Erm, remind me why I should ignore this fact...
It has only been the Wii U (this gen) which has kept my jaded view of the industry not from hitting an all time low, as it is normally the case with most Nintendo consoles/handhelds...without Nintendo the outlook would become very, very bleak.
Wake my when Sony (I own a PS4, as I did a 3, 2 and 1) releases anything for the PS4 which justifies the price tag/purchase, and NOT just a re-released of an albeit wonder...
That will be difficult. I'm off all day tomorrow (today now) and Wednesday, I have little else on so when it (Watch Dogs) arrives in the mail this morning - as expected - I will be like a kid at Christmas...albeit a very dubious one. Should my worst fears be realised - not that the game is terrible but something a lot, lot worse, its average, I'll trade it in next week for a credit voucher.
Watch Dogs (PS4) due tomorrow, once Mario Kart 8 arrives 2 days later...forget about it! Watch Dogs will in all likelihood disappoint me and leave me jaded (sadly) - I want so much for it to defy expectations, a first party Nintendo game from 1 of its key franchisees is as close to a sure thing as you can get in this industry.
Tomorrow I will be able to pass my own verdict...sadly I'm almost certain (based on previews) to be underwhelmed. Still, with Mario Kart 8 due 2 days later the disappointed wont linger.
All we be revealed (for me) tomorrow should my pre-order arrive as intended. Problem, Mario Kart 8 is due 2 days later, so if Watch Dogs falls short of spectacular I cant see myself picking it up again post Friday aka Mario Kart 8 day.
Agreed. Take away the 'fan boy' nature of this industry and it is Nintendo which are doing most things right, I bought a PS4 after being pleased with my PS3 but so far things have been dire, on a games and OS point of view. Its the Wii U which is the most focused of the main 3, both Xbox One and PS4 are suffering a crisis of identity at present.
Surprise? Watch Dogs - while I'm not defending it, in fact (although I have it pre-ordered) I am very doubtful of its quality based on previews - is a mass multi-platform game, Second Son is exclusive to 1 console...exclusives almost always set the benchmark for 'graphics'.
Pardon me but I'm a 'noob', is a bubble a good or bad thing?
Mario Kart 8 is as close to a sure thing as you can get in this propaganda driven industry, do yourself (and the future of videogames) a favour, buy it.
Agreed. Not read the list myself - as of yet - but I hope to see Skyward Sword scoring a place in the top 10 at least. Easily (for me) worth the creation of the Wii and Motion Plus alone, a true innovation and another epic quest in the Zelda canon.
I agreed to a point - also like yourself I have the game pre-ordered, but "we'll just enjoy the game anyway"!? speak for yourself. I will enjoy the game if it is well made and interesting, I will NOT pretend to enjoy it if my worst fears are realised, that the review embargo being held until release date and the massive delay equal no smoke without fire.
You would bloody hope so! Yes, this may not be the most original game the world has ever seen or even the best in its respective series - though reviews suggest it may well be, it is however another Nintendo first party title lavished with polish, flair, care and attention to detail. In the cold light of day this is a game which deserves as much if not much, much more attention than another throwaway indie game or the latest 'blockbuster' set-piece driven charade.
I was talking purely aesthetics, not the game being quirky, although if you want to go there, many, many games have previously done quirky to death. Also, Ive just seen the price of admission...£15! I'm sorry, you could pick up (second hand admittedly) a far more worthy retail game which probably has passed you by simply down to the fact its marketing didn't ram it down your neck.
I'm sorry, yes this looks the part (although not exactly original) and yes, judging by early reviews it plays good, but I don't know, something about 'indie' titles of late have the habit of being very throwaway. The price needs to be right on these games, more an impulse purchase rather than a considered purchase price tag.
So, so many 'golden' moments, practically impossible to pick just 1 - I have stuck and been playing Nintendo since the NES. If I had to pick just 1 I would probably go with booting up Mario 64 for the first time on my newly acquired N64. The true definition of a 'next gen' experience, not anything like the pretenders of today. Nobody who experienced said golden moments would ever question Nintendo's place in manufacturing consoles.
I have this game preordered for my PS4, trouble is - besides it sounding average at best, if early previews are accurate and correct, I also have Mario Kart 8 preordered and due 3 days later. Boy did Watch Dogs delay do it no favours.
Agreed. I also wouldn't feel comfortable telling people of my age (mid 30's) that I frequently enjoy Nintendo first party games - be it platforming or racing, I wouldn't however be more comfortable telling said people I own a PS4 and related games, video gaming itself is NOT 'mature'.
I have both Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8 pre-ordered, personally I know already which is a mild curiosity and which is destined to take president for months and months...hint,...
Say this is true - that the graphics look 'as good as the XBOX 360', so what? wasn't the 360 capable of producing splendid looking games...the answer is of course YES. My feeling however that if previews are to be believed - from people who have actually played Mario Kart 8 - then no way was/is the 360 capable of producing a game on par with said game.
Anyhow, squares, nerds and trolls, all you need to know is (where it matters) Mario Kart 8 is running at 1080p (u...
If all games look as good as SM3DW and Mario Kart 8 - I'll be happy for the next 4-5 years. Seriously, I have owned all major 'rival' consoles...don't believe the hype. Yes, games such as TLOU, Bioshock Infinite and Ni No Kuni showed Sony (for example) can produce wonderful looking games, yet jaggies, frame-rate issues and serious slowdown always seems to occur, patches are becoming the norm.
Nintendo never (in my experience) release games clearly unfinished, ...
Not necessarily true. Those games (GTA and SR) have character, a sense of identity and purpose, Watch Dogs (sadly, I pre-ordered it) has little to none of this. Its like saying if you liked Bulletstorm you will like Battlefield...yes, both the same genres, 2 entirely different experiences, 1 good 1 meh.
