It's really an adaptation of the system that they had previously. Sure, it does add some extra controls. But, that shouldn't really throw off the game. What I want to see is how this control scheme interacts with the overall game play. Will it just be one on one crossover battles back and forth? Or, will this actually free up the system to create a realistic representation of basketball? Guess I'll just wait for the demo.
I saw 253 MB when it was downloading a couple of days ago.
Madden needs a complete overhaul. They have been using the same engine for EVER. It shows! Sure there are graphical tweaks in player sizes, field looks better, etc. But, it's the same engine! There are no real physics in Madden. There are collisions, but no physics...just animations that represent a limited outcome. The AI should actually be well...AI. They shouldn't use cheap tricks to make the difficulty level higher. Tiburon needs to STOP selling football in pieces. Just give us a ...
for the effort alone...plus it really was a good series of points. One other being that the install base was relatively low for the PS3 at the time. I'd like to see if the sales percentage is on par with a game like Bayonetta (another unknown IP in similar genre).
This is advertising! Coke vs. Pepsi, Burger King Vs. McDonald's, Pizza Hut Vs. Papa John's Vs. Domino's, etc. They ALL make references to competition while making themselves sound good. It's not hostile, it's not offensive, it's just business. When you are in direct competition, you have to separate yourself from them. This has been a time-tested and proven method for doing so.
guess he missed the mac vs. PC ad campaign!?!??!
This was for the most part true. The $600 buy in on the PS3 kept a bunch of younger crowd off of the service. However, now that the price has gone down to a more consumer friendly price I have seen the rise of the immature. Not to say that immaturity has an age. Most people on PSN probably have a mic, maybe not a PS branded one as any bluetooth headset will do. It's probably just the difference in the social experience that is branded by XBL as opposed to just getting online with PSN. I d...
But, those things have been done before...and better! Tip-Toe catches have actually been in and out of Madden for years. The realistic run game is countered by the suction blocking and the fact that there are no consecutive hit tackles. It's either one on one, or a group tackle that seems not to work most often. The animations are really, really redundant at this point. Some might say canned, but I would say routine. Gameflow is basically and extension of Ask The Coach, and by default is ...
about the Tiburon team. They want to sell you football in pieces. This year we give you offense...then next year we give you defense...then next we give you catches...then next we refine the QB experience...etc. The full experience of football is ALL of these. Don't bulletpoint football to death! I don't see that they want to create a great football game. They want to franchise football in a way that brings people back for the NEW feature of the year. Sadly, this has worked for most p...
American Football is a distant relative of....soccer...oops football. There was a time (early 1800's) where players in the world's version of football actually used more hands. (before the Football Association created a standard set of rules) When the rules were changed to a no-hands type game some players were unhappy and broke off to create Rugby. Well, when Rugby hit the shores of the ol' USA, there were people (in college) that chose to refine it into Gridiron Football or Amer...
a true excuse to be that shallow and vapid!!!
Has one of the most distinguished voices I have ever heard. It's really strange to see that depth and tone come from such a small man. He is really a great voice actor...and actor in general. For those that might not know, he also did the voice work for Mace Windu in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series, swordmaster from Afro Samurai, Anthony Green from Saints Row, and Othello from Unreal Tournament 3. I'm sure that there are some things that I missed. The dude is ultra talented ...
Not trying to be a douche...but Regina King voices Riley and Huey on the Boondocks. Regina Bell is an r&b singer from the 80's.
For all of the fanboy conflicts, cussing, raging, pwnage, etc. that we get on the internet, sometimes we forget that these are still real people. Like them or not they are real. I can say without doubt that I wouldn't wish death on the worst flamer, troll, or annoying kid on the internet. I sure wouldn't wish death on anyone that actually contributes to a more positive experience online. With all of the bashing that online gaming takes, there is one perspective that is left out. You c...
You do realize that Sony is a HARDWARE company right? The years of layoffs and closed divisions were a direct result of corporate restructuring...which happens when a recession hits. These moves were basically made to position them to start to see profit after bloating themselves with all of the profits from the PS1 and PS2. Sony, being a export company, was hit hard because their "overpriced" hardware actually became MORE overpriced due to the dollars failing power against the yen....
It was the perfect storm of economic decline which caused decreased demand for other consumer electronics (which includes TVs, surround sound equipment, dvd/blu-ray players, computers, cameras, etc.)that Sony often used to pad the costs of the Playstation division. Unfortunately for Sony, they are primarily a hardware driven export company that was forced to try to sell their wares in an unsure economy. Glad to see them back in black...if only for the selfish reason of them being around to pr...
I love the physics. They will pretty much spoil you to the point where it is difficult to go back to the norm. That being said, it does have it's issues. But I will give BB some room to grow. I hear a patch is still in the works, so that is a positive. Anyway, I think that I have given EA their last $60 on Madden...at least until they decide to scrap that age old engine and build from the ground up. I guess I got bored of the similar look and feel of Madden for the last...um...10 years or...
This is a way to THANK their loyal fan base for putting up with a sub-par year? I'm sure that the 2K team knows that they dropped the ball with online play last year. There is no doubt that the fans were very vocal about the issues that they had. So, maybe Jordan on the cover is like saying...Thanks guys...here's to you! Personally, I think that they got a bit complacent over the last couple of years with the EA franchise floundering. That being said, and despite the issues, it was ST...
Achievements and trophies are a nice touch for the type A, OCD completionist in all of us. But, I rarely have the time to devote to platinum any game because there are so many great games arriving week after week. Plus, some of those things are just too mundane and repetitive for me to have fun...which is why I play games.
Some of the greatest fan service of all times. Backbreaker, from the beginning, was extremely ambitious. Creating a football game using a realistic physics engine from a team that knew NOTHING about the sport took balls. Upon it's release, it was mediocre. BUT, the great thing about it was that it showed real potential. There were elements of greatness that showed time and time again. With that greatness, there were also glaring faults (strange penalties, strange on field rulings, strange...
