No worries... I can see Sony dropping $50 off the PS3 price to match this, with a more significant drop once the 45nm PS3's start shipping.
This actually is really good news for potential buyers of all three systems... After a year of record-smashing sales, Nintendo could pull off a $/Euro 50 price drop on the Wii to counter the 199.99 Arcade 360.
I would predict all three consoles dropping at least a little in price here very soon once this goes through.

Really... If you're so sure that the PS3 is hacked, provide proof.
If said proof doesn't exist, then STFU.
"systems arent hacked to run pirated games. they are hacked to run imports and homebrew. piracy is an unfortunate side effect"
And Sony was smart about things like that from the start. PS3 games are not region locked, so every console is able to play imports. And with the ability to install Linux, you get at least basic ability to do homebrew (although without the RSX chipset)
Sony made sure to GIVE their users these things right out of the box. The only...
So a company that doesn't immediately drop the price of their product through the floor is somehow screwing the customer?
I can think of another example of this **cough XBox 360 cough**... Went nearly two years with NO price drop... Compare the price of launch Blu-Ray players to what is available on the market now, there have CLEARLY been price drops since it came out in June 2006.
I would say that dropping the price $1,000 after two and a half years on the market ...
First off, that won't happen... Otherwise the 360 would have shipped with HD-DVD for game use.
Second off, Blu-Ray drives read DVD's just fine... My 80GB PS3 has no problems playing PS2 games, which are on DVD.
Emulating a Cell Processor and RSX on the Xenon Processor? Not possible.
If you have played around with console emulators, you will know that an emulator requires a CPU that is at least 10x more powerful than the CPU you are trying to emulate.
I wouldn't count on anything being able to emulate the PS3 in real-time for quite some time. Same goes for the XBox 360. They are both VERY powerful machines that would require a huge amount of processing power to fully emul...
Kinda like nVidia did with the graphics chip for the original XBox? ;-)
LOL
Uncharted looks and plays fantastic. It was great to play an action/platform/puzzle game with no loading during the game itself. Heavenly Sword is a game that EVERY PS3 owner should at least rent, if not buy. Ratchet & Clank: ToD was a GREAT platforming romp that is a blast to play. The levels are HUGE and have a lot going on in them, the levels feel more alive with everything going on all around your character.
All three games are great examples of the PS3's prowess, and...
Look at the top selling titles for the Wii... Wii Sports and Wii Play... None of the other titles even come CLOSE to those two in sales.
Nintendo's BIG challenge is going to be getting these "casual" gamers to actually BUY GAMES. Wii Fit will probably be another huge seller for the Wii (depending on the price). It will be one of those games that has doctors recommending it (like Wii Sports).
Third party publishers need to see returns on their investmen...
Well... At least Verizon is pushing American ISP's to upgrade. FiOS is a step in the right direction, but still a joke compared to the offerings in Asia and Europe...
I find it ironic that the country that developed DARPAnet (the predecessor of the Internet) is the one that's furthest behind other industrial nations when it comes to Internet speeds.
American ISP's don't have much of a reason to upgrade... We Americans are willing to pay their ridiculous prices for...
" Why am I getting disagrees. Alright go to Best Buy and buy an Xbox 360 and prove to me that the Xbox 360 doesn't have an HDMI port and chord."
First, it's either cord, or preferably cable... And second off, only the Elite comes with an HDMI cable. I bought an HDMI 360 Premium when they first came out, and have a good few buddies that have picked up HDMI Premiums, none of them came with HDMI cables.
And the fact that it didn't come with the adapter to al...
They probably saw the kind of results the Folding@Home project has been getting with the PS3. Don't forget that the PS3 is basically a SIMD supercomputer (although only 256MB of system RAM does limit its potential as a supercomputer).
I'm still curious on why they wouldn't go with Mercury Computer Systems' Cell based blade servers/add-in cards.

"The extremely small, precise nature allows it to fit far more bits of data on any given area. A full terabit (125GB) can fit on a single square inch"
Tera-bit... eight bits in a byte. 125GB x 8 = 1000GB.
By then they could probably cram two full (PPE+8 SPE's) Cell CPU's on a single die... Just imagine the PS4 with a dual or quad Cell CPU @ 4GHz, nVidia's G92 graphics chipset, with 2GB/1GB system RAM/video RAM... (nerdgasm)
Is that both of them are 720p TOPS. If you're just a casual movie viewer, then either service would be fine for the occasional rental. Although most cable provider's Pay-Per-View system SMOKES both of them for speed of delivery... ;-)
However, if you want to own a copy of the movie in HD, then Blu-Ray is the only way to go. Especially after seeing the difference between 720p media and 1080p media. Over 1 million more pixels of definition...

If there's one thing that Apple just does better than anyone else, it's user interfaces. The XMB is a pretty decent interface, but if Apple put a little bit of tweaking and polishing on it and the GameOS, it could be amazing.
On a side note, who all here would like to see Apple do something like a Cell based Mac Pro? I for one would pimp myself out to have one of those with some 3D modeling software and video editing suite... ;-)
Unfortunately, local PC shops are quickly becoming a relic of the 80's and 90's. Big box stores have been forcing local computer shops out of business, and there's so few of them left now.
My best advice to anyone is to be extra nice to the techies in your life, and we will keep you well taken care of... ;-)
You are so right on that... And the worst part is that these companies are charging an arm and a leg for that simple work, yet paying the poor sap doing the work a mere fraction of what the customer was charged... Which can be a sure-fire recipe for shoddy workmanship, as shown in this article...
Becuase not being able to find a limited time offer AFTER the offer has expired...
According to Amazon, there are PLENTY of 360 HDMI Premiums available...
