I also really appreciate this art style, but I can't help but feel these should be cheaper games as well. They are able to use much smaller teams, do less intense art & engine work, and - in the case of this article - are remakes to boot, so they have a template to work from.
$50-60 for these games doesn't feel right to me.
They will/are. If you're on PC, at least. Bravely Default I & II are on PC. About a 6 month lag for BD2. Square enjoys their money, and basically every platform that has one of their games as an exclusive is simply timed. PC is the safest bet for these games to come to after Switch, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have wider releases as well.
Less so than a lot of unreleased products, at least. We have seen teardowns from Valve & iFixit, gotten CAD files of the machine direct from Valve, view the evolving compatibility list, and gotten reviews with at least some performance metrics.
Still, we'll have the best picture once it finally gets wide release here. Not much longer to wait!
15 months after release to fix a core mechanic? I mean, better late than never I guess :-p
C'maaan, you know what they meant.
I have that reaction when I see this game pop up as well, but it is clear they have enough players & make enough money to keep building on it. Companies simply don't support titles that don't generate money, so always assume it's doing better than you think it is lol.
The same could be said for NMS. You should consider giving them the same leeway :-)
@LordoftheCritics
You say this & Spiderman felt "old in design", but I've seen you praising CP2077. I can't quite compute that one.
I've played CP2077 & I mean, that game is fine, but it isn't revolutionary. It is not terribly unique in mechanics or mission design, following very strongly in the footsteps of every open world game that game before it. Which, I would suspect, we could agree could be said to be following &qu...
But what about if that golden musket is...an NFT!?! :-p
It's very clear when looking towards the retro market & the insane cost inflation over the last couple of years.
It is why I've kept my "new" game purchases to a minimum, and started pivoting towards more retro purchases. Retro games will do nothing but get more expensive, and newer games - for a while - will slowly get cheaper. Given the recent retro inflation, I wouldn't be surprised to see prices potentially further double in the next two or thr...
Yeah, focusing on MP & trying to include single player rarely works out well. Sea of Thieves is a terrible solo experience, Amazon tried adding traditional non-PVP stuff to New World which, again, didn't really do much for those wanting solo play, etc.
We always knew this was going to have a strong multiplayer focus, but back in 2017 they did at least say it would have some kind of more traditional narrative campaign as well. This news tells me whatever they have fo...
I don't feel like that Gran Turismo SoP was much like a Nintendo Direct. I mean, when you have a setup where you talk about a game and then show a game, how different are you looking for them to be? Would you prefer they showcased games using the language of interpretive dance? This feels like the argument about how everything looks like an iPhone because "rectangle with glass" lol.
Also, "the State of Play that took place just seven days earlier was over...
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante?
Yeah, I think people really underestimate the whole "small time dev, shoots into spotlight to the point of going on to Late Night TV talk shows for interviews", and the fact he was doing PR as someone also actively developing the game.
He was probably routinely working on things he thought would get in but didn't. Or would be asked in the moment, want to please the interviewer, doing on the fly calculation for what he thought were feasible adds. I'm not sa...
If what Sean/HG has done after literally 5 years at this point hasn't helped to redeem themselves in your eyes, I guess nothing will. I hope you never make a mistake. Or rather, I guess I hope your family or friends never make a mistake with you since even a 5 year long mea culpa appears to not be enough lol.
PSP also had a similar ad-hoc sharing option for certain titles called "Game Sharing", and Nintendo had something similar on the DS called "DS Download Play".
Always neat when companies can find it in their hearts to allow for fun little things like that, that don't require pinching literally every possible penny out of their customers lol.
Neeeevermind, misread 2023 as 2022.
I was initially musing about either how realistic S&B launching in 2 months was given we still hadn't seen anything, or if it did how good it could possibly be. Well, another 12 months on top helps with that lol.
@HardKnock
That list seems to pretty much prove out "equal or better in more games than not", if nothing else.
29 games total.
--3 split, with each having 1 advantage.
--8 listed as "no significant difference"
--10 with overall PS5 advantage
--8 with overall Xbox advantage
So Xbox has 8+8+3 = 19 titles where it is either the same, equal to, or better than PS5
PS5 has 10+3...
I think phrasing it this way is looking at the situation wrong. You can say iFixit's is better, sure. But I think framing the Valve teardown being put to shame by it is uncharitable framing. The fact Valve released one at all should be lauded. There are not too many companies that do that, much less also clue you in to what parts they plan to make available for aftermarket sale so individuals can upgrade or repair themselves.
I'm not surprised in the slightest that ...
I'd love if they'd try their hand at interweaving their talent for stories with some traditional gameplay.
