Thanks, thorstein! I think you're right in that if it's so easy to turn off DRM, then what's stopping them from bringing it back? That's why I am very skeptical with their recent changes. Makes me wonder what sort of tweaks to thrown out and still existing policies they may add.
Thanks, Kratoscar. To be honest, when I was writing this, I was wondering what would happen should he see this. I mean, I did pretty much address him directly a few times. Glad you enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, that happens a lot in any given industry. Jonathan Blow being another since he only had Braid (which was five years ago) and has since been criticizing the industry. A person gets one hit and then they think that their opinions can mean life and death with whatever they are talking about. For Cliff, he had Unreal Tournament and Gears of War be the biggest franchises, but I think his ego has grown quite a bit after he left Epic Games.
@dedicated - There is just something about reading Cliffy's quotes post-Gears of War 3 that just makes me shake my head. He practically opened the challenge in his last post, so I figured why not and let him have it? I think we have a good number of people on N4G who have unique and thoughtful articles on recent events. You, yourself, had that blog that I referenced to (which was great by the way).
@coolbeans - True. The whole "this is a business" reason is dism...
Here's the thing, people attacked the artist of the fighters for the bombastic way he drew the sorceress. Is it stupid that she is that big and fighting against other characters with power? Well, yeah, but at least they aren't making it a selling point (something that pisses me off when companies sell sex to gamers). It's exploitation at best. There's a clear difference. Also, busty women exist in real life, people.
November 13th?! For my birthday? Sony, you shouldn't have! I already have Watch Dogs, South Park, and Thor releasing that month! Good grief, I'm going to be broke in November... Just need some new Nintendo games for the Wii U to round it out for me.
Cliffy B and all of you saying that this is bad thing for the industry should turn in your gamer cards right now. It's a joke that so many people see the numerous restrictions and gimmicks Microsoft tacked onto the Xbox One as a good thing. It is far from being that.
"More studios WILL close and you’ll see more PC and mobile games."
Says the same guy who supports limiting a gamer's right of ownership and questionable business tactics like DR...
"Mandatory Kinect is only a problem if you make it one."
The Kinect is a problem in and of itself. The fact that Microsoft boasted it as a revolution in gaming shows that they are blind to its shortcomings. In reality Kinect was a gimmick that failed to innovate anything because of how poor its motion detection is. Also, it being a forced feature for Xbox One just bumps up the price and adds a pointless peripheral that has practically no consumer demand.
Excellent blog, DragonKnight. As soon as I heard that Microsoft was back peddling from this always online, no used games policies that people hated, I shook my head and only replied, "Of course they are". Telling us that everything the Xbox One is offering and all of the features it has is the future of gaming only shows that they are really out of touch with the video game community.
I will still not buy an Xbox One. The games are not even a proper excuse both befo...
"No matter how strongly we rail against the Xbox One, how much we all focus on the negatives instead of embracing the positives, the Xbox One will sell and it will be successful. After all, it’s got Halo. It’s got Titanfall. It’s got all your Xbox Live friends. And it’s got your Gamerscore. Eventually, it will have you."
Ha, no. Xbox One certainly won't be in my household. The only things connected to my television in my living room are my PS3, Wii U, DVD player...
Ugh. Reading the description of this seventeen-year-old drug addict just made me cringe. I mean, this little idiot has potentially damaged the next generation of consoles and games with his apparent acquisition of vital properties.
It's because of turds of life like this hacker that publishers want to go digital and enforce DRM. Yet, we have multiple people who would call this kid a genius for what he has done for the mere fact that they can hack and mod games and systems...
"Games are not scored until a review is written and finalized. Once a review is complete, the reviewer meets with a group of senior editors to determine which score on our scale properly reflects the text as written. We do not write with scores in mind."
Wow. That is how they go about scoring a game? That is just asinine. So, basically, we have one person in the room who reads their review to a bunch of senior editors (who have not played the game) and they all deci...
Hope these links help. All contain exclusive and multiplatform games.

Looks really cool! I hope they show more.
All-in-one is a complete gimmick. The way Microsoft made it out to be at the conference is that we are all incompetent idiots who don't know how to handle all of the electronics in our living rooms much less work a television. "Oh, but voice commands will make things much easier in the living room", says Microsoft. Reality check: being able to use a remote and memorize channel numbers isn't difficult.
If my gaming console (notice the key word, gaming) has so...
Wow! Unprofessional much? I mean, you don't want to go and piss off your fanbase and potential customers. I don't care if you worked on Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry. You don't go and insult people like that, especially on Twitter of all places. Have video game personnel learned nothing from posting things on Twitter? Here's a hint: it tends to get you into trouble.
The problem with lists like these is that they are pretty much geared to generating hits rather than making thorough points. Every time I have seen these types of lists, they make little sense, condemn people for praising the games listed, and the authors end up contradicting themselves. Whenever I see "Top 10 Franchises That Must Die" or "Top 5 Overrated Games", I always translate that as "My Top Numbered List Sure to Get Hits".
Always bugs me w...
"How, in one breath, can we as gamers say that video games are not the cause of, nor have a direct causal link to, violence and yet come up with the B.S. that gaming promotes sexism, misogyny, and anything that is basically anti-woman?"
That is very true. It's like, how are we supposed to defend our hobby from these many attackers when they throw curve balls at us from every direction? Video games get blamed for violence, for misogyny, and for causing illness (a...
Ha! I love these memes and videos. That was hilarious!
And how! This was surprising to say the least. I mean, a news correspondent on FOX using actual statistics with reinforced knowledge to debate and defend pop culture and doing so very well was the last thing I ever thought would happen. John Stossel hit the nail on the head.
