The discussion surrounding the PS5 dev kit is that it is shaped that way because most developers tend to stack units on top of one another, so this way it allowed them to do that while also being properly ventilated. You and I both know there is no way Sony would ever release anything to the public that looked like that lol.
Hardware design across all Sony divisions has historically been, at worst, average - and most normally above. If they could squeeze the PS4 and its po...
By that measure, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 (98) and GTA4 (98) were better than Zelda BotW, Super Mario Odyssey, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metroid Prime and Gran Turismo. I don't think Metacritic is a place you can go to to "prove" anything with "facts". They weight reviews differently, remove reviews, don't count certain reviews...I mean, it's a good way to get a general idea of a game, but that's about it. And pointing to two games that are a point or 2...
It's true everything needs improvements, but of all the consoles I've owned I've never seen one stagnate as much as the Switch has after 3 years. I mean, they haven't even added folders! I like my Switch just fine - it isn't an entirely garbage machine by any stretch - but it is possibly one of the most disappointing I've owned; it feels like it's unable to reach its full potential (given the lack of any additional features), and the way Nintendo prices its games m...
Definitely in the same boat. The market taught me to wait for sales, and I'd get a lot of games cheaper & nice 'n patched up. But Nintendo didn't get the memo, so I end up spending my money just about anywhere else.
Maybe other people are OK spending $90 on XBC2 and Torna 2 years after launch, but I'm certainly not. I could buy 8 months of Humble Choice for that! Or at least 4 physical games on any other platform. I've had this Switch a while, but h...
Can't one care about both?
I'm in a similar spot. I've had the Switch for about 2 years. I played Mario Odyssey and M+R: Kingdom Battle right after I got it, then nothing for like a year (I played BotW on my Wii U). I just ordered FE:3H, so hopefully I'll enjoy that when it gets here. I'm eyeing Astral Chain and maybe one other game, but that's about it.
The pricing on older games (XB2 for $60 still), the pricing on "smaller" games (Yoshi for $60?!), and the pricing for ...
Exactly, no folders is baffling! I mean, I'm shocked they've added effectively nothing new for 3 years, but the folders...I just want to be able to make sense of my library!
All I want is to launch my game too. If they would give me folders, I could keep things tidy and find the game I want to launch faster, without having to sift through other games, demos, and archived game tiles to get to it. Mostly what you want is the first tile, but sometimes you'd like something else and it just feels kind of messy, even in the "library" view.
If they just let me have folders and then let me sort those how I liked, I'd be happy. Don...
Sort of, but the Switch is definitely a LOT more barebones. I would probably not care about the Switch UI much if they just gave us folders. As is, I hate that all the demos, archived game tiles, small eshop titles and larger "aa/aaa" games are all smashed together. If I could just clean up the UI with folders, I'd be a lot happier.
They've given us basically no new features since it launched almost 3 years ago, but I still can't believe they didn'...
I just want folders! I don't need a million options, but let me make like...a "favorites" folder, a "demos" folder, and maybe like an "archived" folder. Then I can find things faster, get to exactly what I want without having to scroll to the end to hit the "library", and then have to sift through everything in one large pile.
I have 4 folders on my PS4 screen, a few "groups" on my Xbox screen...it makes things easier t...
Yeah, I really hate the Xbox's UI. It has too many options and windows and sub menus all kind of stitched together, completely lacking in instinctual navigation. You can learn it through time, but I absolutely hated how disparate and non-sensical it felt.
I opted into the beta program so I could try out the new UI, and it is at least better than what's available on the current stable branch. You can pin things and make groups to make the layout simple and easily nav...
@isarai This article says, right in the description "in the UK". Your link is for amazon.com, so US. On the amazon.co.uk site, a Switch is available to buy now for £398.99, which is just stupid - as the article states.
I mean, I know N4G doesn't like reading the actual article and just comments on the headline, but hopefully we aren't trending towards not even reading the 1 line descriptions underneath lol.
I think Nintendo released the Switch as a way to compete in the short term and allow themselves to pivot where the market goes in the future. They just released a Switch Lite, and that timing is no mistake. They are giving themselves the option to turn the Switch into their new Handheld and release a new, more powerful home console if needs be.
I guarantee they have options brewing at Nintendo HQ for home console options right now, with the ability to announce one right aro...
I mean, it's gaming. Unless we're talking sales figures or tech specs, it's all opinions.
I don't understand why the hell people seem to require the use of "in my opinion" or IMHO or something to point out that they are clearly stating their opinion. You yourself even noted that you understand that the concept of finding something better is a subjective one. Thus, you have the context to understand that what is being said is their personal opinion....
Guess we know what tomorrows Jimquisition will be about lol
FWIW, Days Gone is available for $20 just about everywhere right now so if you have gift cards or reward certificates, you can grab it wherever you might have those to help minimize out of pocket cost.
I also bit at $20 during black friday (had a $5 reward zone certificate from BB to sweeten the deal), but had so many other games going on I didn't really end up playing it for more than an hour. I will say the game looks good (not as good as HZD or Spider Man, but good)....
"I can think of no other studio or game that embodies the spirit of perseverance more than Bungie and their games Destiny and Destiny 2."
As far as I'm concerned, Hello Games and No Man's Sky would get the larger nod over Bungie if looking to that specific criteria. And Hello Games went through an even bigger hurdle before release, having to rewrite years of code that was lost after a flood took out all their backups. Bungie had years of successful games b...
From article:
"The long-running Monster Hunter series with their diverse weapon class playstyles ranging from fast combos to more deliberate play has always drawn us together as a team."
So gameplay wise, I'd look more to that in terms of playstyles and loot instead of Dark Souls.
@AngelicIceDiamond Caught off guard? This game was shown off at the Game Awards, same time the Xbox Series X was shown off. It showed scraps of "in engine footage", the same as Hellblade.
And essentially, all that Xbox revealed was a name and console render. MS "went first" for this gen as well, showing off more and announcing pricing. And, as far as we can tell, that was exactly what Sony planned for.
All to say, I personally wouldn...
I think the main difference is that if, for example, the PS5 ends up being weaker it is because they are going to lean on upscaling hardware like they did with the Pro. And other than forum wars pointing to pixel counts, the overwhelming number of games built natively at 4k or upscaled to 4k would look very similar (if the power delta between systems is relatively small).
I have a gaming PC that I also have hooked up to my TV. When I'm playing couch-distance away, I th...
