When the Dreamcast was going head to head with the PS2. The Dreamcast, which was out a year earlier had its GigaDisc-ROM drive (hybrid CD technology), and the PS2 was packing a DVD drive.

All the claims that DVD was not needed for games, and how the Dreamcast had great games that didn't need DVD... Cross-platform games ran and looked just fine on both systems, so it only fueled the anti-DVD flames.

Then the PS2 finally gets a game that makes it stand out from the c...

The 360 has a hardware scaler chip so it can scale games out to HD resolutions. Halo 3 @ 640P, CoD4 @ 600P, Hell just try playing Gears of War in 1080P! The jaggies are definitely noticeable.

This is from personal experience with an HDMI 360 Premium (trying both component and HDMI) on a Westinghouse LVM-37W3SE 37" 1080P LCD TV. The funny thing is that when my 360 is connected via HDMI, the graphics look "washed out" with the same settings as used for component i...

I wouldn't care if a PS3 remake of Final Fantasy VII ends up on three Blu-Ray discs (kinda like the original on three CD's) as long as it gets made... ;-)

"I got a xbox."

- Good for you!! I assume you mean a 360, but you could be talking about the original XBox, which also had a DVD drive..

"is there blu-ray...nope..you sony droids can sit and laugh every time a story about blu-ray being needed is on here but the fact of the matter is as we speak there are plenty of games on xbox that doesn't use blu-ray.."

- So since Microsoft decided to rush into the market and only put a DVD drive i...

And all of his posts calling the PS3 a Blu-Ray trojan horse, saying that Blu-Ray will never be needed for gaming? HAHAHAHAHA...

I have this game pre-paid, and can't wait to get my hands on it! =)

Ahhh man... with Kojima being an obsessed perfectionist, this game is shaping up to be the definitive PS3 title.

50GB BR-DL is not enough for everything in uncompressed format? How huge is this game going to be? :-)

I predict that the MGS4 bundle will sell like hotcakes when it hits the shelves! ;-)

Warhawk is the only exception. Once you buy a PSN title, you are allowed to authorize it on up to five PS3 systems. Same goes for PS1 titles bought through PSN.

Personally, I'm hoping that any kind of virtualization in the PS3 OS is used towards better PS3 - PSP interactivity. Like remote play that doesn't monopolize the PS3 would be nice.

I'm also hoping for at least in-game mini-XMB for the current PS button menu options, and at least friends list and text messaging. After seeing that YouTube video of an Alpha model dev kit running Untold Legends with in-game XMB, I was rather aggravated that the release model firmware had it strippe...

And throw in rumble for the PS3 with the next patch... Impatient folks like myself who imported Japanese DualShock3's will appreciate it... ;-)

"No matter how much content you put in a game, there is no way it will be close to 25GB, much less 50GB. Apparently theres a compression issue."

Why use compression if you don't have to?

Which is why it's GREAT that the PS3 is not region locked for games... If you want the Japanese voice-overs, grab a Japanese copy of the game and it will play fine on your US/EU/etc. console.

Considering that you can get a 250GB 5400 RPM laptop SATA drive for about $140 retail, and 120GB 5400 RPM laptop SATA drives are going for anywhere from $64 to $100 for a 7200RPM drive.

And keep in mind that these are RETAIL prices... I can only imagine how cheap bulk pricing is on these. Microsoft is probably only paying around $40/each for the 120GB drives they re-bundle and sell for a $140 markup at retail. If they dropped the price of the 120GB drive to $80, and put out a ...

A petabyte (derived from the SI prefix peta- ) is a unit of information or computer storage equal to one quadrillion bytes, or 1000 terabytes. It is commonly abbreviated PB. When used with byte multiples, the prefix may indicate a power of either 1000 or 1024, so the exact number may be either:

* 1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes — 10005, or 1015, or

"I also expected Sony to include HD cables and rumble. Now you have to buy it separately and it doesn't come cheap either. What you get is a PS2 controller, only lighter and with a very plastic feel to it. PSN was supposed rival XBL. Right. The PSN store lags so much that you can barely navigate in it. Not only that, but demoes and some games have to be installed, which is a tedious task(a small demo takes about 10 mins to install). It's a good thing it's free cause no one in their right...

Solution, ditch the 480i/1080i TV and get one that at least does 720p. It sucks to have to do that, but you will be MUCH happier in the long run.

With the prices on HDTV's coming down drastically lately, it won't be that big of a hit financially. I was ticked when I saw that the 37" 1080p LCD I paid $1,199.99 for just a year ago is now going for $879.99.

Although one thing I can definitely say is that a 720p picture is WAY better looking than a 1080i picture, ...

LOL... Yep, the PS3 really does suck... It's only pulling off graphics and gameplay in its first year that it took the 360 two years of active development to get to.

Compare PS3 launch titles to 360 launch titles, and it just proves my point. Perfect Dark Zero was PRIMITIVE compared to Resistance.

Just go away and play some Halo or something...

True gamers enjoy all of the consoles for their respective strengths.
