It's not about this generation, it's about the next. The old deal MS put out was almost transparent in that fact, given it would have ran out just before or around the time a new generation of consoles would be coming out. Just long enough to let people know "if you want CoD next gen, you'll have to go Xbox".
There are TONS of consoles sold to people who don't go on gaming forum sites like this. We may give them more than average money per user, bu...
I'm not generally so cynical, but The Game Awards has never really seemed particularly legit. Most award ceremonies like this, for any media, tend to be popularity contests than anything else.
This never even seemed like a popularity contest, primarily felt more like a marketing stunt. So I wouldn't put too much stock about what is or isn't included in the list. Even the community stuff, as I recall, has predetermined lists of games to vote for, so the value of ...
I guarantee this is one of those things where it was more "due diligence" than anything else. Given all the previous hype & discussion around NFT applications in gaming - some from consumers, though mainly from shareholders & higher ups - they couldn't sit on their hands until it was too late, or not have anything to show shareholders who need placating.
To be fair, I've heard a handful of interesting potential uses for NFTs in gaming (all non-mone...
Fair point to the fact it isn't a Nintendo title specifically, so I shouldn't have included that parenthetical. That's all people seemed to glom on to here lol. It's still a valid choice given it is a new release, so if you want it now that does make sense for saving money given it hasn't had a chance to be cheaper either in the recent past, or on another site. There are plenty of other titles where that isn't the case.
I was just talking about what the pricing was like right now. Obviously you can wait, should you wish, but if you want it right now, it is a viable title in the list which you know goes towards a good deal. A lot of other titles, this isn't true for.
Decent selection, but just be wary of higher pricing on older titles. New titles like M+R:SoH is a safe choice, knowing it wouldn't have enough time to have been cheaper in the past (plus Nintendo having notoriously tame sales).
But there are plenty of titles I've seen in these collections where they took a game that has been on perpetual sale & bumped its price back up to MSRP for inclusion in these sales, which ends up making the overall deal roughly the same ...
I have a Steam Deck, and what you say is true, but I also think you kind of outlined why it wouldn't really work for Sony: existing PS4 libraries.
There would be a ton of people who would just want to play their existing libraries, but not likely buy any - or few - new games for it. That would mean they couldn't price it low with subsidization, so it would be an expensive device. I can't imagine too many people (mass market wise) willing to spend PS5 money for a...
If you like the kind of games Arkane tends to put out, it's not a bad option. It is, IMO, not as good an overall game as Dishonored or Prey, but it is pretty fun. The largest downside I found to the game was that there just weren't enough maps, so it got samey pretty quick.
The loop mechanic doesn't feel particularly well implemented, since you're always going back to a map selection screen after retreating to your bunker. It doesn't really feel like a t...
It's primary value truly is in games that don't support any kind of controller input. You can do a decent job of grafting something usable for games with only direct mouse input, like strategy games and the like, thanks to the touchpads.
Outside that? The customization is really quite excellent, but it is almost impossible to use in place of a traditional controller in a lot of circumstances. It's a nice niche option to have, but I was certainly never able to ha...
So the AyaNeo does have the OLED, which is nice, but insofar as I've seen, it pretty much doesn't beat the Steam Deck in anything else. Seems to cost more and trail behind in most metrics. Is this now outdated?

I know people around here frown on mobile games - sensibly, in most cases, as they tend to be MTX filled trash - but of course, like anything, there are exceptions. Wanted to add that I just looked at what they've been offering, & it does appear that the games have gotten actually pretty solid recently.
They've got a bunch of ports of great indies (like Moonlighter, Into the Breach, Spiritfarer), alongside games like Desta, which is made by the Monument Valley d...
This thing isn't even ready for beta! Google, know your audience!
Given who is most likely to download a PC BETA FOR MOBILE, there's effectively no good games available. Nigh on everything is the most insipid, MTX laden trash available on the store. Not only can you not just go to your library of owned games & download from there, you can't even SEARCH for games; just look through a meager list of currently supported games. And Yikes.
Hope...
I think it's a bit uncharitable to call it stupid, but it does come off as...perplexing for a gaming dedicated site to say some of the things said in the article.
That the value of gaming subscription services "hadn't occurred to them" seems kinda nuts. I think I get the arcade thought process - just that a bunch of cheap games on top of not having to delete them makes it so you have more options immediately at the press of a button - but arcade is definit...
It is kinda funny official options haven't existed til now for PC, but BlueStacks was in alpha in 2011 and exited beta in 2014. Hopefully all Google's Chromebook experience means their PC solution for Google Play will be in good shape out the gate. I can't see myself using it a ton, but I'd far prefer a simpler option from Google than the current iteration of BlueStacks.
I assume he was just saying it's the basics of "subverting expectations". Big, brooding, emotional, violent game gets a cheery, lighthearted song that wouldn't be out of place in a children's TV show.
I think they're essentially going to try to launch this twice. So I don't necessarily think this quiet launch has anything to do with the ActiBlizz nonsense, but perhaps more with reading the room, so to speak?
Still struggling to get enough PS5s out to meet demand. Rising console prices. Rising costs across the board, with even FB...I mean, Meta....a VR focused company that was basically selling Quest at cost had to raise prices $100 a unit. Probably also costing S...
Not trolling, just genuinely curious, what you mean by this comment? I feel like a few words are missing, or perhaps an autocorrect skewed the initial sentence, but I feel like I'm missing something.

Clearly also more than that, given titles like Horzion:CotM, etc. But as a pretty big fan of VR (own OG Rift, Quest 2, PSVR), and seeing value in the hardware even at its price given its specs, the initial showing of games on offer is just not there right...

No, $115 mil was from 2020 and 2021. There isn't a figure for 2022 yet, so not all those games are included (given how their fiscal years break down).
They expect $300 mil from this year, which would include both Spider Man games and GoW Ragnarok, I believe (again, down to their fiscal EoY timeframe). But still, moving the games to PC hasn't cost them too much compared to the return, hasn't negatively affected sales on their consoles...
Yeah, they kinda roped me in and got my expectations up with how they started out. BotW, Odyssey, and handing Mario over to an external dev to make Mario XCOM. It felt exciting. Felt like Nintendo were going big, branching out of their comfort zone, trying to innovate again....
But, for my tastes, it hasn't gotten even close since. They pretty much went right back to making regular old Nintendo games, supplemented heavily by ports that - as a Wii U owner - held no inter...
