I honestly have always believed the Wii U to be thee perfect console for Shenmue 3. The Gamepad coupled with the Miiverse features could really open a game like this up, plus Nintendo consoles - like the Sega Dreamcast - have a history of taking on mammoth tasks, this would be one of its biggest in recent memory.
Not sure its my favourite, hard to discount how phenomenal Ocarina felt on initial release, but its surely (Skyward Sword) one of the finest Zelda games available and more than makes up for the fairly vanilla Twilight.
Please, no, NEW titles! Yes, give us our favourite franchises but dont do a Sony and just spoon feed us old games for double the price originally and call it "next gen".
This game is old skool hard!
A good solid score for Tropical Freeze, that will do me great. I hadn't expected it to break barriers, looks like this will see me through all of March thank goodness, particularly with nothing else of note due that month.
Pikmin 3, surely. Also Nintendo Remix is a great challenge and nostalgia trip for those of us old enough to remember the original NES games.
Personally I consider the original Gamecube version to still be the definitive version, this HD remake actually (for me) has diluted the experience. Sure, it looks nicer on an HD T.V, no question, but as for actual gameplay improvements...
The Swift Sail is nothing but an addition for those gamers with ADD, Hero Mode is an unnecessary addition trying again to please the self-proclaimed "hardcore", its about the EXPERIENCE not the difficulty. Skipping/speeding up ani...
Boy does the Wii U deserve this at minimum. A game such as SM3DW deserves to reach a far wider audience, truly a masterful experience. Wind Waker HD - for those unlike me who didn't play the Gamecube version to death - (again) deserves huge recognition. A truly unique and bold Zelda adventure.
I truly hope the Wii U reaches more homes and doesn't suffer the fate the equally great Dreamcast did, people only bemoaning its fate once it was too late.
If this is true - regarding a 3DS player for the Wii U - then colour me excited! I rather stupidly traded my launch 3DS not long after, I must be developing a short attention span in my old age. As such I have since missed the barrage of incredible looking/sounding games since...this (3DS/Wii U player if true) would be just the tonic.
Must resist re-buying a 3DS...
Erm, they (Nintendo) reached a huge audience with the Wii under the noses of Sony and Microsoft...result? The self-proclaimed "hardcore" did nothing but bitch about it. Nintendo, damned if they do damned if they don't it appears.
Sega's Dreamcast would be considered a fail if spoken of solely in terms of numbers/sales, didnt stop if for me - similarly to the Wii U - being a great console with some wonderful games.
Spoken like a true troll and somebody who I guarantee 100% doesn't own one. Ive owned a Wii U since early March and after a slow start i.e most console launches, certainly my current PS4 and if I remember will PS3, its at present a wonderful console and a breath of fresh air in a fast becoming predictable industry.
Good Gamepad, excellent OS and a (now) wonderful mix of games, some of which genuinely outstanding and exclusive only to Nintendo.
Both!? Now there's practical...
Virtual Console for me, because most Gamecube games - certainly the one you would want to play today - still stand up well visually, if of course you aren't a self-proclaimed "hardcore". The penchant for HD remakes is getting beyond a joke now.
I love the original comment. "Nintendo need to evolve of die". Incredible! You would have to be ignorant or blind/deaf not to see Nintendo as arguably thee only console manufacturer who innovates, takes risks and moves on. Move, Kinect...nice "new" ideas, but where did they get the inspiration I wonder?
It's true. Bayonetta 2 wont make a dent. Mario Kart and Smash Bros will both sell like hot cakes, deservedly so. Bayonetta 2 is WAY too niche.
Also, will people stop just naming games the likes of which (while critically acclaimed) never sell well. Hell's teeth, if Shenmue was a "flop" then haven't we learnt anything...
You really think "graphics" - because that is what I assume you are solely referring to when you use the term "next gen" incorrectly - is an important factor in games selling? Wrong. Only the self-proclaimed "hardcore" care a jot as to ultra high resolutions, the rest I'm happy to say just want a game which plays great, runs smooth and is not an unfinished, buggy mess...though that didn't stop Skyrim doing well on PS3.
The Wii U and Ninte...
A good line-up IF you still own a PS3. I unfortunately (practically) traded mine in towards my PS4 and as such am feeling rather - ironically - left behind. PS Plus has had nothing for those of us who bought into Sony's "next gen" idea, the store for PS4 is overpriced and bereft of content.
Wish I had waited to own a PS4 until much, much later into 2014. Still, my Wii U has thankfully been hogging the living room T.V.
@Pozzle Sorry, I wasn't specifically talking about Fatal Frame III, more just games in the series. Disagree however with even the right marketing these games would sell much better, videogame history is full of great, great games which only reached a small portion of people. Okami is surely a perfect example of this.
They do come to the west, sadly the audience is never great enough that what games we have received sell in such poor numbers. I personally think a Wii U version with the Gamepad used as the camera is a no-brainer.
Am I wrong in thinking the Gamecube version looked better than this. No, I'm not (obviously) talking resolution wise but a more natural appearance, this P.C version - as usual - looks P.Cish, again, obviously.
Think I'll stick with the very, very fond memories I have of the Gamecube version rather than step back in time trying to relive the same experience, impossible anyhow.
Strange, very strange. I say this because when I think of Nintendo I think of its hardware and software tied, one without the other would be diluting the experience. Nintendo (for me) create thee best hardware, only the Virtual Boy in my memory can be considered a "failure". The amount of innovation which comes with each new Nintendo console should make other developers shamed.
