I agree with mainly one game from that list: Final Fantasy XIII The Return of Lightning. I said it once, I'll say it again, "I regret buying Final Fantasy XIII." It is THE game that I regret purchasing from this generation. The sequel may have been slightly better, but its scenario was incredibly forced.
It was just a way for Square Enix to "fix the problems" that fans had with the first game. And now there's going to be a third installment that no...
@coolbeans Yeah, I agree with that. The other companies listed have done a lot of shady things. Facebook sharing personal information and profiles of its users, Bank of America systematically ruining people's lives with their policies, and Comcast with their supposed "deals" for quality television. But I still think that EA even being put on this list and winning this title will be a good thing for the industry.
In the long run, developers and publishers will lo...
A buddy of mine got SimCity. Want to know something funny? Even though they never mentioned that you have to be online leading up to the release date, it says so on the front cover at the bottom. I find that a little humorous considering it's like there's that floating message in the back of a buyer's mind saying, "This is your last chance to back out now!"
For me, EA has earned the Worst Company in America title again. Everything from their shady DLC to...
Damn, Marcus came back with a fury and pulled no punches.
After reviewing both games and seeing how they were, I'm going to have say that Survival Instinct is the worst of the two. While Colonial Marines was a graphical and disappointing mess, Survival Instinct falls further with its many pointless aspects and ideas that fall short every time. Plus, even though both are lackluster first person shooters, gameplay mechanics in Survival Instinct make it a chore to play through. You can just run through a whole level in Colonial Marines to get to th...
I know rumors and speculation can ultimately hurt, but I think I'll wait on seeing what Microsoft has to say before I offer an opinion. Granted, I totally agree with a lot of his points, though. The Kinect is a disaster, the online service fee is insulting, and Microsoft's current IP list is the smallest it has ever been. If any of the things I've been hearing about the next Xbox turn out to be true, then Microsoft's future in the industry will be at best questionable and at w...
Well, I'm not the least bit surprised. Besides, I doubt anyone would have bought it given the reviews it had from the other ports.
Ah, I actually meant to put that I despise only carrying two firearms, not carrying more than two, lol. Going to fix that now.
That mechanic feels restrictive to me and also in the sense that a person is capable of carrying more than two weapons. Looking at Mass Effect, the assault rifle and sniper rifle are connected on the back, the pistol to the side of the hip, and the shotgun just below the assault rifle and sniper rifle.
It does drive me bonkers at how ...
Sad, but true for many of these titles.
What a crap article. The author even goes so far as to call his list satire. I'm going to say that just like Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, this guy wouldn't know satire if he sat through a whole marathon of Mel Brooks films. Story quality is a definite WTF for me.
What a load of video game "journalistic" crap. Every time a game does well financially and critically, there's always some over-opinionated gamer out there who wants to rain on everyone's good time with a thirty minute spun article like this. Extremely simplistic reasons for calling a game overrated and all for the sake of generating hits.
The author further tries to defend himself by making himself seem different from other writers by basically saying, &quo...
A good question that is difficult to answer without having a slew of multiple choices. It is impossible for someone to choose just one game that is THE game of the generation. There are many great games that came out. Even then, we still need to go through the games that are due this year (The Last of Us, Watch Dogs, Remember Me, etc).
For me, it would have to be games that either blew me away or were just a bundle of fun. It's too hard to choose one. It's like asking...
Great read. I agree that multiplayer isn't needed for every game. There are times when it is blatant that it's tacked on, but other times when it's there just for the sake of it. Thankfully, many people have realized how costly adding the feature can be. In effect, it makes it that much harder to break even and earn a profit from what you spent to make it. There are quite a few good multiplayer games, but seeing that developers and publishers are finally understanding that it just...
We always have to have that one guy who ruins everything for everyone. You know, the guy who talks during the movie. The guy who backseat games. The guy who sings obnoxiously to bad songs. The guy who over expresses his distaste for some food at a restaurant. Yeah, that's what this guy is.
Like it or not, there are many common ideas floating around when it comes to fiction. There will always be similar ideas and themes. The only way to truly make your story unique is by t...
It's like I always say: There's an audience for everything...unfortunately. In the case of publishers trying to turn their games into these COD inspired action fests, I totally agree.
"The first reason is that you inevitably piss off your core fanbase by doing so. In the months building up to the release of both Resident Evil 6 and Dead Space 3, internet comment threads and forums were packed full of disgruntled enthusiasts of these series, raging at changes they...
While it is true that PC gamers that expect too much for a day one launch title, the same could be easily said for publishers and developers who expect that gamers would put up and shut up with potential problems. Sim City had a terrible week, but an even more frustrating span of lack of accessibility, server problems, disappearing cities, and lack of support. To even defend EA and their practices is asinine. They are up for Worst Company in America again.
"Being in Chin...
This game was really good. It's such a shame that this (and I agree with the word used) gem of a game didn't meet with the success it deserves.
Freaking A right. Infamous is hands down one of the best Sony franchises around.
Well said, indeed, Mikeyy. I agree with you completely. I have (at best) the semi-suggested requirements to run the games I have on my PC. I don't have the funds nor the time to go out and make my rig the all powerful gaming messiah that so many PC elitists claim to be the best option for gaming. I'm happy with what I have for my PC.
One would think that being happy with what you have would be enough to suffice a good gaming experience and not how much you paid to mak...
Thanks, Chaostar. I actually have an article already with my impressions of the PS4 announcement, so I didn't want to repeat myself from before. My original draft had thirty-five paragraphs, so I had to cut a couple of topics out of the equation (PS4 conference being one before I decided to cut it completely). Four topics per month seemed to work in my favor in the long run, though.
Now, March is going to be big, so that's why I wanted it to be on part 2. I already ha...
