Well, I don't think you all should expect any price cuts just yet. I doubt Sony will cut the price before the holiday UNLESS Microsoft has a price drop first. The PS3 is selling well, it would make sense for Sony to continue selling at the current price value, recoup costs, and then do a MAJOR price drop for the holiday.
Not sure how many of you actually looked through each page, but the PS3 has a VERY strong exclusive line up for 2008 compared to the other two consoles. It's going to be very interesting to see how this year plays out.
This game is looking great! I'll be purchasing a PSP for this and Crisis Core.
In the case of Mass Effect, yes... but in the case of games like Bioshock, no. Microsoft only gets the money when they're the publisher of a PC game... they do not get paid simply b/c a game comes out on the PC.
At any rate, whether they published ME or not... this still diminishes the value of owning a 360. Particularly since these types of games are better on the PC anyway (for those able to enjoy them on a PC). It's all perception. If I didn't own a 360 and knew that I'd be...
This doesn't come as much of a surprise. The 360 does have some great games but unfortunately most of them are available on either the PC or the PS3. It'd be nice to see the machine actually get some solid exclusives.
I do agree that the Lair comments are much too frequent... but I also think it may apply in this case. The game looks AWESOME. But we have never seen any real gameplay from this game... and the trailer that was shown back in 2006 did not show that much action.
At any rate, I am happy to see this game is still in development b/c I thought that it'd just died. Hopefully, we'll actually see some footage by E3 and see a release date.
First of all, PS3's are well stocked b/c Sony has been monitoring stock and shipping regularly to all of its retail partners. So unlike the Wii, when someone wants to buy a PS3, there is one available.
Second, people are making this predictions because the PS3 already outsold the 360 last year even though it had a significantly higher price. The PS3 has been outselling the 360 in Europe and Japan for months. Really the only prediction not already based on fact is that the PS3 w...
This is great news... hopefully, this means the U.S. will get it's own greatest hits line-up soon!
Yea, I prefer the PS3 and all... but this is hardly news worthy. The article acts as if the results could have been any different!
Actually, no one had any great games if they purchased any of the three systems in their first year. Gears did not come out until the 360 had been out for a year. Halo did not come out for nearly 2 years. Metroid Prime was the first great game on the Wii & took several months as well. In fact, as far as great games early in a consoles life, the PS3 has arguably had the best 1st year of all 3. It's a matter of perspective of course... but as an owner of all three, my favorite games of 2007...
I believe that they are referring to the sales trend and not the actual install base. In order for the PSP to be gaining ground on the install base, the DS sales would have to begin going down... and it does not seem that will happen anytime soon.
But really, the point is that Sony has made a very significant accomplishment by being able to shift so many units of their handheld and continuing to increase their sales momentum. The PSP can co-exist in the same market as the DS b...
That'd actually be kinda awesome, everyone having different ps3's. But anyway, maybe you missed the news that the PS3 sold more than the 360 last year AND has outsold it for the last two months in a row as well. The PS3 is not selling slow, just not as fast as the Wii.
I agree. That would be a smart move. Too Human probably won't peak many ppl's interest but Gears 2 could do the job.
#1 It's outselling the 360 by approx 80k in a month with NO major game releases. As titles such as GTA IV, DMC4, & MGS4 come out... it will definitely be outselling it by more than that.
#2 In addition to being outsold in the other major regions, the 360 is also losing its gap in NA which could mean an exponential momentum shift in the PS3's favor if this trend continues. The real problem is that after two years on the market and a price drop, the 360's sales are decreasing...
Yea, but keep in mind that MS continues to lose their lead here in the States with each week as well! If KZ2 impresses and/or FF XIII manages to make it out by the end of the year, the PS3 will probably be outselling the 360 in every region by holiday 08. However, I'm not sure FF XIII can make it in time. It's still going to be an interesting year though.
I'm sure that the visuals are going to be impressive as hell!!! Probably the best looking on a console when it comes out... However, I am concerned about the gameplay elements. I have no idea where Surfer Girl gets her info, but 1UP made similar claims that the gameplay so far is mediocre and that the quality of the game may be lacking if it releases this year. That is VERY troubling to hear... but I'm still willing to give it a chance.
Actually you're wrong there. Both FF X and FF XII brought about some pretty significan changes to the series... both loved or hated by fans depending on who you talked too.
And while not every game can set a standard or redifine a genre, any game that hopes to be considered a classic HAS TOO. Bioshock is one game that you named that definitely achieved this. Mass Effect, not so much.
But what we've seen of FF XIII is already promising to do this if the gameplay ...
Eternal Sonata was good, Blue Dragon was pretty lame... Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game. I think the story will probably be awesome. I'm not blown away by the graphics or gameplay elements they've shown off but it should definitely hold us over until the bigger rpg's come later this year.
Agreed, this was an excellent read! You get the feeling that they are not only looking to push the envelope when it comes to the Resisntance franchise, but of the fps genre in general! This is slowly building up to be my most anticipated title of the year... which it will be after I've been able to get my hands on MGS4 :-)
