Man, I remember seeing the first screenshots of this in my EGM - god, not leaked online, but official shots in a magazine...crikey, I'm old. But that thing blew me away! Not even talking about the games, just the form factor, the specs, the screen...considering the other portables of the time, this thing was futuristic as heck! And then the games! Amazing how close to PS2 some of those games managed to get. And the thing was still a truly pocketable device. Would have been perfect if they...

I feel like half of those were left in last gen, with the other half only sporadically used these days.

And yea, split up into 10 pages = we need more ways to inflate one user into appearing like we get a ton of clicks. I don't begrudge people getting ad money - I don't expect people to work for free - but if you're gaming the system, try not to let it devolve into a format that affects readers and functions in a way that we all uniformly detest.

The only thing they "got away with" in this list, as far as I can tell, is the fact that they rely on weaker hardware. Just about everything else comes down to commercial failures, and they "got away with it" because they have billions of dollars. $49 million isn't exactly going to phase them. So that's less because they are Nintendo, and more because they are overflowing with cash. Plenty of companies can get away with commercial failures because of their Scrooge-...

I don't know if that's a comment saying that those giving it a zero are as equally within their rights as someone giving it a 10 after so little time played, and...I might be able to get behind that. But I cannot imagine a game, out of a 10 point scale - that also has .1 increments to it - could possibly ever warrant a 0. I mean, sure, there might be a few games that simply...I don't know, don't launch or are a travesty in so many ways you can't even see the good in art di...

I was definitely not saying it was a nonissue - I've read too much to know that it is widespread, I was just commenting I didn't have personal experience with it and felt lucky that I haven't had to deal with it. Still find it crazy they haven't fixed it, according to what I've read, in the newest revision of the controller either.

You will take that back, you...you, miscreant! You...gaming malefactor! I take off my glove and I dash it upon your face, sir. Feel the sting and reconsider your position, else consider yourself challenged. If your stance on FFXII, one of the finest RPGs, remains unchanged - one of slanderous, ill-derived belief of mediocrity - then I shall see you on the morrow at dawn. Bring your dueling sword of choice - may it be sharper than your clearly benumbed mind!

BS? Same size battery, new processor revision uses, on average, 40% less power to play the same games. Same battery size as OG, and you're looking at a truly meaningful battery life increase - no power pack needed. Digital Foundry did a test, and the same test (50% screen brightness) had the OG Switch die on BotW after 184 minutes, whereas the new Switch died after 302. An extra 2 hours ain't nothin' to sneeze at!

Luckily my Switch doesn't have this issue (though to be fair, I don't play it very much). But from what I hear, even the new Joy Cons still have drift issues. Pretty nuts to screw up something so fundamental to the game playing experience, even after all this time and a console revision.

Nintendo always disappoints with *sales* - full stop.

XBC2 - came out 2 years ago. Has an expansion. Full game, still $60. Expansion, still $40. No GOTY or Ultimate Edition. Any other platform, that game is $20 by itself, $30-40 with the expansion. Maybe even $20 including expansion, after two dang years! This is how they handle just about every one of their "evergreen" games.

So I could either get an old Switch game I'm interested in, but n...

I suppose that adds to the "too-late-ness" of it - if the game launched now, it might not be too late. But on the heels of everything else, only seeing a glimpse of it with no actual release date, that makes whenever it does release waaaay the hell too late lol.

But I'll hold out hope for D4. Regardless of all the other mess Blizz has been involved in, I enjoyed D3 after RoS launched quite a lot. If they can give me that kind of value per dollar again, it'...

D3 ended up - after all the tweaks, patches, fixes and expansions - one of my most played games of all time. Say what you will about me or the game, but they had that loop tweaked to a mirror sheen. I'm losing a lot of hope for Blizz - with their admitted core team becoming less PC players and more mobile players, and how they've been handling their business lately - but I'm still holding out hope for D4. I can judge that on its own merits, and I definitely will; whenever the heck...

Yeah, that's a rough release schedule. I feel very weird continuing to kind of poo-poo the Switch, as I go into articles like these hoping to find something that I'll be excited about. I haven't gotten the kind of value out of my Switch (as a secondary console) as I'd have hoped. If it weren't for my OG XBO purchase, this probably would be the worst console purchase I've made - weak praise, I know lol.

Like you, I've got an impossible backlog so ...

Except if you are someone like CDPR who makes Cyberpunk 2077 where their vision includes transhuman and other aspects, then all of a sudden that "make the game you want to make, don't change your vision" line goes out the window and it's "keep your politics out of my game".

Maybe that's not you, but that hypocrisy is certainly more common than not.

It's a game kids play. It's rated E for Everyone. If moms and dads saw big floppy boobs on their kids' E for Everyone game, I'm guessing some might get upset - not just religious prudes or "SJWs" (the most loved of strawmen for arguments like this).

We saw Bayonetta release on Smash, even though she was an "M for Mature" character. They covered her up in one of her canonical outfits that isn't revealing, and all was well. No one compl...

In general a sensible position, but when you can buy a Switch for $20 more than a freakin' controller - A CONTROLLER! - then I can see a lot of people opting not to take that road. Value is obviously in the eye of the beholder, so maybe $180 is something you can take a punt at and not blink twice, but that unfortunately isn't the case for most people.

I'll absolutely be interested to try it, but I do have a hard time envisioning it feeling like it is 3-4 times ...

Odds are it wouldn't with the settings they have added in for PC and at the levels this is running at. If you wanted to run X1X settings on this card, I'm sure it would push out much higher than 60fps (though at some point it'd end up CPU bound more than likely).

Not throwing shade at the X1X - still a great machine for the money - just the reality of things. You'd certainly hope something that costs 3 times as much on its own as an entire console could do ...

Don't forget Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U! So there have been 3 at least, though I still feel your point stands.

And I've enjoyed XBC1 and X, but I can say for sure that if I was asked what the best RPG series was that it would not have been the first one on my mind.

If they own an X or Pro, I'm guessing the ratio to owners and 4k TVs is rather high. I mean, you can get decent 4k sets - decent, not amazing - for like $200ish these days. Seems well within reason to me.
