I still don't think the author made a compelling argument by saying since MS bought Bethesda, FO5 is coming sooner than we think. I think it likely comes down to when the visionaries/directors/etc are available for making the mainline titles.

Bethesda has so much money, I don't think it was more hands they needed. If all they needed to pump out mainline games was another studio, I have to think they'd have already done that. Given the last time they added a stud...

@got

Yeah, I know about the absurd current monetization, but I imagine that'll only last so long. Very few people are going to be willing to spend thousands on a digital ship, and most of those are going to be purchased before the game launches. So I still think they're going to have to stuff the game with MTX - MICROtransactions - to make money off the common folk. They're gonna use up their whales pretty hard by the time the game actually releases...at least, ...

I am interested in the game, but I'm not interested in buying something like this early. Even with all their money, the feature creep and massive scope means a successful completed game is not a guarantee. I almost picked up a pack during the holiday when it was on sale, but opted not to in the end. So I think there will be some, but I've had the same thought. If they want to keep making money on this game, I can't help but fear gross MTX stuff is going to be stuffed into this gam...

Indeed. And given it is a Drinkbox game, I'm pretty hopeful. Really enjoyed both Guacamelee games, and even their older game Tales from Space was pretty good.

Fair enough. I just heard that even if you don't traditionally like that kind of thing, there's enough going on in it that you'd still probably like it. And that it was going to change RPGs going forward. Things like that, so I guess I just felt like there'd be a game in here somewhere. Bummer.

I mean, at least in Point and Clicks you tend to have to pick up items & solve some kind of puzzles. I think the closest I've come to that is "there'...

I'm not as immediately against it as others seem to be here, but the visuals and vibes do certainly give off one of a PS3/PS4 crossgen title rather than 4/5.

Was never super hyped for this one since I didn't know hardly anything about it...not much has changed.

I'll toss mine out there as well.

Little Devil Inside
Weird West
Tunic
UFO 50
Sea of Stars
Nimoyd
Hellsweeper VR
Loot River
Outlier
Replaced
Nobody Saves the World
Sifu
Stray

Didn't have a 14th, but stole Cult of the Lamb off monkey602 - like the aesthetics of that one, if nothing else.

Midnight Fight Express looks pretty cool - kinda like if My Friend Pedro & Hotline Miami had an isometric baby or something.

I also noticed its a Humble published game, which is a gift and a curse. Generally they are good games, so that's a good sign. Bummer is that there's a 75% chance that it'll end up in a Humble Choice bundle in about a year, so I'll probably keep that one on hold for a while.

(I also almost put The Last Night on ...

"and eventually Fallout 5, which, if Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda is anything to go by, is likely coming sooner than we think."

I'm not sure what MS buying Bethesda has to do with FO5 releasing earlier. The game is in whatever stage of development it is in, and Bethesda have enough other projects in the works - and existing IP to work from - to make it a worthwhile purchase for MS without the release window of FO5 needing to be pulled forward.

Wonder if he was comparing a new DualSense to an old DualShock. The sticks are going to loosen up at least a little over time with repeated use.

There needs to be someone to come out & clarify NFT use in gaming. Like, truly clear. We know NFTs as basically this meme-y garbage that - frankly - dumb, rich people dabble in.

My step-bro has managed to make like $200k from trading around idiotic PNGs of animals, fake race horses, weird jank like that...it's madness. I don't see how this immediately translates to games, but I have heard a *little* from more respectable game devs about how they want to implemen...

Definitely an issue, trying to get the 2D speed to translate into a viable 3D product. I think if they focus on making a good game *with* Sonic, rather than - I'm sorry to say - trying to translate all the iconic 2D Sonic mechanics into a 3D world, that they'll be better off.

Given this is open world, maybe keep his massive spin-dash speed to traversal between main areas, and otherwise keep spin-dash relegated to gameplay specific things like breaking walls/clearing...

Some of this is fair, some of this is general issues ($70 is same on XB & Square is trying it on PC), and some seems more like "This just in: being an early adopter isn't the best experience".

And let's not forget, Xbox changed their user interface drastically so many times on both the 360 & XBO I kind of lost count. They would have been insane to try something new after literally just settling on one. I hated trying to navigate that thing; with a...

Anyone else play Disco Elysium? I'm just not immediately hooked, and not quite sure I get the massive hype surrounding it. I've been playing it & it feels mostly like a massive visual novel. You walk around, you click on people or things that are highlighted, you ingest the dialog, maybe get an item, and move on to the next.

It's a well done story so far, but it is just a story so far as I can tell. I know there are a lot of stats & such that come into p...

Throughout his career, he has made many unique games. I think there's perhaps a notion that on games he's a producer on, and not director, he doesn't have as much involvement. For example, in Boktai - a GBA game with a photovoltaic sensor in it to charge attacks with the power of the sun - he's not the director. But reading an interview, you can tell that this is definitely his game:

1) If you like FSR, check out Nvidia Image Scaling since you have a GTX card, assuming you haven't already. It's a driver level setting that does a comparable job to FSR in upscaling games, and you can use that in any game. You can access it either through the Nvidia Control Panel or, more easily, Gefore Experience.

2) I'm not sure what you mean by FSR mode "without lowering the resolution in the video settings". The whole thing with FSR/NIS/DLSS is th...

I didn't say he nitpicked anything. I'm not sure you meant to reply to me, because practically nothing you said makes any sense. They didn't even say anything about playing MS options from the PC...an odd way to phrase, but I think I get your meaning.

And you're right. I'm definitely the crazy one. When someone says "can ONLY be enjoyed on a PlayStation", that wording definitely doesn't potentially indicate that...ya know...it can't be ...

@darthv72

Gotcha! All that sounds good & makes good sense to me.

And I don't care if they are exclusives either, it was just your wording of saying you've "strictly stuck to its own games", so I took that to mean you had 33 games you could only play there.

@darthv72

I've seen you around, but I can't remember what other platforms you own. Do you also play on PC? That might be part of the issue I have, too. Lots of the indies & such that might be Switch console only can be bought on PC as well (and in better fidelity), or previously owned on PC that ended up getting a Switch port later.

And I was slowly turning the Switch into my portable little indie machine, but stopped that after I pre-ordered ...
