I enjoyed this review because it brought some fresh perspective on the Killzone franchise. So often the games media gets jaded by high expectations and hype or just blinded by the overall journalistic trending bias. However, in this review Killzone can be examined with fresh eyes. I never thought that the story was horrible, as many often claim with Killzone. The voice acting is not as great as some, but it gets the job done. For me, Killzone does it's best by capturing the feel of war. O...
I don't think the gaming media in general have realized how hyper-critical they've become. It's almost like the "it" thing to do. It seems as though it actually causes physical, unending pain to say something positive about Sony. Yet, when other companies make some of the same moves it's either glossed over or it becomes a positive for them. I understand that the PS3 launched at a price that many felt was ridiculous but get over it! Sony has always tried to push boun...
@Scotland...KZ3 beta is for everyone this time!!!
@Bathyj...
Bubs up for the laugh as always!!!
There IS indeed freedom of speech. BUT, your speech is NOT beyond reproach. He is a public figure as a developer and has bosses and shareholders. I am sure that the pressure to apologize came from there. Plus, as Legion noted, people have the right to be offended by speech.
Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, Any Celebrity Dating Shows, Jerry Springer, Maury, The Real Women of (wherever the hell they are from this month), etc. ALL set the woman's lib movement back and...as you stated...they are watched and adored by droves of women.
I've been saying for the last couple of days that $299 is the sweet spot to make that sucker sell. I'm sure Sony will be taking a loss, as they always do, on initial sales. But, once again they can make it back on the software (barring any piracy issues). Now, the 3G model could hit that $399 price point. But, they will still have the lesser models to carry the load. To compete with Nintendo, Sony just needs to offer great experiences (both core and casual), advertise like nobodies bu...
I don't know how many hours you put in or what level you reached. But, I am having a blast. I have pretty much leveled up my character to 30 in about 2 weeks of 3-4 hours of daily play. I play with 2-3 other friends on a PvP server. I understand the repetitive nature of the game being an issue for some. But, that is also the nature of MMO's. IMO, the DC license brings some freshness to the genre. Seeing these iconic characters and locals throughout the game world is part of the bait t...
I'm on The Killing Joke and it's pretty much time dependent. I've been there and seen mostly villains at one time and then mostly heroes at another. For some reason, there seems to be a constant lvl 30 villain presence in that area. They just stalk the poor lower level characters and gank for hours on end.
You kind of nailed my fear with this game. I was really into it on the first run. Then, about half way through the second run I got bored. Even though I was discovering new ways to "kill with skill" I found that I wasn't really having that much fun. I guess maybe this is just one of those games that sounded better to me on paper than it actually worked out to be. Then again, maybe it's just this particular demo isn't doing justice to the entire game.
That's pretty much how I have dealt with my last couple of console purchases. I put away $10-$15 a week. By the time the release date is here, I usually have had more than enough or right around enough to afford the console and a couple of games.
I just think this might be a bad move...at least on the PS3 sales side. PS3 gamers have been burned more times than not by shoddy ports and inferior performance in multi-platform games. This could cause them to shy away from Crysis 2. Especially, saying as though ther are some heavy hitters are coming up for it. Then again, it could just be that they are okay with getting the majority of sales from 360 and PC and take whatever they can get from PS3. Either way, it WOULD be nice to have them p...
Sensible comment...thank you. All of this pissing contest of a comment section seems to have missed that. Nintendo has been reigning king of handhelds for 20 years. This won't change because of a beast of a console. Why? Because the average Joe doesn't know or care about a quad core processor. All they know is Jimmy at school has one. Or, Julie down the street is getting one for her daughter. It's mind-share! That being said, I think that this generation of handhelds should be clo...
Honestly, the only thing that really held back the original PSP was the lack of a second analog stick. That was the reason why games were "better played on PS3"...it was a control issue.
Oh...and the games that you speak of aren't PS3 ports...just as RE, DoA, Kid Icarus, etc. aren't ports. The games ARE actually new games. GoW has had it's history enriched by 2 games on PSP. KZ Liberation took a FPS and turned it into a successful top down, isometric view shooter...
Once again, we are quibbling about purely sales when we should really be talking about increasing or improving foothold in the portable market. I highly doubt that Sony can dethrone the 20 yr. champ in Nintendo. But, they might be able to carve themselves a bigger, better niche and make and ruffle some feathers (much like MS has done). Sony sold 64 million PSP's (half of what DS sold). Maybe they increase to 80 million NGP's and close that gap. More importantly, gain some mind-share f...
Umm...since when did Sony start attracting 10-16 y/o? The very price of their products suggest that they are indeed targeting the core gaming demographic (21-35 y/o). It is only recently (last 2 years) that Sony has started to cater to the younger crowd with the PSP because it finally hit that sweet spot in pricing. As for having the same games, you and I both know that there is a lot of crossover between Wii and DS games. Just as there is in Sony's brand. It is just good business to prov...
@TIER_1_BEARD...
Sony has pretty much decided that the "hardcore" crowd is what they want to capture with handhelds. Even with the PSP, they were attempting to get that gaming dollar first. Sure, they added in a few "casual" titles here and there. But, their true target has always been the hardcore Sony gamer (i.e. those interested in KZ, GoW, MGS, Resistance, etc.) The casuals that they pick up will be years down the line when they hit the consumer friendly price ...
Not to argue your point, because I don't agree that MS or it's products are horrible. But, quality doesn't always equate to sales. Sometimes, it's about much more. MS have been brilliant this generation with product marketing. They have made the Xbox brand the new, "IT" thing to have in gaming. Thus, people will buy and continue to buy it. Look at McDonald's for an example. They make a cheap, decent burger. Not great, not horrible. BUT, they sell a crap load of b...
Don't forget side-by-side comparisons of specs, launch titles, previous launch titles, suspected launch titles, titles just pulled from the author's asses to justify whatever agenda they feel like at the moment...Hey, this is "journalism" I guess!?!?
Really!?!? That's a shame because there were some great ones. Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders were two of my favorites. I can't tell you how many times I went through those games to get the various endings and scenarios.
