I really, really hope those commenting as to the opinion is the Wii U a success or failure owned said console for its near entirety and aren't just sniping from the sidelines...though I HIGHLY doubt they did/do. I can't comment for anybody else, but I've owned a Wii U since near launch, and honestly, I have found it to offer endless enjoyment via games either retail, Indie or Virtual Console. My PS4 on the other hand - bought day 1 - has been used more as a Blu Ray/catch-up player...
Yes, but only the minority of 3rd party releases are worth giving a go. In an ideal world Nintendo would possess both 1st party AND 3rd party...this is NOT an ideal world. Going on that basis I'd ALWAYS go with 1st party exclusivity on Nintendo hardware.
Believe it or not, but I didn't buy a Wii U to make a profit from it, no, I bought it because history dictates Nintendo release many, many exclusive games on each console every gen...I never want to miss out on it. I could go on forever naming some of my favourite games of all time which just so happen to have been exclusive to a Nintendo console.
So all the games I've amassed and still enjoy with multiplayer and/or replayability are now redundant...is this accurate? That's it, toss it all in the bin, get rid of it, both PS4 and XB1 - even if you aren't a fan of either - are the future...
Seriously, some people must do little else but game, game, game. Since buying the Wii U at launch I've struggled to keep up with games being released before I've give a previous title a fair crack of the whip. Too many great, great games in which I've barely scratched the surface.
I suggest once you 'grow up' and things such as a job, partner, family, friends and other outside interests take over, you'll find a new game every few month more than enou...
The PS4 (at launch) sold amazingly well - breaking even records I believe. Must have been all those (again, launch) great games, right?
It's like people won't be satisfied with Nintendo unless they are all things to all people, and then some.
Chances? I can't name a Nintendo home console which didn't succeed in one form or another - or both. If we are talking the Wii and/or Wii U for 'chances', because we usually are, the Wii opened up gaming to millions upon millions of people once neglected, and the Wii U, an awesome dozen or so absolutely essential exclusives.
This trolling/clickbait laid at Nintendo's door must stop.
Sounds like I'm going to need to delete EVERYTHING off my hard drive just to get the game running. A 5gb patch!? How big (for example) was Resident Evil 4 (GC)...
I'm sorry you doubt, but that doesn't change the FACT I both own and am playing through it currently, enjoying it a lot thus far. Don't confuse me with those who troll Nintendo from the sidelines without investing themselves in both console and games, prefer instead to echo other non-Nintendo owning trolls - like sheep. Also, while I place A Crack in Time as my favourite R&C, I still don't consider it a masterpiece, simply brilliant. Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Skyward...
My God I hate all the 'power' drivel coming out the mouths of the self-proclaimed 'hardcore' in the comments section here. These people no doubt haven't supported Nintendo for at least the Wii U and Wii period I guess, and now they want to spout GHz and MHz.
Stick with your PC, XBOX or PlayStation, you won't be missed. Nintendo stands for something different from that, a breath of fresh air...and now you want to pull ranks and have them fall in line!...
Not a masterpiece, not even the best R&C game in my opinion - A Crack in Time deserves that honour. A very, very good game and visually brilliant. An essential PS4 title.
The X Factor, Transformer movies and Kanye West (for example) have achieved 'success'...
Personally, I define success - at least in videogame terms - based on did I enjoy the game, simple. Yes, each developer strive for sales, of course, but as a player, sales don't factor in one iota. The Wii U may (or may not) be labeled ''underpowered' in a lab, side by side with more powerful machines, but in my living room, its what has the developer been able t...
First, one guy - not the entire Polygon team and/or videogame community - hated the game, one guy. You know, I actually dislike Bloodbourne and Souls games, no trolling, I just haven't the patience or skill to be rewarded with either. Besides, disliking the game (SFZ) is one thing, disliking based on poor reviews instead of playing said game is something else entirely. Sheep.
If not being a 'gamer' means getting hung up on 3rd party fodder AND staring at TV screens way more than is healthy, then yes, happily consider me not a gamer.
I have been playing videogames since the early home computers, Arcades and invested every gen in 1 or mostly 2 home consoles, played every 'major' game...but what does that matter?
Ok, big deal. I've not played my Wii U for a good while either - I even have Fatal Frame Wii U unopened. Not playing a console for a length of time hasn't always (gladly) to do with a lack of games. In my case, family, girlfriend, work and my many, many other outside interests have taken president is all.
It like some people are looking to make something out of something which doesn't necessarily exist.
When - via PS4/XB1 - will the 'next gen' truly begin. ANOTHER re-release...FFS.
You kidding!? All the specs trolls constantly banging on about MHz, GHz that and 'underpowered' bile. Yes, Sony has played it right into their hands.
I've amassed quite the Wii U library, and for me, yes, 99.9% of Nintendo/Wii U games have been worth what I paid (full price) for them. I could argue (for example) Bloodbourne. All the reviews and awards made me feel I must buy/play Bloodbourne, and even though I ended up getting the GOTY edition for only £25, the minimal time and enjoyment I have got out of it makes my £25 notes feell steep.
No, you don't NEED to own said console, but it may give you some perspective, perhaps.
Yes, it may be the "lowest selling Nintendo console", but even during the sales success of the Wii, people - such as you I imagine - still sniped.
You keep quoting numbers. Anybody who owned the 'failure' that was the Dreamcast would testify to it being anything but, surely.
