@zeeb: Trying to give the impression of 100% neutrality would be utterly nonsensical and it's certainly not what they are trying to do. It would mean that they wouldn't be allowed to come to any conclusions, positive or negative, unless they have the same amount of positivity or negativity on the other side as any opinion would instantly upset the neutral balance. I think you are confusing neutrality, fairness and objectivity.

What I care about is that their objecti...

@Zeeb: To be honest, I've already wasted enough time on this. It's pretty clear to me that you are cherrypicking examples and willfully misinterpret them in the most negative way possible, while completely ignoring all the positive things they have to say.

I see this stuff on twitter all the time. People misrepresent Digital Foundry to serve their console war agenda. It's quite amazing to see that the same snippet of a video can be spun to work for either camp. ...

Thanks for the links. I simply don't see what you're seeing. The last 10 minutes of their reaction are a mix of positive and negative. The stuff they do criticise are: No price reveal, not enough gameplay and the stream quality being 1080p/30fps, which are all perfectly legitimate criticisms. They also criticised the visual design, it's highly subjective and the design is polarizing (I personally love it). Digital Foundry consists of individuals after all and they have their subje...

@Zeeb: The PS5 analysis video was disappointingly shallow and Richard failed to point out some important factors like the DRAM cache on the SSD, the implications of Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 for VR and 10Gbit/s USB for external drives. I've criticised DF for their sloppiness on that video, but I didn't see any reason to suspect malintent. I'm not trying to defend everything they've ever done. The quality of their content certainly varies.

I'm not familiar...

@Zeeb: I didn't even give this part a second thought. It might've been a genuine brainfart. Personally I couldn't care less why he mispronounced the name and I certainly didn't take it as disrespectful. I think you are reading way too much into it. It seems like you've already convinced yourself that DF is paid off by Microsoft and Alex is just there to shit on Sony. If you're looking for any opportunity to get offended, you're guaranteed to find it.

Bloodborne never had anywhere near 5 minute load times.

You stopped the video because of that? Both John and Alex speak very highly of what Insomniac have achieved with Miles Morales throughout the rest of the video.

What are you talking about? In what world is a free update containing boss challenges, player recordings and unlockable skins exploitative? If they wanted to resell the game they would lock that content behind the Goty rerelease.

Interesting visual style. Kinda reminds me of David Cronenberg and Clive Barker. I see a lot of potential if the creatures get more threatening as you progress.

If the internal storage lasts you for a couple months, you might be able to save some money. I personally don't see much of a reason to rush out and buy an expansion drive before you need one.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to secure a PS5 for launch myself, so depending on the supply, I might not get a PS5 this year. I'm also planning to build a new gaming PC next year, so I'm thinking about using my current PCIe 3.0, 500GB m.2 as an external storage to offl...

Kojima likes to announce games early, so I wouldn't be surprised to get an announcement trailer soon. Can't wait to find out what it is.

Like Bladefist said maximum operating temperature is ~90°C on Zen 2 CPUs. Intel goes even higher. Those are core temperatures and as far as I've seen nobody even measured the SoC package temperature of the Xbox Series X. What I've seen so far are external case temperatures and exhaust temperatures which don't really tell us all that much to be honest.

Most PC players aren't either. If they wanted to, they could just make people download an app and display a warning before changing the fan profiles (that should put most people off). If the console overheats it shuts off before the hardware can take damage. In case of overheating it could simply reset to the default fanprofile.

Not that I think it should be necessary to offer such functionality. I think the PS5 will run reasonably quiet if it is kept clean.

Most of the threads of the 3950x were barely utilized and none of the games that were tested allocated more than ~12.5GB of system memory. Gaming at 8k is pretty much as GPU bound as you can get so you won't need a water cooled high-end CPU or 32GB of memory.

You should've told Sony and MS before they spend all that money into the implementation of backwards compatibility. It's not like people would ever replay a good game.

Also all those remasters that have released over the years never sold a single unit. The publishers didn't notice, but nobody ever plays games that aren't brand new...

It's not about the speed. Those social features aren't really for me. I just don't see a reason to watch my friends play a game while I'm playing a different game myself. To be honest I don't see much of a reason to watch my friends play a game period. I'm mostly playing in incognito mode, because I don't want people to send me messages and invites all the time.

I might check the gamehelp feature out when I'm stuck on some challenge map for a...

I probably won't ever use half the features they've shown. I like the separation of the games and media apps on the homescreen though. The integration of the PS Store into the UI also seems like a good change to me. It's hard to judge just by looking at it. Gotta try it out and see how it feels.

120 fps is a limited usecase for me. Competative multiplayer games would benefit from that option, but I don't see a reason to cut the render time so short for story driven single player games.

I agree. Dropping all the way down to 1080p is far from ideal on a large 4k TV. While upscaling works out pretty well, there is only so much detail you can display in a 2 Megapixel frame. Personally I prioritize 60fps > visual effects > native resolutions higher than 1440p. Especially when upsampling can be used to increase the final pixelcount by recovering temporal information.

With that being said, if Spider-Man Miles Morales had a 1080/60p mode with raytracing and...
