I really disliked the MAG demo. Don't see why people are so hyped over this game. Having 256 players just means that many more pre-pubescent tards calling everyone a f@g. Besides, the demo's controls and gameplay are far from tight. I'll pass on MAG.
But bring on The Last Guardian.
Did anyone else find the demo a little underwhelming?
It's worth mentioning how much sh*t the sony cult gives a game like ME2 for being 2 discs while they sit there and allow the superior blu-ray format to interrupt their session of MGS4 with a 5-10 minute install after each act. I own both consoles, love both consoles, and wish everyone else followed suite. If they did, we'd see a lot less hypocrisy out here.
For the record, I'm not a huge fan of mandatory installs, and I really don't care how many discs a game comes on, so long as...
I still don't understand why I should be excited about this game. I've seen the trailers and gameplay videos and (goodbye bubbles) I'm not very impressed. It looks like a clunky QTE game. And as for the sexuality, the short-haired dike-ish chick isn't even that attractive. There are some games that I understand being excited for: ME2, GOW3, GT5, UC2, Splinter Cell, MW2 - to name an unbiased few. But Heavy Rain? Come on...
(I might eat these words by the end of the year.)
KZ2 and UC2 are close contenders for best graphics, but KZ2 shouldn't be game of the year. All it was was visuals.
GOTY should go to Arkham, but it'll probably go to UC2.
While I don't agree with every point the author makes, I do agree that we all need to hold games and their storytelling to higher levels if we want them to mature and evolve - which I hope we all do.
To those of you calling this article flamebait, lame, or fail, you either a) didn't read it, or b) you don't actually want games to get any better and are perfectly content with the prepubescent masterpieces currently at hand.
Everyone seems to viewing this as an either/or scenario. "Just watch - you'll miss your controller!" "You'll get tired of using your body for everything!" You're missing the big advantage of Natal. It tracks your BODY, not a peripheral.
Imagine playing a FPS with your 360 controller. And you've got a squad. You reach a sketchy looking house. You let go of your joystick and hold up your fist. And your character does it in realtime with you. And you're whole squ...
Yes, this made my stomach lurch. From the sound design to how calm the shooters were (walking instead of running), this is unnervingly realistic. But to those of you demanding this be censored or removed from the game, that's a very slippery slope. You're seeing this whole thing out of context.
It reminds me of The Kingdom. The first ten minutes is a gutsy, horrifying depiction of a terrorist attack on an American base in Saudi Arabia. It's the setup for the entire movie and with...
And that's DISCUSSION.
It's funny to me how any article that flies in the face of conventional thought or opinion (i.e. Uncharted, Killzone - insert any PS3 exclusive - is sent from God) gets labeled as just wanting hits or lame or retarded. Sure, that applies to a lot of them, but not this one. Who cares if it's a small site? The writer is actually trying to generate conversation about a game aspect that is very important. Story.
He's very glowing with his complimen...
Grow up. If this is your definition of disgusting rhetoric, you've lived a very sheltered life.
Does anyone know what kind of game Reach is going to be? (I'd prefer legit mature answers - I realize this kind of question is like tee ball for the fanboys.)
Personally I don't play games for their difficulty. I play them because they're fun. And for their stories. Dying over and over or dealing with a difficulty level that makes me want to throw my controller through a window then slit my wrists with a broken shard of glass is not my idea of fun. This is why I never liked RPGs until Fable. It was an RPG for those of us that hate RPGs.
This also brings me to Halo. Yes Goldeneye was sweet but I loathed FPS on consoles. It was the exce...
I love when fanboys make generalizations about how fanboys make generalizations. Killzone 2 was fun. Why does it need to be god's gift to gaming? Why does any game need to be? Enjoy what you want and let others do the same.
But it's a real shame how much the fan boys care about the word "exclusive." They seem to have forgotten the word "fun." Both systems offer tons of the latter. I couldn't care less how SC compares to Uncharted. Different games.
Remember when gaming used to be about entertainment? And not about small testicles? I guess once you've drunk the koolaid there's no reasoning with you anymore.
First off, when did the 360 stop supporting HDMI? It's standard on all boxes now, from the Arcade to the Elite.
Second, it's true that 360 owners can buy a stand-alone player for pretty cheap, probably cheaper than the add-on will be, but they're hardly getting a great value in terms of the player itself. I was an early adopter of HD-DVD and went through two stand-alone's from Toshiba before getting the 360 attachment. The difference is night & day. The 360 loads so much fast...
@ Projekt7
Well said. Nice rebuttal.
@ MF
Typical that mentally disarmed people have nothing to say when faced with an intelligent counter-argument.
@ HQLocated111: many LCD's now feature 120hz playback, which basically means their refresh rate is super high, and depending on the setup of your player or media, this can make the image move in a hyper-real way. It's great for video games, but for movies, it often destroys the feeling of 24fps that gives movies their distinct look and feel. We have a 1080p Aquos hooked up to a PS3 which has a 24p mode. For some reason, when 24p mode is on, the playback looks fake, like video. So we turn that...
I understand that MS has done some things that made the sony vaginas cry and weep. But what they're not understanding is that MS always played by the unwritten rules. They didn't steal it at the 11th hour. Did you guys even read the article? When MS has a timed exclusive, it's presented in one of two ways: 1) they don't even mention the timed-exclusive - and suddenly eight months later, the PS3 gets a nice little surprise; or 2) all the details are on the table a year in advance.
