Ive a horrible feeling this is going to be a Zelda to appease the self-proclaimed "hardcore", more Twilight Princess and less Skyward Sword...I hope to be proven dead wrong (again).
Super Mario Galaxy - "a let down"? Well, that is an interesting notion. Most people (who have actually owned and played it) believe it to be the no.1 game of last gen and arguably the best Mario games since their conception. Sunshine had an increased difficulty only because the camera was not nearly good enough, otherwise yet it was a good game - but NOT by Mario standards.
"the crappy wii controls and the weird walking around a sphere idea"...ah, spoken like a true troll. "crappy wii controls", WTF!? You mean having to lightly 'waggle' the Wii Remote in order to spin, or pointing the cursor at the screen so to collect star bits, both of which were implemented flawlessly, you mean that? As for the "weird walking around a sphere idea", I have no idea on how to reply to that...the execution (again) was flawless.
No, please. Sunshine was NOT a particularly high point in the Mario canon - if not awful, Galaxy 1 & 2 however really made up for it and got the 3D Mario series back on track in a big way.
Money and sales. The fact is (sadly) games such as this dont have appeal to the 'casuals', i.e those who buy every COD, Assassins Creed or GTA, ergo the money spent translating doesn't translate - no pun intended - into sales. Its like Shenmue. Sure people are telling us now how much they loved the original but its impossible THAT many people are telling you the truth, fact is the Dreamcast didnt sell in big numbers and Shenmue itself even less...I dont count myself in this exampl...
PR? I for 1 rushed out to buy a PS4 at launch - discarding my PS3 in the process, why...heaven knows. Thus far my PS4 has been little more than a paperweight. Thank heavens for my Wii U without which I would bee severely jaded.
Nintendo will 'win' this gen by - as always - sticking to its guns, same as previous gens. Not listening to the self-proclaimed "hardcore", those with no interest in innovation or change and just fixated with the next COD or GTA.
Mario Maker had me at exactly that, Mario Maker.
Okami has a sequel, Okamiden. Anybody who (like me) was genuinely interested and captured by its predecessor would both know and have played this. Great game, both of them.
Dont do it Miyamoto...the self-proclaimed "hardcore" fear change of any description, I'm surprised even the analogue stick was allowed to catch on.
Seriously, who ever doubted Nintendo couldn't turn it all around...noobs? Sure, the Wii U isnt head and shoulders above its 'competition' but (at present) its at least a level playing field, that after its slow start. Combine with with the successes of the 3DS and it looks for all intensive purposes Nintendo have a very strong hold over the current generation.
I'm not suggesting the Wii U or 3DS don't have their flaws - as does every machine, simply that w...
Could not have put it better. Playing any Zelda after Skyward Swords innovative control set-up feels archaic in comparison.
Considering this was supposed to be a launch title...or was that another white-lie by Sony as an excuse to make us all run out and buy Playstation 4's at launch? My guess is the latter. I bought a PS4 at launch but - as I see it - 2014 is a massive fail for Sony, the Wii U surely the star of the year (thus far) and due by what incoming.
Receiving Bayonetta 1 & 2 together for the same price of a single game, just as was with Mario Kart 8 and its FREE game promotion...Nintendo, you really are spoiling us.
In other words defeating the entire point of what made Skyward Sword so good...you cant have both. Either you have a game built with Motion Controls (Plus) at its core or you go back to more 'traditional' methods, personally I will feel a massive sense of disappointment should the latter happen.
Please let Nintendo stick with Wii Motion Plus (1:1) for this game, going back to more 'traditional' controls will feel for me a step backwards.
Zelda on PS3/4, something similar to Twilight Princess, arguably the worst Zelda (handheld or console) of the last 20 years. Leave Zelda in the inventive, skilled and hard working hands that resides within Nintendo HQ, only then will each instalment guarantee success.
Surely you mean Xbox One, also, what's with leaving out the Wii U?
I cant agree. I played The Last of Us and Portal 2 last gen, both fantastic games, truly, but to take anything away from SMG (1&2) is near sighted. Yes, it almost is impossible to compare a Mario 'platformer' with a more 'modern' 3rd person adventure, but for my money while SMG (1&2) are flawless - I really mean flawless, both The Last of Us and Portal 2 had elements which left me feeling a disconnect.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 (to me) are both a lo...
I would be highly surprised/dubious if anybody who played SMG didn't nominate it THEE game of last gen.
Fans had an OOT caliber Zelda, OOT 3DS. Skyward Sword was everything a Zelda game should be...innovative, something Twilight Princess was not - even though I did enjoy it. I dont want Zelda to become something akin to Uncharted or Halo (though good games), I want Zelda games to experiment, innovate and re-create, NOT simply re-visit or repeat.
