I'll be curious if they make one. If they do, it won't look like they did, at least. Ubisoft retired the UbiArt framework used to make these games, apparently because the tools were too hard to work with across their many studios. Which is a bummer for sure, as I feel those games having a fairly unique aesthetic also benefitted them.

EDIT: Apparently I misremembered. They did say "hence the decision to temporarily put it aside", but they also said "it...

It's funny, in general it isn't a shock. But FFXV was really well done, so there was at least *some* hope this could have been similar. Alas....

It's all opinions. It became clear after watching the recent 50 min gameplay video, as well as reading the game's website, that this was not really gonna be for me. It is a primarily exploration focused game, with removing the gunk appearing to be the only real gameplay mechanic. It would rate lower for me, I'm sure, but if someone is really into exploration games then I wouldn't say they are biased in saying the game is a 9.

I think we're all a little ...

Given how good FFXV was in terms of their PC port, having PC specific features & a robust settings menu, this is both surprising & disappointing. They found the investment worthwhile the first time around, so I wonder why they skimped out this time?

Wow, their RT specs are HEAVY. An RTX 2070 for 1080p30 and an RTX 3080 for 1080p60? Wheeewwwy. Hopefully this is for native res, as if it is 1080p with DLSS then I've got questions lol.

I've only got an RTX 3060Ti and like to play at 1440p with 60 fps minimum, generally more like 90+ on my VRR displays. I wonder if at least low RT at 1440p60 is doable on my rig. I definitely won't be going sub 60fps, so if it is between that and RT I guess, sadly, RT will have ...

They just copied it over wrong, the actual tweet does say 10GB:

EDIT: Just noticed that there is no AMD card even suggested for Min or Rec spec for ray tracing in the official image: https://twitter.com/DyingLi...

ORIG: I find it weird that their AMD spec for Min and Recommended is the RX Vega 56...that's weird, when the jump between the RTX 2070 and 3080 is pretty massive. Wonder what the deal with that is. ...

It's $15 on Steam, so I imagine it'll be the same on PSVR. It's definitely got the indie feel to it. Some of the best VR stuff is indie, but the first user review on Steam does not instill one with confidence lol.

It's an interesting change, and I'll be curious to see what the change ends up meaning (if anything), but gore does not make or break a game for me. I enjoyed the first one, so I'd be keeping an interested eye on this even if the devs came out and said the zombies would spew fountains of sour apple Gushers filling.

I'm sure it is coming. Not only do they have a PC version that runs on x86 already, they just updated HZD on PC after 16 months with some upgrades & fixes; seems unlikely they did that out of the blue. I'm guessing they added in changes they were making for a PS5 version, perhaps even using PC as a testing ground for changes before they put it out on PS5.

Interestingly, that's how I felt for a little while when I first started gaming on PC, even as a multiplatform game player. I didn't spend all this money to get a mostly just prettied up console version. I wasn't fuming over it, but it was a bummer knowing PC's full potential was held back by the rapidly aging console hardware. But as time went on, I was happy to know I could always get a high-res, high-refresh game on the PC, on top of whatever extra bells were thrown on top....

I've seen it for $10 a lot of times on console, but never $5 - and I go to deal sites multiple times a day lol. That's a good get. If I could get a copy for PC for $5-10, I'd take a chance at that price. Hopefully either we get a similarly low price soon, or their updates next year prove to make the game worth more than the low price I'm currently willing to pay.

I think the fact they basically said "yeah, last gen is running surprisingly well" in the lead up to launch, and then still sold it on launch day on those platforms at full price & with no warnings of its condition, pretty much evidences that they did rip people off. This game got its money back - development & marketing included - in pre-orders alone. They did that on the backs of tons of last gen console owners that got a bum product, and you can bet only a (comparably) sm...

I wonder if most people who are more positive on it played it after the initial wave of negativity.

For example, I played The Order 1886 a few months after its release, and got it for $24 (just looked it up lol). I thought it was a pretty decent game, but I got it cheap & I went in with gutter-low expectations. I figured, worst case, I'd enjoy the visuals (and damn, are they still pretty) and sell it on if it sucked too bad to want to keep in my collection. I ended ...

I think it is possible a next-gen update could fix that. I don't know how their systems work, granted, but in general I'm guessing they allowed themselves more of every resource - CPU, GPU, RAM - when making the first version. In getting it to run on last gen, in the case of NPCs, I'm guessing they ran out of CPU & RAM to run not only the amount of NPCs they showed off in their first trailer, but the breadth of different NPCs as well. Probably had to run duplicated textures &a...

Funny AF? AF? I mean, if you want to say they are chuckle worthy, I could buy that. Even knowing we all have different senses of humor, I find it hard to believe people think they are funny AF. Maybe I'm overestimating how AF is used these days, but I generally think in this instance it'd mean like "I'm cackling out loud, they are so hilarious".

I'm going to clarify that I only played for not quite 2 hours. Perhaps they improve, but I found their c...

It's not a live service game, though. It is an online only game, but there aren't purchasable currencies. There isn't a transmog cost like Destiny - you can swap stuff around freely. They just recently launched a decent sized expansion for free. The SOLE item you can buy right now is a little cosmetics pack that launched alongside the game; plenty of normal games have little trinket packs exactly like it.

They will launch a paid expansion in the future, but it r...

Hmmmm.

"The only thing that the description doesn’t mention is the fact that ANVIL is a twin-stick shooter, and that things are randomly generated each time you play."

They mention in the description for the game that it is a "roguelike", procedural generation is pretty much what that word means these days lol.

But good catch, noticing this is effectively a retooled mobile game by the same devs. Curious choice.

Yeah, we both know that was an attempt at a pithy one-word comment, rather than a true stance. I can't imagine someone fundamentally misunderstanding English to that degree lol.

Hmmm. The environmental design looks nice, but I guess I thought there was going to be more "game" to this game. It seems like it is more categorized as a pure exploration game with little else going on. Looking at the game's page on the dev's website, I see that's pretty much the case. 3 of the 4 highlighted features are "Engaging Exploration", "Narrative", and "music & atmosphere".

The 4th is "eradicating gunk&q...
