I stand by that comment. Sadly, if buying a PS4 at launch - buying into all the hype and propaganda - makes me said fool, a lot of other people fall into the same category. Be honest with yourself, up to this point, Sony's 'next gen' promise has been all bluff.
Sony really are kings of con. More fool me.
Actually no. The majority of reviews are pointing out the leaning towards 'arcade handling' slightly out of line with the more serious nature of the games frontend.
Really, really starting to regret my PS4 (day 1) purchase now, if I didn't already before. We get this much delayed racing game while the Wii U has Mario Kart 8 and the Xbox One For a Horizon 2? Also the constant shift from rewarding PS+ owners with this game to now leaving us with the sort of demo version...quite a move. Honestly, with all the great games due out before Christmas and backlogs, I doubt I'll even download DriveClub - 'free' or not.
Luckily for us Wii U owners throwing everything but the kitchen sink at a game doesn't always - if ever - translate into a BETTER game, even a good one. Bayonetta 2 (plus 1) and Smash Bros should fill the 'void' left by another 6 monthly/turning more frequently Assassins Creed.
SMG nailed it like no other game I played last gen, even if I did have some particular favourites. Please, if you did NOT own a Wii last gen keep your opinions to yourself, because you honestly can't claim to be a true fan of videogames.
This is exactly why I love\hate Nintendo, more love. Games you feel are held back - no matter how frustrating to the general public - until everything is just so. Sony or Microsoft may have pushed a seemingly basic game such as this to arrive before Christmas and hopefully make a few dollars more. With Nintendo however you feel its in safe hands and when it does arrive it will be everything (and more) it could be.
Bayonetta 2 (and 1) and Smash Bros should see me OK in the tim...
A masterpiece and easily one of if not the best game of all time. Yes, Super Mario Galaxy - both 1 & 2 - have now trumped it, but both can't claim to have been as groundbreaking.
I almost forgot that when I purchased and received Mario Kart 8 (at launch) I received a FREE game as part of the package, in my case Wind Waker HD. Bargain of 2014 to say the least.
Nintendo are doing it again. Perhaps Hyrule Warriors isn't a 'system seller', but what it is is a game - for anybody who loves Zelda - hard to miss out on. Before the year ends we shall also have Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. Now, depending on where you lie with Bayonetta 2 - personally I believe it still the shining example of its genre, tell me Smash Bros isn't a 'system seller'...
Because if it isn't I don't know if anything is any longer.
'Most wanted' games never - if very frequently - translate into actually being best in class...normally they just underwhelme. Saying that, and I know it's a long way off...Zelda U will be majestic, as all Zeldas have a scary habit of being - perhaps to a lesser extent Twilight Princess.
Nintendo could release arguably the greatest game of all time - like it did previously with the Wii, SMG...doesn't change the fact all the casuals are more interested in the newest sports franchise or another Call of Duty. That is thee only way these days to guarantee sales, but it means comprising on integrity, appealing to the lowest common denominator. Nintendo - unless they become another cookie cutter outfit are never going to be way ahead in terms of sales, these days. Think of Nint...
I think Mario Galaxy (1&2) are flawless, just when I thought it were impossible for a videogame to achieve this status. I still own and play both today. Saying that, neither are particularly 'retro' and - in my opinion - still look and play as good as any current gen title currently lauding it. I would like to (before I end) give a massive shout out to Resident Evil 4 (GC). I know, hardly an exclusive for long - for Nintendo's GameCube, but to me never bettered than when it la...
Hard to say if it was/is 'disappointing', I can only go on the games I have played/owned...
I own a Wii U, 3DS and PS4. I would say (for me) the Wii U has had a small selection of games released in 2014 which I have wanted and the consistently bought, each of them however have been great. Tropical Freeze, Nes Remix 2, Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors, all good, some great. I would say even though the 3DS and PS4 have released a higher rate of games each hasnt been as ...
How many good to great games must Nintendo release for the Wii U before its stops being referred to as a 'struggling system'? Sure, numbers sold may not be through the roof - similar to that of the Wii, but didn't the self-proclaimed 'hardcore' mock the Wii at every turn. Didn't people learn anything from the Dreamcast - like that numbers alone do not make a great console with plenty excellent exclusives in its catalogue.
Hyrule Warriors and Forza Hori...
Amazing, just amazing. Even the top 10 alone put most other developers (barring Sega perhaps) to shame in terms of creativity, innovation and pure gameplay mechanics.
Seriously, don't be soft. Its what the original 3DS should have been!? First day adopters always, always get screwed - that is the price we pay, either with hardware alterations or massive price drops. I personally cannot wait...pure evolution.
OK, perhaps "blowing the PS2 out of the water" was an exaggeration. I do however consider the GameCube to have been superior to the PS2 for that period and easily as good as the Dreamcast - sure, the Dreamcast was a marvel, but for me the GameCube had the more eclectic choice of games (just).
Highs, you missed out the Super Famicom i.e SNES. Lows, yes, the GameCube sales were not particularly strong but for me - from a 'gamers' perspective, it blew the PS2 and Xbox out of the water in terms of performance and games.
Only Nintendo could turn something like this into a success. Sony and Microsoft simply don't have the heritage - at this point, if ever. Sega could also pull of the same trick I imagine. Imagine it, Nintendo acquiring Sega...
