Glad to see some reviews coming in based on the product as a whole. Yes, the core 1 on 1 fighting experience is (probably) a 10 out of 10, but - as reviewed here - the score should reflect the game as a whole. Glad I held off on a day 1 purchase.
Also, as Eurogamer's Digital Foundry analysis suggests, not even locked 60fps on PS4!? I mean, people always troll Nintendo even when particular games run at 60fps - 'oh, its because of the cartoony graphics'...WELL? Doub...
1. Sonic Lost World is not over hated, just a very, very average game.
2. Star Wars Battlefront is definitely not over hated, again, just very by the numbers.
3. TMNT Out of the Shadows is RIGHTLY hated.
4. Arkham Origins (Online) was barely discussed - rightly so.
5. Red Steel was over hated, more jarring however was how unappreciated is successor (Red Steel 2) was/is.
I wish people would drop the 'gimmick' trolling. I own both New 3DS and Wii U, as I have (almost) every major Nintendo hardware incarnation barring the DS - I waited until the DSi arrived. I have never encountered any gimmick during this entirety. QTE's - those are (usually) gimmicky. PS Move - gimmicky. Kinect - gimmicky.
See the BIG difference...
Sometimes people just say sh*t...
If both Wii U and 3DS are dead, maybe I should ditch my large library of games for each and throw said hardware in the skip...I mean, who have I been kidding whilst enjoying using each on a regular basis?
Nintendo continue to astonish. From the very first Mario game to the most recent (SM3DW), steering the franchise through every gen AND the difficult transition from 2D to 3D - something in which they made look effortless. Challengers come and go, Nintendo remain with their hands firmly on the prize.
Static, pre-orchestrated, airbrushed screenshots are a doddle. Sadly, many PS4/XB1 games - NOT SFV - fall foul of inconsistent frame rates and screen-tearing.
Good luck with the defence...
I've enjoyed every major SF incarnation to varying degrees, however, the launch of SFV makes makes the launch for Driveclub look positive. You can imagine the trolls if it had launched exclusively on Wii U in this state...OH WOW!
Wii U versus PS Vita? Why, how or WHY? Nintendo stands alone in the console race - for good and bad - creating games/experiences entirely unique to Nintendo and unfamiliar with any of its 'competitors'. You dont like Nintendo for not coveting EVERY 3rd party developer...buy either Sony, Microsoft and/or PC. Easy.
Its true. This is one of the worst examples (to date) of this - fast becoming the norm - releasing incomplete games. I feel like Capcom will just get away with it due to (as stated previously) the core fighting being so solid, but I'm not sold. I'll stick with SFV Ultra (PC) in the meantime, let Capcom get their act together and release DLC after DLC, patch after patch...only then will I upgrade.
Capcom got lazy, basically. The fighting will be just as good as ever, of that I am certain. However, as a fleshed out full price title, Capcom sold us up the river. Never mind, those same lugs who bought Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 (for example) will not care one iota - sadly for the rest of us.
Now hang on. IF the jump between titles had been akin to the jump between SFII to III to IV, then yes, I would have likely purchased at launch - despite content reservations. However, the 'jump' from IV to V appears (thus far) purely vanity, and as I stated previously, owning as I do IV Ultra for my PC makes this purchase non-essential.
Edit: for "eternity" read 6 months, MAX. Street Fighter is after all thee franchise which bestows on us incarnation after i...
I'll buy the game when its complete, not in the form it has taken of drip-feeding us PAID content month after month. Besides, while I really am looking forward to SFV, I currently have SFIVU for my VERY basic PC and (surprisingly, or not) it runs buttery smooth at 60fps in Full HD.
I do/try this. My problem being that when I do find the time and/or remember to go back to said game I've lost the thread - if it is a particularly big game. This is why I find Nintendo best suits my lifestyle. Pick up and play games which are polished, fun and have a great learning curve.
For you perhaps.
I could not disagree more. Keep your 3rd party fodder.
I would NOT like to referee this bout. If I had to choose...Metroid, points decision.
Trolling at its absolute worst.
Gimmicky - the Nintendo haters go to word. The Gamepad and/or Wii Remote are not gimmicky. I'll tell you gimmicky...PlayStation Move. See the difference? Also, the "low-spec" argument is bluff. Smash U (for example) runs at 1080p AND 60fps. Mario Kart 8 and SM3DW, 720p/1080p AND 60fps. Nintendo pushing for a high-end PC would be total overkill.
Now, while I understand for the majority of PS4/XB1 users it is a spec...
Sales, sales, sales. I guarantee when I 'retire' from gaming any fond memories I have are in no way linked to sales. While I understand sales define a game/consoles 'success' its certainly not my focus.
Look at the Wii U for proof solid hardware and an essential library of games isn't popular anymore compared with trends, 3rd party filler AND aggressive marketing. This is the reason the Dreamcast sold horribly back when.
Just for the record - I bought the Dreamcast at launch, many, MANY games for it AND consider the Wii U the best console this gen, all in all. I do not follow trends...
OR, Dolphin stands on the shoulders of Nintendo and offers something completely unnecessary - proclaims itself big. I don't know how many fps SMG 1 & 2 ran at launch, but having owned (and completed) both I can testify but looked and ran flawlessly. Also, a Wii cost roughly £150 at launch, to get SMG2 running at this spec today requires a serious rig.
