No wonder people (constantly) describe the Wii U as 'underpowered' and 'dead'...its games like this and NUMEROUS ports of previous gen games which make me appreciate the power HIDDEN within my PS4 - bought at launch. Sarcasm aside, Bloodbourne is the only game exclusive to the PS4 (at present) worth championing.
A sequel to the (by far) worst 3D Mario? A HD 'remake' is an even worse idea. Don't get me wrong, Sunshine is a solid 3D platformer but falls way below the bar Nintendo has set with the franchise. Regarding a new home console Luigi's Mansion. Yes, the idea GREATLY appeals, but I fear both LM1&2 fleshed out the idea to the maximum. Perhaps a new game starring Wario and/or Waluigi is a better prospect...
Should have included 'bosses' from both Luigi's Mansion 1 & 2 to create a better top 3. Both genuinely brilliant games.
£12 for each - adding up to £24 for both, obviously (lol). Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed both on initial release, but the value of either should have diminished way more than what Sony feel ok to charge here. £4.99 would have been a far more reasonable pricing structure for a PS2 title.
Its a shame the industry doesn't recognise great games such as this via sales while more pleb friendly titles rake it in. Still, when I come to 'retire' from gaming I'll have the memories of unique, fun and genuinely essential games - such as said game - where as others it will be a blur.
So true. Any visual upgrades from the PC version will be negligible anyhow. Again, another example of trolls who champion 'specs' and call the Wii U 'underpowered' seeing mostly ports of last gen games available on their media all in 1 entertainment systems.
So true its bloody obvious. Look at the PS4 this gen for an example. For all the fan boys bleat on about its specs, its ports of last gen games, some pretty dreary 3rd party games AND a half a dozen or so (barring Bloodbourne) uninspiring exclusives. Specs only create the platform. I wouldnt bet on Nintendo taking this thing by the scruff of the neck once the battle of specs and being first to market dies down. Nintendo doing what it does, taking pretty archaic tech and making it whole, backe...
Nintendo fights its own battles - these days in particular - and is all the better for it. Pick up either Wii U and/or New 3DS, now boot up any number of AAA exclusive titles...fun? polished? etc, etc. The answer for me is almost always yes. Why would I need to look under the hood of said hardware...
Please, stop this 'better' hardware bluff. Hardware is defined by its games, NOT its GHz and megabytes. The Gamepad is only gimmicky if used in a gimmicky way, and thus far it hasn't been. You know the PS4's touchpad and XB's Kinect...gimmicky.
So please, next time instead of focusing on numbers and buzzwords, remember it's about the GAMES - or certainly should be on a games console.
Here we go again...
IF Nintendo 'phoned it in' with the Wii U, then what the hell do you call what Sony and/or Microsoft did with the PS4/XB1? While each Nintendo console is an entirely different beast from the one that preceded it, the same definitely cant be said for 'rival' hardware.
Speaking from a good position - somebody who has owned a Wii U since launch AND collection of games over this period, NO, Nintendo definitely did NOT 'phon...
Which you could (surely) say about any 'rival' console...
More quality over quantity...that is a GOOD thing just in case of misinterpreted. More fighters (of course) would have been welcomed, as for more everything, but the 'bare bones' game - I'm playing it currently - is a mini revelation. So much has been achieved here and the groundwork so solid I hope for more variations in the franchise down the line. Damn near essential.
I can't agree with any top 10 Zelda games list which places TP above SS. Now I'm sorry, and while I'm playing through TP:HD at present - and thoroughly enjoying my time spent with it, SS is (for me) a far, far better Zelda, doing everything I expect if a NEW Zelda. While TP is very, very good, it feels more of a best of without bring much new ideas to the table.
Amazing. The OPTION of an easy mode. It's like (for example) is Demons Souls bad the OPTION of an easy mode, would it diminish the experience for those who CHOSE to play it on 'normal' or hard setting? I don't see how.
Another 'killer' 3rd party title Wii U owners (such as myself) will be sorely missing...*sniggers*
Jokes aside, I'm currently playing through TP:HD with Pokémon Tournament due to drop tomorrow and Star Fox Zero next month. Yep, the Wii U truly is a 'dead console'.
You know, not every game which deviates slightly from the 'traditional' control method can be named gimmicky.
#we fear change...predictable dullards.
Amazing you were able to take genuinely essential arguably classic Wii U exclusives and put a bitter nasty spin on each.
*claps effort in trolling*
Yes, X is epic and an essential JRPG. Splatoon, dull? and what of this 'gimmick'...I think you misunderstood the term. That you completed SM3DW in a week simply tells me you have way to much time to play videogames. Too similar to SM3DL? That's like saying SMG 1 & 2 were too similar. Lastly, I sugg...
'Droughts', 'Underpowered', 'Gimmicks', blah, blah, blah.
Look past the obvious trolling and actual play the games at ground level and you'll realise...Nintendo is still as essential as ever - perhaps more so - in a fast becoming predictable arms race industry. Games before BS.
BUT, its not 'just' Mario games which are almost always essential - and I do mean ESSENTIAL. I have quite a library of games for my Wii U at present and a) I'm VERY picky and b) I would genuinely describe each as essential...Indie, retail and Virtual Console.
The 'final product' is the retail version which has been on sale for month and months now. The benefits being no semi-supercomputer is required AND free from bugs, glitches, etc, etc...oh, and hassle free, smooth and moreish online multi-player.
