I admit, I play the fanboy game as much as most. And it's probably time for me to grow up. So:
"I do hereby pledge to extend only courtesy and respect to my fellow gamers, whether through agreement or disagreement, cooperation or dissent, and do acknowledge that there are no absolutes when it comes to personal taste, and that in this world of opinions, all are equally valid and deserving of consideration.
First and foremost, we are gamers together, a...
Yeah I don't see a huge jump. But I was never complaining about the look of the first one, so it's all good.
LOL. Nice & bubbles!
"Killzone had you do more than just run in the woods. Uncharted had you do more than just run in the woods."
I lol'ed so hard at this.
Your gripe is flawed 30sec, not the least of which by the fact that you're clearly biased against the 360. Not saying Alan Wake was a great game or anything - I was disappointed by it. But your complaints or just nit-picky bullshit that could be applied to every game.
Just having MGS in HD would be incredible. Hands down my favorite part of MGS4 was the return to Shadow Moses. It's the best game in the series and I would love to go through it again with an updated engine and sound. Hopefully they'll make them all 3rd person instead of being stuck to the overhead camera.
Sorry badz, but when Butler shows up on my tv and takes credit for all the joy I find in GT5 (i.e., it was his idea to add 1000+ cars, weather, day/night, etc.) with no mention of PD, I find that annoying, offensive, and degrading to the devs.
I'm not saying Sony is bad to their devs - clearly they're not, but the Butler add campaign drives me nuts. If I weren't already a PS3 owner, he might actually drive me away from the console.
"Kevin Butler is far and away the best marketing tool in gaming."
Tool being the operative word. This guy embodies everything that is pompous and pretentious about the brand. Sony doesn't make great games. Their devs do.
on topic: very excited for KZ3, in all it's 3D HD glory.
Apples and oranges I guess, but I disagree with you on Forza. Maybe it's because I'm playing with a Fanatec GT wheel, but the cars handle very differently, especially with the safeties off.
Forza's also more welcoming to newcomers. I've gotten three friends hooked on it who hated racing games before it, including GT5. Now we race online all the time. Unfortunately, even with the wheel, they can't wrap their heads around GT. Personally, I kinda like the gam...
Something about insecurity I think. They need to overcompensate by invading threads that have nothing to do with GT5.
So I guess Valve doesn't suck anymore?
It's beyond backwards, though, that you can eviscerate, mutilate, decapitate, etc, but the second you even think about throwing anything sexual into a game, it goes AO.
"Forget graphics." Yeah. That's not gonna happen with this crowd. You do that, you'll forget why you came to play.
lol @ hellsvacancy
off topic: I can't help but wonder... if this was a hack against MS, all of you would be cheering the hackers and chanting "down with M$!" Or something worse.
Love the conspiracy theories, i.e. the biased American media trying to bury Sony. You guys are as crazy as the birthers and the tea party combined.
It's really sad that your heads are so far up Sony's asses that you don't see this is as corporation vs. the little guys. And if you do see it that way, then it's even sadder that you're against the little guys. Nothing that happens here will hurt Sony, but Sony can definitely hurt these guys, thereby stifling and possibly destroying any future possibility for open content. This is bigger than just mods, hacks, and cheats.
Sony should be doing what we want...
Someone said this: "And what if Sony loses the case which leads to making jailbreak legal even on console. That would be pretty bad for Nintendo and MS too."
And my question is, why do we care if it's bad for these corporations? Do you think they give a shit about what's bad for you/your wallet? I think this could all benefit us as gamers and consumers. Much the same way jailbreaking an iphone can radically enhance its functionality and truly take it to anot...
Nicely written article, and honest, too. The UC series is one of the most overrated of this gen. Halo and Gears also share the podium with it, in no particular order.
There's more inspiration and innovation in 1 hour of a game like Red Dead and Mass Effect than in the entirety of UC. All it is is beautiful. Outside of the look and sound, there is absolutely nothing new or innovative about it.
@ Nitro: I totally agree with you. But that's gamers like you and me. That's how we think and we've already decided which consoles we want. We're not exactly sitting the fence. Ever.
The only exclusive MS cares about now is Kinect, which is smart of them because it opens the console up to a completely new demographic. I may not like it, but it's a smart business move.
Yep. Just pre-ordered.
I don't understand how anyone could disagree with you, Vinnie.
