Watch Dogs OR I continue to keep playing Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2 and wait for Smash to arrive in a couple of days....mmm, decisions, decisions. Reviews aside for Watch Dogs - which were average if generous, Watch Dogs sold well because little to nothing else was available (games-wise) when it launched, coupled with the fact it was hyped to hell, falsely. I stick with the same philosophy I have had since I began gaming way back...continue to buy and play the games I consider good without sa...
A sequel to SMG...erm, SMG2? Possibly one of the best sequels of all time AND - as a stand alone game - one of the best of all time.
No, fair (and factual) point. There I was, rushing in to praise Nintendo with what they are currently achieving with the Wii U I made basic errors. I'll instead say congratulations to the day developers of Smash in conjunction with Nintendo for loaning these iconic characters out.
Can Nintendo devs do any more? Seriously, SM3DW, Mario Kart 8 and now this - Smash. So, so much care, attention and detail is poured into every one of its staple IP's, not to mention the gameplay which keeps on giving.
Yes, I'm a fool. I bought into the propaganda and picked up Watch Dogs (at launch) for my PS4...I also own a Wii U and PC. While not an awful game I'd describe it as serviceable - at best. Everything about it is average, apart from the clunky controls which fall below...driving in this game is simply awful. While I appreciate these are 2 completely different games but, if you want Ubisoft on the Wii U buy Rayman Legends.
@Kid-Prodigy-KP Sure, I'm a Nintendo "fan boy" if that means I have owned a PS1, 2, 3 and now 4, Xbox, 360, Dreamcast, ect, ect, but still continue to prefer Nintendo consoles and the games (exclusives) they offer. I unlike some - and let's be honest - don't knock 'rival' consoles and games without owning and experiencing them myself.
I have over the years enjoyed numerous non-Nintendo consoles and games, the Dreamcast being a particular favourit...
You can list games, I'll give you that. However, there is NO guarantee ANY of those games will be any good, I mean, Sony are NOT Nintendo when it comes to dead certs. Sure, promising, but currently I am playing Baytonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8 (with new DLC) for my Wii U...Smash lands next week. So, while over Christmas I will be actually playing AAA games for my Wii U, for my PS4 its another what if moment.
For me - and I bought day 1, the PS4 has been while not quite a disaster, not far from it. The quantity of games was never a problem, the quality was. Take away games you could have played on other machines, exclusively it left/leaves a lot to be desired. By comparison my Wii U has grew and grew and grew. In the last 6 months my Wii U has been a constant source while my PS4 is getting used infrequently, and NOT as a games machine - NO, rather a Blu Ray played and occasional Catch Up player.
I was about to comment myself, the I read this. Sums up perfectly how I feel (still) about Nintendo, this gen and the future of videogames in general.
Yeah, death. WTF!? No Nintendo owning gamer on the planet would call Nintendo's catalogue of games currently - both Wii U and 3DS - a death. I bought a PS4 at launch and trust me, besides being used as a Blu Ray player (movies) and the occasional catch up service, it isn't getting a look in next to my Wii U. Currently I have Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 on the go, Smash is due next week. Now, name me 3 PlayStation 4 exclusives which can compare to just those 3 aforementioned games alo...
I would highly recommend people think twice before purchasing, even at the reduced price. A demo is available for PC via Steam, so I tried it...average at best. Those expecting a return to 'true' survival horror or the giddy highs of Resident Evil 4, forget about it. Plodding is how I'd describe it - my initial impressions.
For those who dismissed Nintendo's 'next gen' credentials...I hope you are enjoying playing last gen games (paid for twice in most instances) at the same frame rates - sub 30fps, albeit with slighter sharper looking grass, LOL. I don't mean to sound so bitter, in fact I bought a PS4 at launch, its just the early opinions surrounding the Wii U's graphical capabilities seem to have been GREATLY exaggerated.
I really can't reiterate enough what an absolute amazing, complete and expert job Nintendo have done with this DLC. Ive been bowled over by what I have experienced thus far...and that F Zero track, WOW.
No need for ridicule. Just be happy we have the foresight and open-mindedness to own Nintendo (Wii U) and as such don't miss out on the many mini masterpieces such as SM3DW, Mario Kart 8 and Smash. I own a dozen more Wii U games - Rayman Legends, Pikmin 3, W101, Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, etc, etc, but I wouldn't swap the aforementioned 3 Nintendo games for all the PS4/Xbox One games in the world.
Just a word of note, I bought (and currently own) a PS4 at launch.
LOL at grass comparison videos. I trust that 'article' is getting hundreds upon hundereds of rabid fan boy comments where as the release of Smash U will barely register in a chavs mind. Such a sad state of affairs, still, do I care...not a jot.
Another near 'perfect' score. Between this, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8, I can really see why people are questioning the Wii U's credentials... after all, nothing says 'next gen' quite like another 'remastering'. Its a sad state when people won't be convinced by a system (or its games) because it does things differently i.e NOT just house semi-realistic 'adult' games.
Can't wait for next Friday...
I can't pair it with the release of Pokemon AND the New 3DS...my head will likely explode.
They (Nintendo) had me with Smash Wii U. That - according to early reviews - has even surpassed all expectations is the cherry on the cake. Once again Nintendo reverse peoples - not the 'chavs', they will always covet COD and GTA - opinions via games bundled with charm and polish. 1080p and 60fps anyone?
Funny, because I see Sony being a shadow of their former self - particular in the console and exclusive (games) market. I've owned all so I should know, with each PlayStation the games and hardware have become increasingly predictable and average. Nintendo on the other hand are the reason I continue to stay interested in videogames.
Unofficial game of the year - the gamers choice...well, this and Mario Kart 8. No doubt some semi-realistic 'mature' game will win the hearts of the chavs.
