Perhaps more like a sparkly pin for the beige turtleneck.

We were advertised to be getting an eye-searing Cosby Sweater, full of colors and patterns...and ended up getting a viable open world game instead. Didn't reinvent the wheel, but serviceable. The core, of course, not the performance shitshow that last-gen ended up being (and mostly remains). This at least makes that a little nicer. Hopefully they plan on continuing to update & build upon the core. I want to s...

I feel like you can kind of draw that (somewhat uncharitable) conclusion if reading between the lines & extrapolating.

"We believe that both first-time purchasers of Nintendo Switch and those who already own the hardware are interested in purchasing new titles."

That's a weird comment. Almost like they are saying they assumed people would be forever happy to buy old titles, and only now are realizing they might actually want new titles. ...

You'd almost think this was their first console, only now coming to this conclusion. As one of the earliest players in the space, it really feels like they should be leading in this regard.

I'm still thankful to hear it. I've been very disappointed with Nintendo this generation, feeling like they've been pumping out a lot of same-y stuff that hasn't really appealed to me. The start of the Switch was exciting, with mechanically interesting games like BotW...

I think there was a miscommunication here. You are talking about NPC problems. I said I think the PS4 and XBO versions, in terms of NPCs, were the same and the PS4 Pro and X versions were different. You agreed the One X versions was superior to the PS4 Pro, which are the versions I said were different. So there, we're in agreement, not sure why you said I was incorrect?

As I recall from the DF video (been a while at this point), the largest difference on XSX and PS5 was...

Very weird! Must have been a temporary glitch. 1 of the google links still says "not available for purchase", but the other does work now. And it takes you to the same page as the one at the end of the article, which used to show $49.99 (when I looked initially). I see it does say $24.99 now. How weird.

Insofar as I could tell, no. Looked at them both at 4k on their respective youtube streams, swapped back and forth. Looked nigh on identical to me. I'm sure Digital Foundry will let us know what the differences are, but I'm expecting pretty much parity here. Maybe XSX will have the customary minor res bump over PS5, but I'm guessing that's about it.

1451d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Noticeably? I'll at least say presumably lol. I know XSX tends to have the pixel peepers edge on resolution, but I was curious and fired both of them up on youtube at 4k & couldn't easily tell a difference. Then again, I'll also play a lot of demanding PC games on my TV at 1440p to try and eek out as high a refresh rate as I can manage, and be completely content with the sharpness at couch distance, so perhaps I'm just easier to please.

As I recall, the base versions were the same and it was just the Pro/X versions that were different, right? Given this update/version is focused on the current-gen, I'm guessing they will have NPC parity and last-gen will stay whatever last-gen has.

I've always felt bad for the devs, it was clear that this game was a failure of those at the top. It was mismanaged, and then pushed out the door by higher-ups looking to take their bonuses & appease shareholders.

After the disaster launch, perhaps shareholders might accept that waiting is a better alternative to launching a lit bag of dung & asking people to happily pay full price for it.

1451d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Appears that may have been a mistake? I googled it and saw that price, but if you click those links they lead to pages saying it isn't for sale. And the link at the end of the article brings you to a page that shows $49.99. Can probably still find a physical copy for under $20 anyway, but weird.

What is this new kind of bot? Not trying to sell us anything, but also not saying anything of any value or substance. Hobby project?

Wow. I didn't know that only 1 of those campaigns is included in Game Pass. Just read this in a different article:

"The game’s campaign is split into two parts, Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre. While the first part, Catalyst, is free for Xbox Game Pass members, Spectre is available as a paid add-on."

That feels incredibly cheap, given they are about 3 hours a piece. Not that it matters if they are both awful, but still. How very biz...

@Captain

I'm expecting that MS probably just got their name attached after providing money to keep it off of PlayStation - seems, in this instance, they did them a favor lol. I don't think they put more money into this game, or provided any technical support. I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure the specific arrangement.

That said, companies can also see the writing on the wall. That a product is not going to turn out well after their investm...

Been holding out on picking this up, even with a PC decent enough to play it. I'm hoping whatever they announce is more than just a coat of next-gen paint, but actually an improvement to the core of what they released. Something that's even fractionally closer to what they were advertising in those Night City Wire videos. Hopefully they have the drive and integrity to do so; to make CP2077 the game they clearly wanted (and advertised).

Yeah, I mean Remedy are solid devs. I think we all suspected this wasn't going to be getting the full dev-team, full focus treatment or anything. But I would have expected that whatever crew they put on this - even just a small B/C-team - would be able to pump out a 7/10 campaign.

Seems like Remedy provided the Northlight Engine, but little else. Wonder if this was a case of not caring about their foster-game, or Smilegate just not being willing to put up enough money t...

Presumably to play PS exclusives in the best quality, and then future titles that will fully take advantage of the hardware.

I kind of feel you, though. On the one hand, it's mainly impressive what they've managed to pull off on PS4. On the other, it shows just how thoroughly a cross-gen release this is. PS5 has the 60fps thing going for it, which is huge, but there isn't much else jumping out at me, graphically speaking, over the last-gen versions. I would have...

You're 100% right to be that guy. That mentality makes no sense. If you only focus on the worst things going on in the world as your measuring stick, then literally no one is ever in a position to complain about anything unless they're in the worst position of any single person in the entire world.

I mean, Russia is about to invade Ukraine, so I think this guy should probably not be wasting his time reading gaming websites, much less writing comments on them. If th...

I'm also interested in this version of Kirby, when I haven't been too stoked on Kirby in a while. My initial thoughts were "Super Kirby Odyssey" as well, and I think it works as a comparison for the jump of a traditionally simple game getting an open world treatment.

But I do think we'd be doing the game a disservice going in with Odyssey level expectations. Looking at more trailers, I don't think this game will be as large & varied as Odyssey....

Then again, XBO launched at $500 as the sole option against a $400 PS4. Both PS5 consoles are as, or more, expensive than PS4 was. XSS is cheaper than either last gen console launched for.

Not sure what the bottom line is when all is considered, given the fact the more expensive versions are still hard to get & XSS is the only one you can currently get off the shelf (and even get discounts on, incredibly). But I do think we need to consider all the information to try to...

For me, price & collectability as much as anything else. You can often get physical copies cheaper than digital, & the console of today will be the retro console of tomorrow. How many games do you really need to take with you if you're leaving the house anyway? Do you tend to swap a lot? I tend to stick to 1 or 2, so digital isn't a big plus for me.

And it's just nice to have the physical copies while you can. You know they're going away at some poin...
