And conviction. The separate co-op campaign was perhaps even better than the single player campaign.

Oh, and Portal 2!

Pretty good writing. I usually don't have high expectations from "top" lists, but this one nailed it.

Although I think that at least in the first Gears the "mic" section were used at chokepoints to disguise loading the next section into memory. I recall Halo 3 used a similar mechanic with some caverns you have to go through, and so did Uncharted to in the tunnels you pass through of the train level.

Not to mention, Silitha from Darksiders and the Corpser from Gears of War (Although it's more like a hybrid). Well, at least they got the #1 spider from Limbo correct. This was the most unique spider encounter in any game I ever played.

How far did you get in the game? Did you meet Andrew Ryan yet? If not, would you kindly just go back and play it before you make judgement?

Perhaps Halo aged better, but it was a much better game to begin with. So was the first Riddick game (Butcher bay, remastered in a new engine as part of Dark Athena - it was actually better than the new game), and so has the first Half Life (as can be witnessed in the new Black Mesa release).

To age well you need a solid game to begin with. Guerrilla put much more effort into Killzone 2, and I believe it will fare better if it is also remastered sometime duri...

Actually, if you buy games directly on the service you can assign a credit card / paypal account and then charge the exact value in your own currency. You don't have to buy prepaid cards (not to mention that today Amazon offers online codes with anything from 400 points to 4000 points).

I don't understand why people don't like this system: a smart customer will take advantage of exchange rate differences, or buy points when they are offered on sale from different ...

Hey, Uncharted 4 is the never to be announced wild card, so this idiotic list which has you scrolling through 10 pages for hits won't look too familiar. It's required in every top exclusives list so that people will know how much sense it doesn't make.

Other than Uncharted 4, on almost every page I found myself saying "hey! I remember you! You were on on the top 10 PS3 exclusibes to look forward to in 2012! And you my friend - you're from 2011! Oh, and I...

The funny thing is, they already track us. I read the following in the patent application:
"In the prior art security systems for device such as personal computers have used biometric sensors such as fingerprint sensors as alternatives to entering a password. However, such security systems are not contingent on the identity of the user while the user is using the device. Instead, the user is only identified at when the user starts up the device. Once the device starts up, anyone ...

Bayonetta was a best seller for a new IP with around 2 mil copies. That's a lot more than Alpha protocol sales.

The thing is, Alpha Protocol is a *proper* RPG game, something that does not sit well with Nintendo's target audience (anyone recall the "RPGs are for Otakus"? ). Actually Bayonetta 2 itself is a bare pass for their audience and seems like a weird choice (Madworld didn't do as good on the Wii trying to target mature audience). It's probably...

Three few things to remember:
1) those slow change happened during the Bungie days all the time: the iconic pistol from Halo 1 was dropped alongside medpacks in Halo 2 for example.
2) Halo 3 was already a game were more than half the of the people working on it weren't initially in the original Halo CE team. With different people on board, the direction always shifts - Halo Reach is a world apart from the original game.
3) There is nothing disrespectful for Bungie:...

" Each time we see Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Platinum Games has a point to prove"
Platinum Games already proved all they need to prove with MadWorld, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Infinite Space and Anarchy Reign. With 5 new awesome IPs for various platforms, they are simply put the best Japanese studio this gen.

Correction:
Nintendo *IS* even upping their tech too much either. the wii u is technically current gen.

You have to remember that the Wii is practically a last gen console with an innovative controller. The WiiU is a significant hardware upgrade over the Wii which makes it on par with current gen hardware (with an innovative controller).

It's like Nintendo's strategy in the past 2 gens is to lag behind for a whole generation and then release ...

But those 70 million owners already have a PS3, so they have no use for buying the new revision. In that case the whole "redsign" thing has nothing to do with the implied strategy.

Are you opposing the Eurogamer expo the same way because the label implies that it's not for non-europeans although *everyone is welcomed*? Your logic doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

As a programmer you should have noticed I specifically wrote "CAN inevitably result in broken games". This does not imply all the games are broken. It's like saying that clouds CAN inevitably lead to rain. The fact that many good games exist does not make this a false statement, just like the fact that in some cloudy days it doesn't rain does not make the above a false statement.

As for your facts:
a) This knowledge is indeed true, b...

When a game is a "balant ripoff" with zombies and guns shoehorned in, it's not a ripoff anymore because the mechanics changed.
Do you consider Minecraft to be a dwarf fortress ripoff with 3d graphics shoehorned in? Do you find Uncharted a gears ripoff with platforming and cinematic actions shoehorned in?

I agree that the original CastleMiners was pretty much a ripoff, but the utilization of guns VS zombies in CMZ add enough to make t...

Indeed. Can't say if it's the piano black like finish, but this is the classiest design for any console I've seen to date.

It reminds me the most some of the well designed hi-end speaker manufacturers. It's like something coming from a Bang & Olufsen or Bose catalog!

Although I guess most of the million users who play Skyrim on the PS3 don't complain, this probably has to be said: broken architecture can inevitably result in broken games, especially if they games are ambitious multiplats which don't try to cater to the lowest common denominator.

I know I might be slaughtered by fanboys who will never blame the hardware manufacturer and always blame the software developers, so perhaps for once I will actually back this claim with s...
