You have pretty much made the point. Sometimes you can't just SAY the point and really drive it home. As you stated there was a "dilemma" when watching Cannibal Holocaust. You felt like the film used sensationalism and exploitation to drive home a point. Guess what...regardless of the methods used...you got the point. This is NOT the way to do it. There is an age old method used in psychology called implosion where you bombard a person with the things that they fear the most. Ul...

It's that the people with the money don't want to take chances. I am sure that there are plenty of new, original ideas out there. However, if they are not guaranteed to print money then chances are they won't see the light of day. It's based on an old and tried formula. Tell the people what they want. Give it to them. Make them feel like they got all they want. Give them more of the same. Rinse and repeat. It's worked with the music industry and the movie industry. Now, it...

In the soccer world...Pele is a god...no pun intended. But, you are right in that the marketing power of the name Jordan is HUGE! In fact, so huge that about 3 or 4 years ago EA decided to pay for exclusive rights to the Jordan brand in Live. As I stated above, they also touted him in the NBA street series. So, once again....we have Peter contradicting what his company had tried.

The last time that Jordan was marketed and fully playable in a video game was from HIS company...it was NBA Street! So...umm...Peter you might want to know your OWN history before you try to doubt the marketing prowess of your competitors. In fact, even better, just focus on getting your game to be GOOD again!!!

to see that the indie dev scene is running at full steam. Congrats to them on their success. For 4 people to have created this game is pretty amazing. It's an insanely addictive mix of Excitebike racing, with platforming elements, some Tony Hawk style tricks, and some level editing thrown in for good measure. Even at the premium price of $14.99, it's well worth it.

about government help is a bit off base. Sure, there are some Americans that exploit the social services that the US provides. But, for every one of those there is the hard working, blue-collared worker that takes pride in a hard days work. The gouging of people, through health care policies, was and is ridiculous. Being a former medical student, I was able to see this first hand. Why does it cost upwards of $5 for a band-aid in a hospital? Why are routine follow-up visits charged (as in stit...

I don't think that he was saying that one generation was better or worse. However, there are inherent differences between the two. Because older gamers have had to suffer the previous lacks of technological advances, they are a bit more tolerant of a game that is less of a graphical masterpiece, might have a glitch or two, etc. When you are raised on a steady diet of 2d sprites and blocky 3d character models, everything looks good. Also, the argument is not a demand for progress or even a...

I agree about the pressure. But, he invited that when he was the self proclaimed "King". As for your assessment of the Bulls and MJ. I have to disagree somewhat. The thing about that team was that Phil Jackson was able to get players that worked in HIS system...which surrounded a key player (MJ). They were a supporting cast. A rebounder, a pure shooter, a versatile small forward. From that, he and MJ created stars from cosmic dust. Scotty Pippen was really only the Scotty Pippen tha...

I think that the media, and LeBron, turned this into the biggest free-agent signing in any sport ever. There was a time when Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Charles Barkley, AROD, Joe Montana, and even the great one Wayne Gretzgy were all free agents. So, history DOES provide some perspective. That being said, SportsCenter really is obligated by it's very nature to cover this "event" to it's finality...which I hope is sooner rather than later.

It's kinda difficult to remain humble when the media crowns you a "king" before you leave high school and you make more than $90 million before your feet touch an NBA court. The media, the NBA, and partially the fans of the NBA created this monster. That's not an excuse, it's just some understanding.
He is a talented player, no doubt, but I guess the days are gone that you actually have to prove yourself on the court to be crowned the best.

The Heat still have a LOT of pieces to put together. We know the starting 5, or at least 3 of them, will be a tough match up. But, championships are maintained by the bench and won by the starters. They gotta get a decent bench squad to keep putting pressure on those deep teams in the east. Plus, we still don't know how well this will work. There have been other "all star" squads thrown together to get a ring that didn't work. I'm not really a LeBron fan, but I gotta lov...

What are THEY losing? Losing out on quality games? Losing out on quality console? Oh...you mean the invisibly "war" that is going on where nobody wins except shareholders and company big wigs?
As I see it, if you own any of the 3 consoles...or even better a combination of 2 or even all 3...how are you losing? Wait, no gaming pc. That seems to be the ONLY way that I am losing. Look, gaming is gaming and while the experience is personal it still comes down to choice. Who am I,...

It's the Jerry Springer effect. Simply put, we have been so inundated with tabloid media that simple, smart journalism just doesn't cut it anymore. Just look at the media frenzy surrounding LeBron James. He became bigger than the entire playoff race. Why...because the media covered his every utterance on social media sites. There is simply too much access to information. Therefore, people now feel like instead of just reporting the story they must somehow make it interesting. Whether ...

Logic does not always equal truth. Sure, you followed a wonderfully logical thought, but the end didn't really prove anything....Example. I require oxygen to remain alive. A fire requires oxygen to remain burning. Therefore, since a fire requires oxygen it must be alive??? How bout the one from the Heineken commercials...I like women...women like Neil Sedaka...I like Neil Sedaka???" *LOL* Funny, but not very true.
There is a concept of false value. It's value is tied to i...

I agree with your assertion that the 360 is more than holding it's own. However, I have to strongly disagree with the idea that Sony is the only loser this gen. Sony has lost money on it's console. That much can't be argued. However, it will probably recover all of it's money in the long run...which is what Sony was aiming for from the start. They have lost some market share. That was bound to happen with the price point, recession, and 2 cheaper console alternatives. MS suffe...

It allows you to adopt a fantasy persona and act as reckless or as moral as you want with the only reprocussion being what the programmers have in store. If you don't like the result, turn it off and play again. Too bad life doesn't have a reset button sometimes!!!

I understand your passionate retort, but you seemed to have missed the crux of this argument. It's not about a feature to feature comparison. It simply is saying...if you are a gamer...that wants to play games...why pay for all of the extra stuff? What part of the extras that Xbox Live offers is actually worth the expense considering that they are offered free elsewhere? I have experienced Xbox Live and I love how integrated the experience is. There is no doubt that the community is HUGE....

You have a point. I can ignore the flamebait article titles of BOTH HHG and Pachter. I can ignore the fact that what they say may or may not be pure speculation at best. What I can say, and most people without blinders can obviously see, is that HHG has a PASSION for what he does. Where I think Pachter has found something hot and new to latch on to. They both have their glaring faults and their positives. But, at least HHG gives us live interviews. I can't see how one person's specula...

The point in looking forward to MK, even though the series has been sub par, is simple...because it used to be extremely FUN! This is the same thing that drove Tomb Raider to sales...despite the fact that some of the games really sucked. People just have a soft spot in their hearts for certain franchises. They root for them to return and bring back those memories. There is no doubt that if you were a child, teen, tween, or older in the 90's that MK would have some memories for you. Look a...
