Game looks great in 60fps. The face change of Peter will probably be controversial though.

I wouldn't call it a problem, but the reason is very simple: Trade-offs.

If they prioritize native 4k (which they easily could by the way), they'll have to either accept a lower frame rate or reduce the visual fidelity. As a developer, you have to decide how to allocate the available resources. I applaud every developer that sacrifices native 4k for a better performing and visually more impressive game. Approaching 4k, resolution is by far the least effective way to...

What exactly do you disagree with in my report. A 1000GB drive can physically not have more available space than ~930GiB. Therefore the claim that the OS on the Series X takes up 198GB is factually incorrect. The same goes for the claim that The PS4 OS had a footprint of 93GB.

The extrapolation for the PS5 drive is even worse. They take this "93GB" figure and subtract it from the nominal 825GB of the PS5 to project 732GB of usable space for the PS5, when in realit...

Quick resume uses a cache on the SSD to save your session. You still need to load the data from the SSD back into RAM when you want to continue playing so "0 loading" is technically incorrect.

Bootup screens and developer captions will not be necessary anyway. And like I said Sony/MS could implement a system-level feature that lets you load a savegame or join a multiplayer lobby right from the home screen. The only requirement would be that developers design the g...

Loading screens will definitely be gone for the most part. The I/O architecture requires the data to be packaged a certain way to work optimally. Obviously games that were designed around HDDs, weak CPUs and no dedicated hardware decompression won't make efficient use of that architecture.

I'm not sure it's worth losing the SSD space for to be honest. Next gen games will be able to take full advantage of the available bandwidth and throw you into the game in no time anyway. Speed of access is obviously a high priority, so we might see a lot of options that allow the player to load into the last savegame, or join a multiplayer lobby right from the console's homescreen.

Personally, I'm excited about the elimination of loading screens, but I'...

Definitely. They look around 2-3x the size of the DS4 rumble motors from these pics.

@KRUSSIDULL: Cool. You're set then. I think you'll have a much better time with that SSD compared to an HDD, especially when 100 GB+ will probably become the norm very soon.

Could you provide a source please?

The spec-sheet on the official Xbox site lists:
3x USB 3.1 Gen 1 (which is 5Gbit/s).
source: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/...

The spec-sheet on the official Playstation blogpost lists:
1x USB Type-A (Hi-Speed USB), 1x USB Type-A (Super-Speed USB 10Gbps), x2 USB Type-C (Super-Speed USB 10Gbps) <...

My intention is to inform people about their options in case they don't want to spend so much money on proprietary storage solutions for the Xbox or expensive PCIe 4.0 drives in the case of the PS5. I take no responsibility for your interpretation of my comment. If there is anything factually wrong with it, point me to the mistake and I admit the error.

The music industry wasn't taken over by digital downloads, but by streaming sevices. For direct purchases physical media still tops digital downloads worldwide. Even in the US physical CDs and digital downloads are very close in revenue.

As for the digital consoles, you only get to save some money upfront. If saving money is a priority the disc-based consoles do a better job at it in the long run. You have access to a larger pool of discounted games. You also have the o...

Trying what? Trying to give people an overview on what their storage options are?

2085d ago 5 agree5 disagreeView comment

Essentially it's PCIe 3.0 grade storage at PCIe 4.0 prices and because it's proprietary, those prices might not change much for the rest of the generation.

There are cheaper options if you don't mind swapping games back and forth from an external drive. An external HDD will be the cheapest option by far. You can easily get a 2TB HDD for $60 or 60€. It will take a long time to swap games from an HDD though. Copying a 100GB game will take anywhere from ~7-15 minut...

Same here. We know that it's a From Software title and that it's directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, which for me is enough to list it as one of my most anticipated games. I'm definitely ready for some gameplay though.

I want Spider-Man Miles Morales anyway, but they should at least offer an option for people that want to buy the remaster separately. I think that 20-30 bucks for the definitive edition with all the dlc included, would be a good deal, but having it behind the Ultimate edition paywall doesn't make sense to me.

Sony should continue to invest into the growth of the studios they already own and from time to time make a reasonable acquisition of a studio that they've been working with for many years. That's how they've done it for a long time. There is no reason for a kneejerk reaction and quite frankly it could end up being counterproductive.

Let's not forget that Microsoft is not the only corporation that can make these kinds of deals. If those acquisitions spiral o...

"I realise that some said it would be a "game by game" basis, but that's just corporate talk for "we don't know right now, so we wont say one way or another"

If they don't know right now, how can you say the exclusivity of future titles is crystal clear? Obviously they won't commit to a decision as long as the relevant variables are undetermined. Release platforms will depend on market share of said platforms, game budgets and other ...

Sony certainly could've prevented some of the backlash, by being more transparent about cross-gen games from the get-go. My main issue however is not the botched communication, but the fact that Horizon is one of the cross-gen titles. Even if they were upfront about it being cross-gen, I'd still be equally disappointed.

Now we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I just hope that we have a complete list of cross-gen titles now and the rest of 1st part...

For me there are currently too many uncertainties with Xbox. Big acquisitions like these don't always work out ideally. Even if Microsoft properly manages the influx of studios, there isn't much to look forward to on the immediate horizon. The exclusivity question is also unclear at the moment, so I'd rather wait and see how it all turns out before deciding whether I need to get an Xbox.

PS5 on the other hand comes out with interesting games from the get-go. Dem...

That's one way to make some money, I guess. She'd have to go on a lot of vacations to get those $7.5bn back though.

But before this analology gets completely out of control, let me clarify that I fully understand there are contracts in place. I just think it's kinda funny that we'll see Microsoft first party studios release console exclusive games on PS5 that's all.
