It is here, it has arrived...hurrah! My PS4 is currently gathering dust - gameswise. My Wii U is going from strength to strength. The new Mario Kart DLC has injected a new lease of life into an already incredible game, Bayonetta 2 is taxing me, now comes Smash...breath*
Played today...SMG2, SMW and Mario 64, in that order. Each on their initial release...impossible to separate half a dozen titles. SMB (NES), SMB3 (NES), SMW (SNES), Mario 64 (N64), SMG 1&2 (Wii). SM3DW would be an honourable mention. So, so many great Mario titles, so many!
Fact is, Ubisoft pulled the wool over everybody's eyes - visually...that the game itself turned out to be little more than serviceable was the final nail in the coffin. Sure, it may have sold in decent numbers but it had already been forgotten in most 'gamers' minds. Shame really because I own Rayman Legends for the Wii U, proof that Ubisoft can produce quality (of sorts) if it weren't just chasing the highest bidder.
No, not solid...dips. My main gripe however with this version is it still being 30fps - max. Having played GTAV already for the PS3 I found the frame rate - while not game breaking - frustrating. Seems the story of this gen (thus far) for Xbox One/PS4 owners (myself, the latter) is double the 'power' without the knack to take advantage of it properly. I also own a Wii U. IF this gen were about the games alone, trust me, Nintendo should be leading in sales.
Don't g...
Yeah IGN, why do this? Can't you just agree MOST other websites gave this game good reviews and fall in line accordingly...
Just another reason why my PS4 keeps getting more use as a Blu Ray player and catch up TV device than an actual games machine. I'll tell you something else...if it were about the games - this gen, then the Wii U (of which I also own) should be selling more than both the PS4 and Xbox One. Alas it isn't. Instead rather sadly it's about mark...
I picked up GTAV (PS3) at launch...quite enjoyed it to a point, until the newness faded and the usual monotony set in. I wont be picking up the PS4 version (released tomorrow here), but I will be likely getting said game for my PC early next year, mods NOT minimal/barely noticeable graphical upgrades will sway me.
Edit: I forgot to mention - how could I? 60fps opposed to the 30fps which if I'm honest was a real letdown.
I owned both, both great, both had their pros and cons, but for me...
The N64 nailed it! From the first time seeing (and controlling, perhaps more importantly) Mario in Mario 64 - it was like the stuff of dreams. I could list perhaps more games for the PS1 which were good/great, but I could list a dozen or so games for the N64 which were bona fide masterpieces. The PS1 was great, seriously great, thing is, the N64 was a gamers system and the pinnacle.
Mario, Zelda, Metroid, DK, basically most things Nintendo - since their series's have been tested over a longer period and remained relevant and the pinnacle of their respective genres. Perhaps Sony and Microsoft's flagship series's will do as well in due time...
That's the only problem Nintendo have - if you can call it a problem. For us fans of Nintendo, with its rich back catalogue and heritage, we can never get enough.
Nintendo has such a rich back catalogue of charachters, so many of these would make a terrific game...however. Its easy to just name particular characters, less easy to pitch exactly what sort of game would make it worthwhile. I think perhaps Mario, Zelda (Link) and Samus has the market cornered.
Stop it. Why? Because of your nearsighted, ignorant and just false statement which suggested ALL games produced by Nintendo are linear, basic and aimed at children/teens. I own a PS4, but understand, the majority of PS4 owners are children/teens, chavvy ones at that. COD, GTA and Fifa (for the most part)...chav fodder, and buggy as hell.
NOW can we put an end to the embarrassing arguments the Wii U was never truly 'next gen' and the both the PS4 and Xbox One were going to be running games at 1080p/60fps from the get go...finally!?
Agreed, but it appears most of the time - with the right sort of advertising - its a 'win'. Dont get me wrong, I would love to see Nintendo advertising its hardware and software better, but in doing so perhaps it would lose something...I'm not sure. I actually like I'm playing gems on Nintendo systems that most wont ever play, simply because its not another 'blockbuster' franchise.
I'll have this over any of the more publicised cookie-cutter 'blockbuster'. Thank you Nintendo, thank you for being there.
Remember the days games were released NOT unfinished? With the advent of 'patches' it has appeared to make a lot of game developers lazy and unprofessional. Want a good example of well made game...first party Nintendo games.
Its a shame PlayStation All Stars died on its arse, it was a respectable homage to the Smash Bros series...or was it? For respectable see shameless copy. For attempt see ham-fisted. As always however, Sony continues to sell by the millions via hard, hard advertising. Nintendo sells less, not advertising nearly as much, innovating - people fear change, and not securing the 'blockbuster' games ie chav fodder.
Clickbait alert, clickbait alert...more fool me. Surely the console 'war' is only at an end when we have the next generation of consoles in place, NOT 1-2 years into their stride. Besides, how do you decide who won? Sales, games, innovation? Most people look to sales, though God only knows why. I as a gamer like to go with exclusives and gameplay. So far for me, and I own a PC, Wii U, 3XS XL and PS4 - it has been the Wii U which has held my interest longer, be it it's games, innov...
Yeah, the Wii U is a 'flop', right? You know the Dreamcast was a flop in terms of sales, didn't stop it being one of the best remembered in gamers minds - number bods being dinosaurs. Also, I don't agree Majoras Mask would be better on the Wii U, both prices of hardware will bring their strengths to said game.
Its a great choice for it to be 'remade' on the 3DS as opposed to the Wii U. I own both a 3DSXL and a Wii U but for me the argument is console sales - it (Majoras Mask) will reach a far greater audience on the 3DS, and that is good. Also Ocarina was a great success remade for the 3DS, hopefully this will simply follow on from that good work. Besides, if you want Majoras Mask for the Wii U simply switch to Wii Mode and download it, bug free and smooth running.
Actually it will, obviously...yes, I know you were just trolling, but still. Besides, one thing I will NEVER understand is that are people like you gamers or marketing managers? The Dreamcast and Gamecube (for example) sold poorly, didnt stop them both housing some of the best games in recent times. In the end, nobody true gamer will remember which console sold more than which, just the memories of the great games they have played in their life.
