There are still plenty of modders who are doing intense work on texture packs. I assume those who use AI are learning how to use it or already use it in their work in some fashion and are applying those techniques in the hobby they love. It's just going to be an option. I don't think the existence of these AI packs is actually being done by those who do full texture work themselves, so it isn't an either/or scenario.
And brighter side could be if enough work get...
World of Goo, while a great game, seems a strange choice. I loved that game...over 10 years ago. It has been so cheap and had bundle opportunities that, at this point, those who care about it will have likely already got it (and to buy it would be pretty trivial in terms of cost to players).
I'm sure it sounds like I'm complaining about free stuff - I assure you I'm not lol. They've really had some great options so far (even if I've owned most on Steam a...
This is not meant to detract from your points - they still stand perfectly well as is - but just wanted to throw out as an FYI/PSA that Octopath will be coming to PC in about a month and a half, so it isn't exactly a "Nintendo" game, so to speak. At least in the same ways as the other games you mentioned.

Not every game will be a blockbuster hit. Not all of them will develop a community on each platform. Your argument is make a better game. Let's ignore this game specifically and focus on the big picture, not just individual games.
Bottom line is there's no argument to be made for keeping games restricted to one platform. Net positive keeping it restricted: none. Net positive for allowing cross platform multiplayer: more players to play with, more MP games find an au...
Hilarious, Samuel! And good point too, very amusing post. But I can do you one better, Sammy boy!
I bought a Lamborghini Veneno for each one of my many, many servants as their work vehicles. I wouldn't want them to be driving Jaguar E-types...people might think I was poor, only making $73 an hour LOL!
I became a millionaire overnight by clicking this link: www.instantmillionair.com and wow, they just gave me millions of dollars! Just because! Cushier ...
I don't understand. You say that gaming sites have 5 out of 10 as average, but then later say that people believe the scale starts at 7 and is why the system is so screwed up. The latter I agreed with you with in my initial comment, and the former explaining why he wasn't wrong for thinking 7 out of 10 is average (which you even acknowledged yourself as understanding). You do not see games score a 50 on metacritic and think "yea, that's probably a fine game".

I think that what you said is a point in their favor, though. Smaller games that rely on a multiplayer component for the bulk of their value are going to struggle when confined to individual platforms. There's really no reason to silo platforms from one another these days.
I love my PS4, Son'ys lack of interest in supporting crossplay isn't really bothering me since I'm mostly a single player gamer (and I also play a ton on PC), but I don't really find t...
She was asked for her opinion on a relevant topic. The topic? The last game that she worked on which was cancelled for, as far as anyone can tell, no good reason. She was working on UC4 until she left ND in mid 2014. She joined EA about a month later and started work on Ragtag. Ragtag was in "deep development", so we know she was working on that for years, and it was ultimately cancelled in late 2017. She has since moved on to a new game which is in development. How can you give her...
This is a truly interesting scenario, though. They have outright promised no MTX now, nor to be added in later. I don't believe any similarly high-profile game has made such a claim - certainly not EA, at least. I'm not saying it can't happen, but if they backtrack on that statement after making a promise that was not only public, but part of their marketing push...that would be an indefensible position, and EA would have a *very* bad time.
If only EA had come to the same realization about Frostbite....
From article:
According to him, the engine ended up not becoming as widespread as Ubisoft initially planned because “the tools were difficult to use.” Ubisoft did have greater ambitions for the engine, with Yves even saying that “at one point we wanted to give them to everybody [in Ubisoft].” [...] That being said, Ubisoft noticed that they would have to “spend a lot of time with a lot of pe...
Perhaps you aren't from the US and it is different in other parts of the world? Here, a 6/10 is a D, 7/10 a C, 8/10 a B and so on. Grade-wise, a "C" is average in the US, hence why SPEAK said what he said. That's part of the problem with the review scale, though. It seems to be the reason we don't see many game reviewers use numbers below 6. If 5 was average, we'd have more variable scores. As is, games appear to have to be borderline broken for reviewers to use the ...
I know I have to allow for my perception of things to be incorrect until I've tried it to confirm, but this writer sounds like he's never actually used VR (his reply in the comment section infers he has, but I remain somewhat skeptical). Saying things like "If you’ve never experienced VR, or have and weren’t fully convinced by the other hardware on the market, I think you’ll find Nintendo’s Labo VR kit worth checking out" really stretches the limits to me.

Ooof. People don't understand the English language, even people who get paid to write for a living. It is understandable to see in comment sections and the like, but pains me when I see "understate" used interchangeably with "overstate" in professionally written pieces.
Give me a shot, Polygon. I promise I won't make errors like that :-p
So strange when your experience is so out of whack with everyone else's. I got my Switch a few months after launch. Enjoyed Odyssey and Kingdom Battle. Golf Story was meh. And that's it. I'm not interested in Yoshi's Crafted World or Pokemon. I'm kind of interested in Octopath, I liked Xenoblade Chronicles/X, but 2 seems less of a surefire hit for me. I still have my Wii U, so all those ports have zero value for me since I own all the ones that interest me.
I said this below, but figured it couldn't hurt to clarify here as well.
He's referring to "Netflix and Chill", which does have a secondary connotation. If someone asks someone else if they want to come back to their place to "Netflix and Chill", they are indirectly suggesting/alluding to sex. Dictionary.com even has it as part of its definition:

I just wanted to add, in terms of the "3rd person not VR" discussion, we have games like Chronos and Hellblade in VR, and they are excellent implementations. I don't think requiring the player to be some larger, outside entity is necessary for it to be "true VR", or any such designation.
That said, our posts are very similar in our reasoning to be skeptical of Labo VR, so no surprise I agree that Zelda's VR implementation is not going to impress...
@Segata No idea why you are getting downvoted. Biomutant is made by Experiment 101 (subsidiary of THQ Nordic), is published by THQ, and is coming to PC, Xbox and PS4.
Days Gone is shaping up better the more I see of it. It started off looking fine, but it did feel kind of rote - at least they way they showed it off at the start. But I do think this game will end up surprising people - seems like it has improved every time it has been shown.
Well, this is perhaps the worst iteration of VR, so I would be very confused if it was something that managed to change your mind on VR lol.
It is Google Cardboard with a larger screen and lower resolution than any phone. It has no tracked controllers. It relies entirely on gyroscope. It has no head strap...you have to hold it up to your face. This experience is going to be kind of a fun gimmick, but it is going to be a pretty poor representation of VR overall. I hope they ...
I will say that with a game like this, it isn't bad to jump in and out of. You can slot back in pretty quickly and not really miss a beat. And I think it can be beneficial because this game can get a bit samey after all that time. The main quest can take a huge chunk of time to get through, much less than knowing you've got all the DLC to do as well. Depending on how you deal with potential game fatigue, this can be a good game to break up a bit I think.
