My tinfoil hat is snugly on, because I feel like if we look a little deeper, we might end up finding the groups pushing these things are founded/funded by those looking to profit off a disruption of the payment processing market. Could be a new/small company who will happily use this vacuum as a foothold, or those looking to make money off crypto.
With BTC going up to new highs all the time suddenly, I could see some wealthy people stockpiling now knowing an attempt is bein...
I don't think anyone contends anyone is forced to play anything. Moreso, just the general feeling we all start getting at different times for different trends, genres, mechanics, etc. Barebones TLDR: at one time, open world fatigue started as a minority grumble. Eventually, it became a more mainstream feeling. I feel like this just might be the beginnings of that grumble for Souls-likes.

It kind of feels as if each new release focusing on "topi...
I found that AMD clearly changed the drivers - you can see the link he hovers over shows a slightly different URL on the bottom as opposed to what you see now. Doesn't get you the proper press driver. Daniel Owens ran into the same issue. So for non-optiscaler, native support, we're just gonna have to keep on waiting.
I just wonder how they couldn't either time up the driver release to sync up with this, or to at least communicate WHEN the damn thing is likely ...
Yeah, and the sad thing is - from all most can tell - YT has now deemed these kinds of thumbnails as practically necessary. Hard to say if it is that people are stupid, or just that a guy like Mr. Beast got popular with this style of dumb thumbnail, and thus the cycle began: Mr. Beast is popular, this is what his shit looks like...so look like that, or your views are going to suffer.
I mean, there are even studies showing it doesn't matter if the circles or arrows point...
Good to hear that they have the ability to self-identify weaknesses like this, but uh...Sony spent $3.6 BILLION for them, primarily due to their "expertise" in making live-service games, and helping to guide other studios and broad decisions about projects...and with expertise like this, clearly they were a great voice to listen to about things like, I don't know, cancelling TLoU MP.
No one understood at the time why they spent so much, but PS/Jim Ryan were SO...
I don't think that's entirely fair. For starters, the content of this article - clickbaity title aside - seems pretty comprehensive & well presented. I think it holds up on its own merits for the most part.
Aside from that, the "7 reasons" article itself generally praises Switch 1 and uses that praise to contrast their complaints with Switch 2. It's not, say, trashing it compared to newer gen consoles or something. The conclusion feels pretty bala...
I think the potential problem here is a lack of clarity and tone: is the discussion that XBOX - right now - is "daring to be different" and is thus primed for their turnaround like the Wii & PS4? Or are you saying that they have the chance to turn it around, but that has to start now?
It's tonally problematic because I think most would agree THIS should be the generation Xbox had used its learnings to bounce back. Last gen was their failed gen, so this sho...
I have to question at this point:
Do MS even HAVE a PR team?
Having all of these closures, game cancellations, figure heads contradicting each other, having leaders send letters filled with PR speak and lacking any genuine appearance of emotion or remorse, all while talking about how they've never been more profitable...for it to get EVEN WORSE is an impressive feat of ineptitude.
Not only is all that followed by this headline about...
As a Switch 1 & 2 owner, I feel conflicted with reviews for things like this; hard to not feel cynical. I feel these reviews should really focus scoring less on the core experience - we already have a judgement on that from 2017 - but rather more on its value. And given - by all appearances - that this is a poor value cash grab, the scoring should be pretty brutal. (And they really should have given permanent access to the upgrades when redeemed by NSO members. Would have helped spur NSO ...
Yeah, CE's are definitely weird. I collect a lot of physical games, and the occasional CE, so I detest digital code CE's.
That said, we're at a weird impasse of sorts. I understand the desire to remove console-specific pack ins to make the CE trinket boxes viable to buyers on every platform. I honestly think it makes sense - less waste & better overall availability; even if one platform is selling far better than another, the stock of CE items can be better ...
I think there's a weird expectation/understanding surrounding PSSR. I get it, as it feels like it was initially billed as almost the primary selling point of the Pro. However, we've gotten a lot more information through leaks and interviews over time that seem to paint a fairly clear picture: The Pro was ready to ship, FSR4 was not, so PSSR was used as a stopgap solution.
It wasn't long after launch that we heard about Project Amethyst, telling us all what the f...
And just to kinda add on to that, doesn't it feel like that should signal something to these companies? Maybe....game development is too long and expensive these days, and perhaps a little course correction is in order?
"AAA" barely works, and even when it does, results in a lot of safe, cookie cutter experiences. And even then, look at where we are: thousands of job cuts, studio closures, downsizing...it's confounding that they refuse to try anything diff...
After The Initiative and Skull and Bones, I have to imagine the stink on "AAAA" will kill the use of the term for anyone but the most uninformed of gaming PR reps.
Good point, though it makes it all the more confusing. Most people have found this to be pretty lackluster all around, so it begs the question why they wasted their valuable time and money on this as a launch title. Use those resources on something that would appeal to far more people, a la Astro Bot or Nintendo's own Wii Sports. Great little launch titles, with more fun and more content than this...for $0. It's not a flattering comparison, and Nintendo opted to put the game under a h...
"the do nothing, feel everything stylings of GTA" is not something I've ever experienced. I'm well aware I'm one of a truly small group that doesn't enjoy GTA, but I fell for the GTA4 hype and bought in Day 1. It was a useful lesson to trust my gut over even universal acclaim.
I've just never clicked with it, and I found the myriad mechanics - while impressive in their quantity - didn't really feel good in isolation. Jack of all trades, ma...
I'm generally rather good at puzzle/logic/et al typed games, but The Witness, specifically, made me feel like an obtuse idiot. I got the line puzzle thing for a while, and then the rules became more & more obscure. I gave up without making it particularly far into the game...
Now, I put part of the blame on my own skill, certainly, but also on the game for just...being nothing but 1,000 of the same kind of line draw puzzles the entire time. There are a few cool twi...
Wow, didn't even know this came out, but looking on Steam shows that practically no one is enjoying this version (mostly negative). Noobfeed almost sound like they played a completely different game.
Considering how many games on Switch 1 struggled with either performance or resolution (sometimes both), I wouldn't have any qualms with a bunch of updates...as long as the majority are free.
Most PS4 games, for example, give PS5 upgrades for no cost. If it adds content, charge for content, but the core res/fps bumps should just be free patches. Nintendo charging for the Zelda updates feels really stingy. It's a res/fps bump that's only other value add is a weir...
The only *possible* hypothetical beneficial strategy I can see is this being a gamble to try & solve a few of the OG Switch's physical release issues. And a lot of it is a gamble around economies of scale, though a failed gamble would just makes them all worse (clarified at the bottom).
1) Removing multiple storage options would stop companies from, for example, putting out multi game collections where only 1 out of a 3 game collection ends up on the shipped cartrid...
Was gonna say this felt almost too soon after Daybreak II, but realized that launched in Japan in Sept. 2022, and this game already launched in Japan Sept. 2024. So it's kinda interesting to see them have this ready over a year sooner than the last English release.
And 2 years for core development time (for native release, anyway) is pretty good these days, even for AA like this. Always makes me wonder if the numbers really do show that these AA endeavors just provide ...
