Killzone = FPS
COD = FPS
Let's all relax a little.
Oh blu...you walked right into that. It's like that old saying - if you're looking for the troll in the thread, it's probably you.
Checked out the demo last night and I liked it. The engine looks pretty much the same to me and the controls are definitely more responsive, but the SOUND definitely has more love poured into it. Hearing the bullets and the gunfire in uncompressed 7.1 is a true treat for the ears. It's like Saving Private Ryan in space.
Sounds like we have a new Quake/Unreal - graphics-pusher with MP focus.
It's true. Enslaved wasn't that great. The story was intriguing but never more than that. The digital performances were impressive at times, but as a game, it holds your hand far too much. Few games this gen have been more linear than Enslaved. At least Heavenly Sword had the benefit of being exclusive and early in the PS3's life cycle.
Enslaved feels like a game from three years ago. It would have been impressive as hell back then. Now...it's just forgettable...
Jesus. This review is just brutal. And I agree with Arnon. It seems like most of you are more concerned with how a game scores than how much you like it.
Just reread what I wrote and I disagree with myself. =)
Gears has always provided much more of a complete package. KZ is pretty much just about the visuals.
I love KZ2, but I had the exact opposite reaction to the story as you. I never knew where I was going or why I was going there and I didn't really care either. It took me three playthroughs and a lot of paying attention to actually be conscious of what was going on between levels.
OFF TOPIC: I disagree with those who claim COD's story is lame. I haven't played black-ops, but MW1&2 were the very definition of epic blockbuster. They feature espionage, betrayal, politics, and nukes. And what impressed me the most was how they did it.
When the bomb went off in MW, I felt it and my jaw dropped and I was exhilerated. When the choppers started falling out of the sky in MW2, I was practically screaming with adrenaline. They're well-paced, well-...
I won't be impressed until it balances my checkbook.
Apparently MGS4, KZ2, every Uncharted game, both LBP games, all the Resistance games, even Infamous 1 & 2 have also used 100% of the PS3's power. These claims are so mundane at this point.
Oh well. Fanboys are like moths to a flame.
"and people say KZ2's graphics couldnt be topped"
I'm pretty sure the only people saying this were Sony fanboys... Most of us know that everything gets topped eventually.
agreed Killer. I own both, but my 360 typically gets much more play than my PS3. I guess that make me an ignorant fanboy...(tear)
@ persistantthug - lol. Yes, cez is very rageful, but at least he's pretty upfront about his bias. Can you give example of multiplats that sold better on PS3? (FF13 doesn't count.)
Sorry inveni0, but life just isn't that simple. It'd be nice if it was. One day you and your mantra are going to run head long into the wall that we call reality. And it's going to hurt like hell. Good luck to you when that happens.
I didn't realize so many gamers on n4g were closet Republicans.
Uh, yes you can compare a PS3 and iPhone, especially in this context. How you guys don't understand this and don't see that a ruling in Sony's favor is a ruling against your best interests as consumers is rather dismaying.
@kaveti, well said. Have a bubble. And I'll quote the genius again:
"if I have to justify something, I probably shouldn't do it."
Thankfully Ghandi, MLK, the founding fathers, Jesus, Patton, Bill Gates, JFK, Kruschev, Yeltzin, Einstein, Capernicus, Gallileo and the rest of the individuals who radically enhanced modern society didn't follow the same mantra.
Looks great.
I've been replaying KZ2 and I kinda wish they had a slightly wider field of view. Sometimes it feels a little narrow. I know this is nitpicking but I wondered if anyone else felt this way.
This looks sick. I hope the console versions don't get too gimped. We'll have to wait and see but if they can pull this off, it's devs like this and CryTech who really punch some gaping holes in the theory that exclusive = superior.
