"Anyways Sony lied at E3 about why they didn't have it, saying something like it was last gen, and motion was this gen, also that they technically couldn't get the motion to work with the rumble. Which was quickly disproved by many people."

Just like how Microsoft said that 1080p and HDMI weren't needed... But now the 360 does 1080p, and the Elite will have HDMI...

Looks like there's two reasons for me to build a new gaming rig now... UT3 is going to be amazing, but this looks incredible... I can't wait to see what a pair of 8800's SLI would do with this game...

However, we are talking about a company that has billions of dollars at their disposal, who could afford the R & D time to work out these types of issues, and fix them.

I'm hoping that's what they did with the Elite, but it would be all too funny to have to shell out $480 for a reliable 360... ;-)

Sony is already mass-manufacturing the 65nm Cell CPU's. The new CPU's will help to cut down the manufacturing costs. Not to mention they could also remove the Emotion Engine from the US hardware, and feasibly be able to drop the price by $100...

I agree that price drops will be the ONLY way Sony will be able to get mass mainstream adoption of the PS3. I'm hoping for yearly price drops... That would DEFINITELY put the pressure on Microsoft... ;-)

The environment models look VERY low-polygon, almost no lighting or shadowing effects, and primitive texturing...

Looks like Windows DX7 or OpenGL 1.0... That has to be shots from an alpha build.

This is going to be AWESOME for laptop displays... =) OLED displays are not as fragile as LCD is. OLED would not only give you MUCH better picture quality, but it would also make for more durable displays.

We're probably talking at least a good five years out before OLED's start becoming mainstream, but this is some exciting technology.

What would really be a kick in the pants would be for Sony to drop $100 on the 60GB PS3, then come out with a 160GB model for only $80 more ;-)

Both with Home pre-installed...

You're spot-on with that one. It would be better for the consumer to keep the 20GB PS3 around, and possibly offer a USB WiFi adapter and a card reader as accessories.

The 20GB PS3 was a damn good value for a budget-friendly Blu-Ray player. And a $100 price drop on the 20GB model may have started a tidal wave of people jumping on the Blu-Ray bandwagon.

Let's hope that the 65nm Cell equipped, sans emotion engine PS3's are ready for the Christmas season, at a $100...

"Next the 360 core needs to be dropped."

Agreed. Once the developers are free to make games that can use the hard drive on the 360, it will make the system FAR more appealing to me.

It just amazes me that Microsoft has sold ten million XBox 360's, yet still no price drop in sight? What's up with that? ;-)

If you go through Dell, you can create enough stink about Vista, and get them to ship the system with FreeDOS on it (along with a nice $60-70 off of the system), then you can STILL order XP (OEM Version only, unfortunately) through NewEgg (for about the same price that Dell was charging for the Vista pre-install).

I wonder what Micro$oft would do if more consumers went this route to circumvent Vista... Muhuhahahahaha...

XP will continue to be the biggest competi...

I can tell that you haven't had the misfortune of working with Vista yet... I've got seven PC's up here at work running Home Basic, and they are subject to some of the strangest issues I've run into yet...

Outlook 2003 would come up and PEG the CPU on a dual-core machine, but only on SOME of the PC's. 1GB of RAM is realistically not enough (gives you the performance of an XP machine running 256MB of RAM), and those stupid "security" notifications that do nothing mor...

Officials from Japanese publisher and arcade manufacturer Namco Bandai have announced that the company is developing a series of new arcade games which will use the Cell microprocessor, according to a new Reuters report.

The new arcade hardware will also use the same Nvidia designed RSX graphics chip as the PlayStation 3, which will make conver...

"It will have to overtake DVD before it wins out..."

Why would Blu-Ray have to take out DVD to win? DVD STILL hasn't completely replaced VHS, would you consider it a failure due to that?

All Blu-Ray has to do to win the HD disc wars is to continue outselling HD-DVD on the scale it has been.

DVD will probably be around for at least another 10 years, if not more. If you shop around you can still find new album releases on vinyl, does that...

Yep... M$ sure has been doing a fair amount of back-pedaling here lately... ;-)

I'm just glad to see that record companies and digital player manufacturers are seeing that DRM is way more of a hassle than its worth. FINALLY business is realizing that the only thing that DRM is effective at is hassling legitimate customers.

Just take a look at what DRM has done to stop piracy!! (ROFL)

1GB should be the bare minimum RAM for Vista, period. 2GB makes Vista as usable as XP is off of 1GB...

The absolute ONLY reason to go to Vista is DirectX 10, and that's only because some PC games (and some bad-ass ones like Crysis) will require it. Other than that, there is NO reason to upgrade from XP.

I'm glad Unreal Tournament 3 will run on XP/DirectX 9. Hopefully Epic will put out a native Linux client (like they did for UT2003 and UT2004).

Actually, if M$ dropped the core (and dropped the price on the premium to $299), it MIGHT actually make me want to get a 360... MAYBE...

The core was a mistake... It tied the hands of the developers since they couldn't make games that REQUIRED the hard drive (making things like hard drive caching and virtual memory impossible).

Trust me, 360 games would be even better if the developers hands weren't tied regarding the hard drive.

DITCH THE CORE M...

If Microsoft was actually all about choice, then:

1. You would be able to use USB hard drives with the 360
2. You would be able to use ANY 2.5" SATA hard drive with the 360
3. You would be able to use ANY webcam with the 360
4. You would be able to use ANY wireless headset with the 360

It seems like with the 360, the console itself is cheaper, but the accessories cost more.

But, I keep forgetting... It's all about CHOICE ...
