I CAN'T.... FREAKING WAIT!!!!
MGS has always been epic in proportion... I can still remember the sheer awe I got the first time I played Metal Gear Solid 2... I'm confident that Kojima will attain the same level of "wow" with this game...
And honestly, I don't care if this game is released for the 360 as well... EVERYBODY needs some Metal Gear Solid in their life!! ;-)
If your system is still impossible to find six months after launch, then your average consumer is going to assume that it is the greatest of the three consoles... Thus why you can't find them anywhere...
The Wii is using technology that's AT LEAST seven years old... All off-the-shelf components (no custom CPU, no custom GPU, heck even the motion sensors are off-the-shelf components), there is NO reason that they can't crank the things out in HUGE numbers...
The...
Gears of War (looked up on TorrentSpy) is 6.4GB rar'ed up. My guess would be somewhere around 8-9 gigs for the ISO...
So, yeah... It probably takes close to an entire DVD9 disc...
Honestly, that's the ONLY thing that would make sense... If Sony does end up putting out a MORE expensive PS3 model, then their management is smoking crack...
Besides, what's the point of putting out another PS3 model with more storage, the hard drive is user upgradeable anyhow!
Hopefully this listing is for the 65nm Cell models... Less power consumption, cooler operating (although I haven't run into a heat issue with my PS3 in the almost five months I've had i...
Halo loaded FAST coming off the hard drive... ;-)
Is due to hard disk caching more than anything... That's why Microsoft REALLY needs to drop the 360 Core SKU, drop the price on the 360 Premium, drop the price on the 20GB hard drives, and allow developers to REQUIRE the hard drive for their games..
I thought that was so goofy that ALL of the original Xbox'es had hard drives STOCK... But the 360 comes out with a model that doesn't have a hard drive, and devs are supposed to code their games as if the 360 DOESN'T have a hard d...
First, HD discs not needed...
The Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive comes out...
Then, 1080p is pointless...
The patch for 1080p support comes out...
Then, HDMI is not needed...
The Xbox 360 Elite comes out...
And the real kicker is that Micro$oft could have used this as the chance to beat Sony to the 65nm processor punch, BUT THEY DIDN'T!!! Which, by the way... Sony is already mass producing the Cell on the 65nm process, and working on t...
And that is US House of Representatives bill H.R. 5252. What this does is to eliminate network neutrality for the Internet. Currently, carriers cannot discriminate against traffic coming from any source since the Internet is considered a public network.
What H.R. 5252 does is that it allows carriers to treat their backbone networks as private networks. This opens the door for the carriers to go to a tiered billing scheme, charging more for priority handling of network traffi...
BUT... It's good to have the info out there just in case somebody does run into this (highly unlikely) situation.
I do have to give Microsoft kudos for FINALLY putting out a bigger hard drive... now if only they would kill off the core SKU, drop the price of the 20GB drive to dirt cheap, and untie the hands of the developers (allowing games to be made that REQUIRE the hard drive).
Don't forget that the PS3 internal hard drive is user upgradeable... I'm running a Hitachi 160GB hard drive in my 60GB model PS3 with no issues.

Honestly, I'm surprised that the first Wii modchips came out so quickly after launch... The GameCube didn't get a modchip until at least halfway through the lifecycle.
BUT... It's inevitable... Every console will end up either hacked or chipped. And usually the more of a challenge you make it to chip the system, the more people you'll have working to get around your copy protection...
At least it's not as easy to play pirated games on the Wii as it is on the ...
"neither format is any closer to displacing the conventional DVD as the physical media of choice."
DVD hasn't killed off VHS yet... You can STILL go into your local electronics store and pickup a VCR (although mostly combo DVD/VCR units nowadays)... Does that mean that DVD failed? Far from it...
You're probably going to still see DVD's around for the next 20 years... It takes a LONG time for an established format to fully die out. Shoot, if you loo...
"your console creaks, flap breaks, hard drive corrupts, games give errors"
Hmmm... sounds like the launch 360's... ;-)
Seriously now... HDMI is not all it's cracked up to be... NOBODY is adhering to the spec as of yet (especially not Westinghouse... Grrr), and the only thing that you NEED HDMI (or HDCP enabled DVI) for is watching (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) movies in 1080p. HD-DVD currently doesn't even require HDCP to do 1080p.
The only...
The only problem with creating a fake account based in another country is how do you add funds to your PSN Store account?
I went through that trying to get Tekken DR off of the Hong Kong store. My bankcard (or either credit card) would not work for adding funds to that account.
1. Can anyone come up with a good explanation why BLUE-RAY is needed for games?
It gives the developers up to 50GB of storage for games. This allows for larger games. Also, putting out every PS3 game on Blu-Ray helps to bring down the mass production costs on Blu-Ray discs
2. Also what can BLUE-RAY do that HD-DVD can't?
Store 25GB per layer... ;-) This allows movie studios to put HD movies AND extras on a single layer, unlike HD-DVD where doin...
I guess you could call me one of those freaks that actually prefers gaming on a handheld vs. a home console... My roommate has been calling me a weirdo for this for years... ;-)
Personally, I can't wait to see what the next generation of handhelds will be like. I'm hoping that Nintendo puts out something more powerful than the PSP (I'm thinking portable gamecube... That would be incredibly SWEEEEEET).
And Sony... Don't get me started on the PSP... I've had ...
The video chipset has to support HDCP to be able to output over HDMI. This is why a lot of PC owners (myself included) cannot hook up their PC's to HD TV's via DVI.
The new Elite 360 more than likely also includes an updated video chipset to give them HDCP support.
Personally, HDMI is still a VERY young technology, and still pretty buggy... I tried hooking up both my PS3, and my cable box to my TV via HDMI, and ran into the infamous "flashing screen" ...
Yep... it definitely compares to the 60GB PS3... In price too! ;-)
I was SOOOO hoping that Microsoft would drop the core, drop the price on the premium to the core price, and have the elite somewhere a little over $400, but that didn't happen... =P
It's that it discourages a$$h0l3 eBay scalpers from monopolizing the market (like how it is with the Wii, and was with the 360)
You gotta love it how the Wii in a retail store will cost you $249.99, but on eBay, the same thing will cost you $100 more... Even though you're not getting anything extra with it.
Or all these stores putting out "Wii bundles" where just to get your hands on one, it will set you back over $500 (ahem... GameStop...)
...
Nope... No DX10 games as of yet... The best thing to check into as far as playing Windows games on Linux is to check out Cedega http://www.transgaming.com/...
Now, once more game companies start putting out Linux native clients (Thanks ID Software and Epic!!!), things will start heating up as far as Linux gaming goes...
I'm getting bet...
