Speaking as someone who does reviews on N4G, I think that reviews should hold some merit, but on two fronts. The first front is that of the reviewer. A reviewer should always be as honest as they can. Even if the game they were waiting for turns out to be a buggy/unplayable mess, then the harsh truth needs to be heard.

Spec Ops is better than any modern military first person shooter we have had in the past four years. This writer is missing the point completely and taking things out of context with the game. Yeah, it really is linear. It sucks so much because I was really hyped for this game. Good thing I paid attention to the review scores before hand. After renting it and playing it for myself, well, it's really bad (graphics, characters, AI, etc). I gave it a four out of ten on here. Gearbox really screwed up big time.
