Too early? No - but as with anything 'new' early adopters are going to have a time of it, maximum expensive and little return.
Second game since Rare Replay - and possibly Tomb Raider 2 - which makes me wish I had an Xbox One.
Disagree. Bold, colourful and easily navigated.
Nintendo - much like Microsoft and/or Sony - is a business. Like when Sony started charging for playing online mult-player, or when Microsoft backtracked on blocking 'used' games. With Nintendo - either via 3DS or Wii U - we can play online without any additional charges, as well we should, but try telling Microsoft or Sony this. Yes, I agree, retroactively rewarding purchases would have been smart, but swings and roundabouts...
Bad, bad example. Pupeteer, Thieves in Time, Tearaway Unfolded are while fun little games EXACTLY that, budget. Nothing wrong with that, but it's just a fact.
Oh, and you...ZIP IT yourself!
You think the only difference between Nintendo and Insomniac is a red logo? LOL. Nintendo have housed a dozen or so (minimum) of the best games of all time, easy. Even this gen Nintendo have given us numerous contenders for the best game of this gen (this far). Insomniac have given us Sunset Overdrive...
Looking at these comments...the 'POWER' argument is DROSS! All the talk of Nintendo releasing a console (Wii U) 'barely more powerful' than previous gen consoles. Talk is cheap. Look at the games available for the Wii U. Stunners! Many, many titles which look, run AND play beautifully. I defy anybody to play a dozen or so of Nintendo's finest for the Wii U and imagine how any more could have been achieved, even via the most powerful PC available to buy.
Me...
Fair enough, but when Edge scored Skyward Sword a 10/10 - a score I agree with 100% - why then did the trolls brush it under the rug? Hypocrisy.
Disagree. I picked up Bloodbourne (digitally) for my PS4 - going off the back of numerous GOTY awards, Edge Magazine in particular making me sit up and take notice. After time spent with said game I cant call it a bad game - previously mentioned GOTY awards put to bed that argument - just it isnt my cup of tea, however you want to call it. I never played Dark Souls II but own Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for my PC, again, just couldn't get on with it.
Now this is a ...
I cant figure out if you are joking or not. if not...outrages! Any developer with his salt works within the 'constraints' of said hardware. Nintendo have shown it time and time and time again. Games released on so-called 'underpowered' hardware which both look and run flawlessly. Typical if Ubisoft blamed the tools and not themselves.
I'm terribly, terribly Sorry, bit while Insomniac have released some solid/good games since being formed, comparing them with Nintendo is absolutely outrages.
err, NO. Its a business. A 'budget' price can only reflect a budget game, I'm worried to say.
Reading through the comments here is boring to say the least. All talk of ram this and ghz that, buffering, anti-aliasing, etc, etc. I think all Nintendo consoles have been 'pretty great' for one reason or another, both strengths and weaknesses. The time to tell if a console is bad, average or good (for example) is NOT before launch or even a few months after, but once it comes to an end. How many truly essential games were exclusive to said console? Surely the memories will not be of...
Agree and disagree. Yes, a new IP, and no, hardly a NEW IP. Take away the name (Watch Dogs) and what you are left with is a very cookie cutter experience, sadly a VERY below average one at that. I'll hear out Watch Dogs 2, I just dont expect to be proven wrong.
Agreed. I dont know how you have scored 3 disagrees with that comment? Its not like you tore apart WD piece by piece, just commented on it perhaps wasn't enough for you to be interested in this or any sequels forthcoming. I mean, its not like it wouldn't be easy to list everything bad about WD...
Shock horror. A very formulaic sequel - from all accounts, I stand to be corrected - reviews as well as previously Dark Souls 1 & 2 did, even Demons Souls. This is by no means a slight towards Dark Souls III, just an early observation.
@ninsigma
My point EXACTLY. While you may think Star Fox Zero to look terrible, history has shown others to say similar on early inspection of other staple Nintendo IP's, only later to go hands on with the finished product and be forced to admit defeat. Also, regarding the 'budget' pricing of R&C...can you give me a GOOD reason as to why Insomniac would do this?
Dont count against Star Fox Zero arriving and taking all the plaudits - particularly in face of the near-sighted criticism. I'm looking forward to both games, but if I was a betting man, Star Fox coupled with Platinum Games coupled with Nintendo...a near enough sure thing.
Edit: Also the concern R&C(PS4) being released at a 'budget' price raises alarm bells. This is after all a business. I doubt Insomniac simply felt generous.
Another good example for the graphic whores. Yes, better hardware affords the opportunity of better games - developer reliant, but a bad game is a bad game forever, as somebody MUCH wiser than me once said. You could have a photo-realistic Resident Evil 6 running at 120fps, I'll still take Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube for the better game/experience...still a good looking and playable game to this day, a classic.
Like back in the gen previous from this gen. Yes, the Wii...
A great period for local multiplayer/co-op. The Arcade scene was immense, something in which the online world will never come close to replicating.
