinda works for me. I'll give it some time and see what happens. There are so many FPS down the pipe that it will probably be reduced to an afterthought...but who knows...it might shock me.
I loved BFBC2...the feel was a better fit for the way I like to play multiplayer. So, now I get a new look with the same feel. That's a win/win for me. Now, if you are talking about a cookie cutter approach to gaming...then I agree. But, I didn't believe that DICE would be able to get an entirely new system together off of the heals of BFBC2 and all of the DLC that they have added.
You can't really compare TM franchise to racers like GT, F1, NFS, or even Blur. It is more akin to Just Cause 2 or any other open world game. There are no pre-determined tracks, just maps. Sure, a pre-alpha build is going to have issues with graphics, detail, and even physics. But, there is still quite a bit of development time. Playstation fans have been very vocal about their want for a new TM and Jaffe is answering the call. I have total faith that he will take great care of his "...
How do you do THAT!?!? Hot, sexy, intelligent, and actually knows about games. I hope you got one hell of a scoop instead of that interview! Either way, love your work man. Keep it up!
I don't care about all of the rumors and speculation because I'm old enough to research and use common sense for most of that. What I really like is that he has a child-like excitement for gaming. It's really passion for him. Despite his critics, his downfalls, and everything else...he is here every Sunday delivering his unique brand of entertainment which basically takes a hip-hop attitude into gaming. Sure, it might not be for everybody. But, I don't have many problems with ...
If you were such a fan of TM you would know that it has NEVER really been about the graphics. It's been about the content and the style of the game. There is still more than a year left in the dev cycle to work out "physics" problems that you saw. Overall, it just seems really short-sighted to judge a pre-alpha online demo without touching the controller.
The younger gamers seem to be more of the "graphix whores". They don't have the perspective to see that a game doesn't have to be jaw-dropping to be a blast to play. Being spoiled by "next-gen" graphics is cool, but with the perspective that pretty only lasts so long before you get to the core...the substance of the game play. THAT is what lasts. Plus, TM has a pedigree and history with the Playstation gamer.
in the first place. There was a show that talked about the fact that she had NO idea what type of show she was auditioning for when she showed up at G4. She did what she does...and got the job. Don't hate her for being her...hate G4 for thinking that this is what gaming journalism should be about. She reminds me of the T & A girls at the car shows or booth babes. They get a check for pretending to care about what you care about. They are usually attractive. They sell product. The end....
with this at all. From living in Japan for 3 years, I can say that the Japanese are a bit more formal culturally than Americans. Therefore, in order to show the proper respect and formality for the situation there shouldn't be an issue using -san to refer to Kojima.
The PS3 internet code has to be written for EVERY online game. Now, with the fact that DICE is doing the multiplayer and have experience from BFBC2, it should probably be a bit more functional...but I still have no worries that it will work well once polished and released.
he is seen as a "ghetto punk"??? If it was some suburban frat boy saying the same things there would be no problem. Look, this is not about a stereotype...it's about trying to communicate to another generation, a younger demographic. Sure, the slang may have started in the so-called "ghetto" or urban community, but it has LONG since left there. Search youtube vids, play an online game, do anything where ALL young kids interact and you are bound to hear terms like "...
pretty damn funny...console choice be damned!!!
Is this + Kinect + Acid tab = Liquid Crystals being plucked from your eyeballs after plunging yourself headlong into your 50 inch flat screen LCD! *L* Seriously, can you imagine the synesthetic overload that this would cause for a person tripping on acid. I guess pot smokers can marvel at the colors while coming up with pseudo-intelligent ramblings about the cosmos. Either way, I'd pay to be a fly on the wall to see that. Oh, and the game looks kinda interesting too!
is a slant on a familiar (to some) literary quote "Stone walls do not a prison make, Nor iron bars a cage..." from a poem by Richard Lovelace. People have since used that twist to phrase new sentences. The writer simply was forced to twist his statement into an interrogative (question form) since that seems to be a trend with NG4 articles.
It might not have been the intent of the writer to use the quote above, as most people don't have any idea where the twist comes from...
