Great point!!! Language has never been a static entity. It's evolving and ever-changing. Thus, we get words added to the dictionary on a yearly basis. As you said, the internet has birthed a new form of linguistic expression with the likes of noob, pwnd, etc. What people fail to understand is that major sites have something called an editor! That's probably why there are less grammatical errors in their writing. I am as guilty as the next person of juxtaposing homophones as the next. ...
Jaffe.....you daaaaaamn right!!! LOL
There's a HUGE difference between overrated, disappointing, and HORRIBLE. It seems like he just added some "popular" titles in the mix of some truly and universally panned games for the sake of controversy. I respect a man's opinion and have no issues with his right to choose whatever game he thinks was bad. However his reasoning, in most cases, fell short of convincing anybody that some of these games were truly as bad as he claimed.
As a teacher, I can fully respect and understand that education is the key to success...especially in getting out of the inner city. THAT is where I work on a constant basis to get students to at least have a dream. You of all people can understand how difficult it can be just to dream about getting out...let alone actually achieve it. That, I guess, is somewhat of the testimony of HHG. He used what he had to get where he is.
It's sad to see that this might be the cost of competition. This isn't the first time that we have seen these kinds of charges levied against a high profile development studio. Some of the treatment that I have heard about borders on sweatshop mentality. I wouldn't be surprised to see the games industry unionize in the next few years...if ONLY to keep the industry humane.
Good message...and clearly received. Plus if it was in the interest of getting a proper photo for an article of some sorts, this type of thing happens all of the time. It's just now we get to see how long it took them to get the perfect shot.
My sincerest condolences to you rim41 and others that have lost anyone during this year. Sometimes I think it is so easy to get caught up in the everyday BS and we lose perspective on things. Nobody is promised tomorrow.
Japan, just like any other country, has it's pretty and it's not so pretty. Overall, I would say that I completely LOVED their culture. I lived there for 4 years (during the original NES days) and it was a blast. I was LITERALLY like a kid in a candy store.
I will give you Bubs up for just being human. The man lost the most important person in his life this year, in Hip Hop Granny. Yet, he kept putting out content...just for US gamers. Like him or hate him. You have to respect that. Thank you for proving that not everyone in this cold world is soulless.
@distorted_reality
Not anyone can be a journalist in the games industry. It DOES take some passion and motivation to get out there and make connections so that you can get more personal interviews. Journalism is NOT just about asking the right questions, it's about perspective. This is the SINGLE reason why print journalism and TV news is struggling against the internet. I agree that it shouldn't be the case. But in today's world, the average person (especially yo...
So...I guess that actual flying is the only simulation of flying and yet fighter pilots are expected to log in hundreds of hours on flight simulators. Racers of all types will log hours upon hours of racing in simulators to test new designs and tweaks in performance in hoping to shave valuable seconds off of laps. It's a cheaper (long-term) alternative to real racing. See, simulators are made to created the environment of the real event WITHOUT having to have the real event. Actual drivin...
It seems like this blogger is trying to take the Hip Hop approach to making himself known. Challenge someone who is up and coming or even better someone that has made it. Then, make your name based solely on that. The issue is that when you do that, you have to been seen as a worthy opponent. Or, irritate the hell out of a person through personal attacks, etc. until a response is elicited. Calling out HHG for doing a rap track for a game that is full of stereotypes is like calling out Denzell...

In your last 2 posts you have spoken more truth on this matter than I have seen in the 2 years or so that I have seen insults hurled at HHG. The REAL issue isn't that HHG "represents a sterotype" the issue is perception of said stereotypes. As you stated who are we to judge this man because of his choice to utilize his personality and charisma to get a leg up in the industry. It's not like it's a new concept.
There is SO much energy placed in hat...
I keep hearing that the next patch is supposed to address the text size...give more options for changing color after character creation...and possibly increase the level cap to 30.
I clocked in at just over 30 hours because I wasted a LOT of time just trying to see and do everything. For people that are OCD about trophies and such...this game can be a bear. Also, for those like myself that get easily sidetracked by entertaining side games, this game has a TON of replay value. I can't tell you how many hours I spent playing golf, bowling, batting cages, that damn arcade shooter game, darts, pool, roulette, blackjack, poker, oh...and those fighting tourneys...man! Alt...
I agree....it's a shame to watch this type of stuff. Also, the mud wrestling thing is ridiculous. Any self respecting man knows that the evolved mind is more into Jello than mud!!! LOL
In general, I think that journalism is becoming a lost art of sorts. Some of the best journalistic pieces on sites are overlooked for the gaming entertainment (more opinionated and blatantly biased pieces) on websites all over the net. Entertainment has become such a driving force that most people can't just digest information given straight and true without it. Steven Colbert, John Stewart, and yes even Glen Beck command more attention than Diane Sawyer on evening news. This mentality ha...
I'm sure that they will try to streamline the process and get the prices lower...then license the tech or contract out to make up for the years of R & D and upfront costs. Either way, this seems like a pretty significant leap forward in terms of facial capturing. Wonder what's next for motion capturing!?!?
Maybe if this guy were to speak for the company instead of Bobby Dumbass...then there might not be this type of hate. Activision has some decent games. Let's not kid ourselves by saying that everything that comes out of Activision is great. Mostly, they specialize in low cost/ high return gaming. Churning out yearly sequels keeps the costs on the low side...sell millions and get a high return on the investment.
They are like the WalMart of developers. Sure, we probably all have s...
Hmmmm....let's see. I like puppies...and ice cream. I don't think I would mind a puppy eating ice cream. I might actually be slightly entertained at ice cream eating a puppy. The thought of puppy flavored ice cream...umm...pass. However, ice cream flavored puppy!?!? Okay...enough! ***head explodes**
