I personally think KZ3 was a step backwards in every way other than visuals.
Wait, seriously? You're calling KZ3 the David in this situation? LOL
If MS can re-optimize the 360 without us needing to purchase new hardware, I'm all for it. I still don't think this gen has seen its peak, especially with all this new hype coming from MS (don't forget the recent Lionhead tech demo). Maybe it's just hype, maybe it's for real. We'll see.
This complaint just doesn't hold water. Red Dead, Arkham, Crysis all say hello. Each of them is breathtaking in terms of graphics, content, and gameplay. To say that you NEED blu-ray to have a next gen game is just fanboy speak.
I guess style and graphics are two different things, but for my money, I enjoy the look of this way more than KZ. Crysis is truly epic. KZ feels like a graphic novel.
I know the picture's brighter with limited. That's what I was saying. But it doesn't effect the picture quality.
And you should always be adjusting your TV. Every display needs to be calibrated, and as it ages, it needs to recalibrated. You should never trust the settings right out of the box because they're typically way too bright as the manufacturer wants the TV to stand out when it's sitting on a wall with a hundred others.
Look at it ...
Sorry, I know this is severely off-topic, but can anyone tell me what the audio specs are on the PS3? Does it output in uncompressed PCM like most PS3, or is it standard DD or DTS?
Um... Unless you're playing on an old school computer monitor, you don't need full range RGB. Limited range restricts the bottom IRE values to 7.5, just like NTSC broadcast. Full range drops it to zero IRE but it's not adding any detail there. It just spreads it out. And conventional HDTV's are all still calibrated primarily for NTSC since it's the majority signal.
So unless you like driving your TV brighter than necessary and risking burning it out sooner...
Not sure what Starhawk was trying to prove with that video, but it certainly didn't make me not want Crysis. The more I see of this game's SP the more I want it. This looks to be the most epic FPS yet.
After watching this video, I don't know what you assholes are complaining about. This game looks beautiful on PS3.
"containing things that can't actually(in factual terms) run on the cnsole unless it was a game at like 10fps and 3 discs lol(or 2 hours long)"
Can you back this up with specifics? I'm curious what tech is being used in that demo that's impossible to run efficiently on consoles. And since you said "consoles" and not "xbox", I'm assuming that means the PS3 can't run it either.
So again, what's the tech?
Ordinarily I'd agree that this guy has hype seeping out of his rectum, but from the tech demo they recently showed, I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. I didn't think the 360 could do what they've shown it can. Oh well. Only time will tell I guess.
To be fair, DICE took a phenomenal concept and made a very linear and mediocre game out of it. There's lots of room for improvement and would snatch up a sequel on day 1, no questions asked, but BF3 is a monster. So finish that, then, if we're lucky, they'll turn their talent and the FB2 engine to Mirror's Edge.
B1663r's argument is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. Otherwise the only thing devs would spend time really modelling would be weapons and objectives. Rockstar wouldn't exist if people followed that mindset. Hell, even production designers and cinematographers on movies wouldn't do half of what they do currently. That's the idea behind creating a fully-realized world. God is in the details.
I will be extremely shocked and elated if we see this kind ...
Nice to see a sensible discussion on n4g for once. Bubbles to you all!
I agree with Kleptic on lighting. That can make all the difference. I personally think poly counts are where we need them and any more effort put into boosting that is kind of superfluous. Lighting and textures are what will allow us to climb out of the valley. Playing KZ3 is awesome and it's a beautiful game, but I always feel like the textures are very low res in some places and bland and it takes me...
Well said, Seth.
I'm not unimpressed by this demo. There's a crowd on here that only wants to play ps3 exclusives, and I pity them because they're not allowing themselves to see the big picture. I don't want to live in a world where Crysis is an ugly game. Because it's just not - that's the simple truth. There's a lot that this engine does well, regardless of how many pixels it uses. It's a very admirable first attempt at coding for the ps3, an...
Treyarch already said they're not gonna waste time on a new engine. And that's pretty much the only way to outdo BF3 at this point. The COD engine is nothing to write home about anymore.
Off-topic: eff hiphopflamer. What a tool.
I wonder if Pixelated_Army is surprised that he only has one bubble.
You must be new...
OT: this is pretty funny
That's not really a counter argument. It's just unnecessary.
