They've made over $110 million from the last 2 years of PC releases, and expect to make $300 million by the end of this fiscal year (ending March 2023). They also expect PC and mobile to account for half their revenue in just over 3 years time, so I don't think a small blip from low Sackboy numbers are going to tip the scales enough to get them to abandon PC.
No chance. They expect to make $300 million from PC sales for this fiscal year (ends March 2023). Made $80 million and $35 million the years prior. That's not chump change enough for them to not release on PC for the modest amount it costs them to port them over.
Sony also apparently expect PC and Mobile to account for half its revenue by 2026, so PC is definitely here to stay.
I think the issue is twofold.
-Sackboy was never a game that others were clamoring for, and this isn't even one of the core games.
-It's $60
-Tons of cheaper indie options in the 3D platformer genre on PC.
It had barely any marketing, and it isn't a big enough game on its own to get big word of mouth advertising like the other games that came before it. I think it would've done better launching at $40 max. It'll fin...
I mean, I think the dead giveaway that it isn't good is right in the title: proven very unpopular.
If you mean for the top PS titles in that list, speaking to concurrent players, things like God of War at 70,000+ concurrent players is pretty decent. These are not total sales, mind you, just highest number of people playing that game at the same time. For sales context, Horizon: ZD has sold 2.5 million+ copies on PC (about 56,000 concurrent players at peak).

I find it interesting that you talk about the game as if people and critics alike were crowing about the game, singing its praises & talking as if it was a can't miss experience or something. I literally almost forgot this game existed, and I own a copy of it lol. No one hardly ever talks about it online, certainly not in any fashion that oversells it for something it isn't.
I feel like Sackboy was a poor fit for this game. Almost as if it was skinned on to ano...
It's crazy, isn't it? That the world is full of grey, and not just black and white? Many things can be true at once.
In this case, you can stand with AND believe the voice actress, and believe that she was wronged. But you can also not agree with the person or their views on separate matters. If she's anti-abortion, that's her right, of course. It is now a completely separate matter from the voice acting matter, and one she opted to bring into the conversati...
I look at the up and down arrows as fluid. Perhaps one time they are "fact" or "fiction" typed buttons, other times I see them as "agree" or "disagree".
If I'm writing that I'm having a great time with a game, but get more down than upvotes, I'm taking that to mean that most people who have read the comments aren't having a good time with that game. Not that it is any kind of rating of the truth or validity of my comm...

GTAO, a 9 year old game, is given top billing in that update, with multiple paragraphs dedicated to all the varied content coming to the game. 100% alive and well.
RDO, a 4 year old game, gets a couple paragraphs basically saying "keep expectations in check". They are not...
Let's be honest, every single Bethesda game launched on every platform they could possibly support when they were their own company. Perhaps timed exclusivity, but would ultimately end up everywhere that was capable enough to support it. If MS never came into the picture, there's zero doubt in anyone's mind that those games would go to all platforms.
Now, under MS, they are no longer coming to one specific platform. I mean, I don't entirely know how anyone c...
I did buy Legend of Dragoon several months ago, and no announcement yet, so hopefully the cosmic message was just delayed and we get confirmation soon.
I've had my eye on Vagrant Story, watching a bunch of listings, so I'll try to find a good listing to grab a copy, see if we can't get something going for that sooner than later.
Azure Dreams I was looking at, but not intensely. Don't even have that as a saved search on eBay at the moment. ...
TLDR version:
"But CDPR did not give up. Instead of cutting their losses and moving on to something new, they vowed to do right by their fans and turn Cyberpunk 2077 into the game it was always supposed to be."
That small sentence felt so disingenuous, and I had to think about why it left such a bad taste after reading it. Came down to two things: it'll never be the game it was supposed to be, and I don't think CDPR *the company* did any...
I think "redemption" is too strong as well. Still missing SO MUCH that was promised in those Night City Wire videos, so I even think saying they are now where they should have been at Day 1 is still too charitable.
They've certainly had a sales redemption, but not a true redemption. Not a "character" redemption, so to speak.
The net loss is you mentioned after it launched was, of course, unavoidable. It's always going to be be...
Any other classics people would like remade/remastered? It seems for a fair number of the retro games I buy that some kind of release for modern formats is announced not long after. It's beautifully frustrating!
I'm always happy that more people have easier access to play these games, but I wish they'd time them better for the sake of my wallet lol. Generally, these games take a hit in price after rereleases are announced & released due to increased ease of ...
I don't really understand the issue. It doesn't exactly matter what anyone of them is, they could be faceless, colorless, non-human blobs for all it matters mechanically. It's just diversifying a roster. Most people don't like it when a character's orientation is front and center, which makes sense. Most people's aren't day to day either, and forcing it to show through normally makes people seem cartoonish. This is very much a side note.
But it w...

They aren't concerned with Sony's CoD revenue. In their filing, they actually are looking further into the future: PS6 and XB2 (whatever they call it). CoD having 6ish years on PS is just long enough for it to run out near the tail end of the generation, and then people will know "next gen, if you want to play CoD with your console friends, you can only buy an XBOX".
It's all about how incredibly lopsided it could make it when people have fresh decisio...
Someone got paid to make a bad decision, and then someone else got paid to write this article that has "I forgot my assignment is due tomorrow, and I've got 10 mins before class starts" vibes to it. That might be the weakest article on a topic like this, direct from the company, that I've ever seen.
It may be the hottest, but not by much. As of right now, 3 of the 4 hottest plaques are of Scorn; one is this, the other 2 are a 7/10 and a 10/10. Let's not pretend that the platform is the primary reason, though. Stinky scores for any game - especially exclusives - inevitably catch a lot of heat, primarily due to chest thumping or playing defense. We're sadly a society that magnetizes most strongly around extremes.
Let me just keep using Origin. This janky new app takes me out of invisible randomly, and doesn't appear to support launch parameters for games. Don't force me to move to this new jank, the old one works fine.
Ehhh, I don't think unpopular *has* to mean people know about it and have negative feelings towards it. If you were unpopular in high school, it doesn't necessarily mean you were actively disliked, just that you weren't one of the popular kids. Unpopular can just mean "not popular", which I think could be used in the same breath as "uninterested or unknown".
With 600 peak concurrent players, compared to their other releases with minimums of l...
