Sony's NBA: The Life actually did a pretty decent job of capturing the life of an NBA star and the journey from college to the lower leagues and then into the pro's. The only issue was the gameplay itself was pretty bad. This new Fight Night looks real promising.
I understand the "moral" issues behind this. but let's be realistic. EA and Tiger are in a business relationship. He lends his name to a GOLF game. This is not Tiger Woods: Relationship Simulator. Tiger has dominated the game like no other in this generation. Therefore, EA felt like they NEEDED the best to identify with what they consider the best.
As for the personal shots, what he does in relationships really HIS business. He didn't kill anybody or rape anybody. Ly...
That works for you because you are more of a core gamer (assuming this because you are actually in a gaming forum). However, there are a LOT of casuals that probably couldn't tell you what the gb after the 4 stands for, let alone why it would be important to need more. For them, this was supposed to be an easy, plug and play affair. If there is ANY credence to this story, there are gonna be some pretty perturbed consumers out there as I can't imagine telling anyone to be still while p...
Personally, I think that a zombie game done correctly would be really great. Something that comes to mind is The Walking Dead (comic/tv series). I like the idea of truly having to survive this zombie apocalypse. It would be cool to see different groups of people. Not just a super-soldier trained for everything. Maybe they could have some class-like leveling of skills. Perhaps you might have to weigh the option of either risking yourself to seek a particular skill or toughing it out until thin...
I sort of agree with what you are saying. But, I don't blame the age or infancy of the industry as much as I blame the lack of progression of our society. If the sexual revolution wouldn't have been stagnated everyone would be able look at sexuality and nudity in a different way. As it it, nudity is a "shock" ans sexuality is exploited only because it is considered so taboo. As open minded as Western society claims to be, we are still stuck trying to separate nudity, sexuali...
That is pretty much the Nintendo formula. They KNOW that they have a treasure trove of classic IP's...games that anybody who considers himself/herself a gamer has at least tried...if not grown up on. Therefore, when they need a go-to title they pull it out and rehash it. As you stated, the games are not bad. But, I would LOVE to see them challenge themselves to make an entirely NEW IP sans Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby, or Samus. It would be good for them and I think the industr...
I think this is that MK compilation that was spoken about awhile ago.
-Hmm...Bobby Kotick will finally get a sh*t sandwich shoved in his mouth...only for us to realize that he enjoys it and thus proving what a sh*thead he truly is.
-3Ds will sell like crazy, but it will cause a temporary blindness in all those who play for more than 10 minutes at a time. The upside is that in those 10 minutes of blindness you will be able to see into the 4th dimension and we will realize that we are NOT alone!!!
-MS will start to include Kinect in cereal boxes,...
Little shock to your "only 270,000 copies sold" theory...I have finished ICO and I NEVER owned it. How you ask??? I borrowed it! See, it's possible to do something called borrowing...and even renting. In it's defense it really did stand out amongst the other titles of it's time and even today. There are very few experiences like it...at least that didn't come from the same developers. It's definitely NOT for everybody...just as certain movies and music fit certai...
@DA TRUTH...
I actually used to do that. I would be in GameStop, before I became a slave to Amazon, and see people bring in tons of games. Most would only be worth $5-$10. So, I would offer like $5 more to take it off of their hands. I got Beyond Good and Evil for ps2 for $5 (they were only giving $0.75) The GameStop people just laughed, because I knew most of them anyway and threatened to do this very same thing!
IMO, the story is the backbone of the game. It's the "hook" that is set in our collective mouths from the very first trailer. It is what kind of brings us into the universe that the dev has created for us to play in. Now, that being said, there are different strokes for different folks. Some people want to find every little nuance of the story. While others are content in just knowing the basics. Thus, why a lot of devs have added the ability to skip cut scenes. Once we are imme...
U did NOT say Blankman....lol'd for 5 min on that one!!!
Why the laughter? I thought that HHG conveyed his message pretty well. Sure, there were the usual breaks with grammar. But, all in all the interview seemed to go well. There was no confusion, IMO, on the use of the word scale in it's context. If there was, then maybe the dev would have asked a follow-up to clear it up. Also, just for information's sake, realness IS a word. It is the noun form of the adjective real.
I think that HHG does exceedingly well with what he has to wor...
Same thing Zombie...I have been with Sony since their second year in the gaming business. Technically, the first because me and a friend went half and half on the original Playstation. But, somewhere along the way I stopped getting these things. Whereas, that very same friend seems to get EVERYTHING. I don't blame Sony. I just hate that I keep getting forgotten.
I'm sure that all of that time and money in R&D was NOT just for this game. They probably intend on streamlining (financially) the process and licensing it out.
As for the rest, that's up to personal tastes. I enjoy the JRPG style just as much as photo realism. I agree that graphics alone don't make a game. But, there IS something special about realistic graphics combined with atmosphere and gameplay that can be magical.
The reason that the NFL approached EA during the "auctioning" of the license was because of the size of the company...i.e. EA was rich enough. There is definite collusion in this situation. The NFL was well aware that EA was lucrative beyond belief and would be able to outbid any competitor on the market. Thus, Take-Two and 2K games was squeezed out. So sure it was a greedy NFL. But, it was also in collusion with a desperate EA.
As for the quality of 2K games vs. EA sports,...
Exactly what I was going to say. This is more so an issue with the publisher and management than with developers. I am SURE that most devs want their product to be as complete as possible when shipping. After all, it's their name and reputation on the line. I can't count how many times devs speak a year after a game is released or when a sequel is about to be released and they say "well, we wish we had more time with the first game...or these are things we wanted to perfect in th...
@Persistantthug...
That's why he went on to discuss the point about living on past success. Sure, Activision and Kotick are high on the horse right now. But, what is to come in 3-4 years when he has not only worked his staff into poor moral and continued to ignore the consumers who purchase his games? Eventually, one of his screw ups IS going to bite him back. So...for now..we just wait for karma. As JR stated, he knows from experience!
SoTC is one of those examples where actual art direction trumps graphical prowess. Most would agree that SoTC was surpassed by other games of the time from a purely graphics standpoint. However, it's hard to argue that SoTC didn't stand out with it's art direction.
"The new controls will definitely take some getting used to if you're a Fight Night vet, but the team is including button punching in the default control scheme, so you'll have the option as soon as you pop in the disc." from http://ps3.ign.com/articles...
Hope this helped!!!
